Never let your dog eat a fish oil pill! My dog ate one last night and to my surprize his fart smelled like straight fish and it didnt just linger it stuck in my clothes. YIKES! >:(
-
I heard that it was really good for your skin!!! But I also know that if you or an animal use too much of this then it could have the opposite effect!!

My dog gets REALLY bad "pitbull farts" I CANNOT imagine him eating fish oil as well!!! My other dog, my lab..He will go eat something dead and rotten in the woods and get sour burps that are like bombs!! It makes the entire room and surrounding areas smell like a sewage just opened up!

My yellow lab has taken a fish oil capsule every day for almost two years (tossed in her food). Since taking it, she sheds alot less, has had a BEAUTIFUL soft coat grow in that everyone is always complimenting on. My kittens split a capsule a day and both of their coats have changed for the better as well (one kitten had dry, rough & dull coat when I got him and now it's very shiny, soft & healthy).
:fish: Fish oil is good for their heart, joints, brain, eye & skin health. None of the pets have ever had a "gas" problem as indicated in the op post. Usually when pets have a problem with "gas", it's an indicator that their food needs to be changed as many pets suffer from food intertolerances. First, though...I would check that the fish oil is a high quality fish oil as not all fish oils are the same.
The fish oil I give my pets is a salmon oil capsule that I order from GNC because it is "human quality", & regularly tested for purity by an independent, FDA registered lab and found to be free of detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead and PCBs unlike cheaper fish oils. How fish oil is stored can also make a difference as it can go rancid. Bottles should always carry an expiration date and not be taken after that date. Be wary of ordering fish oil on-line from untrusted sources like small sites or e-bay because you have no way of knowing how the fish oil was stored, uncaring people could have let your fish oil sit out all day in the sun before shipping to you. Get your fish oil from a company that is well-known for handling vitamins/health products and has been around awhile because they have better storage practices than the smaller places that may have none.
