Title: Help Starting a Blog...
Post by: BossNUp on March 08, 2012, 10:52:32 am
I am about to create a blog as a way to promote FC & gather more referrals. What would be the best tips for developing an effective blog?

First do it cheap so you won't be tempted to quit. My latest blogs cost me $1.25 a month including everything. Then be yourself and tell your own personal story, don't just try to paste banners and links all over and expect people to sign up. Pick a domain name that you can get ranked on Google and YouTube with and make sure you have your own photo on there so people can identify with you. Then as you add posts and pages, pick headlines you can get ranked too.

Your Own Site is best, so register a domain name with http://GoDaddy.com and host it on http://NoSupportLinuxHosting.com for the lowest cost. If you need help, track me down.

Thank you for the information. I have been thinking of starting a blog too. I am really new to it so I was a little intimidation. I started looking for a domain on Godaddy.com but didnt understand the hosting.

Thank you for the information. I have been thinking of starting a blog too. I am really new to it so I was a little intimidation. I started looking for a domain on Godaddy.com but didnt understand the hosting.

I can understand why that would be, with all the competing claims it's like getting a drink from a firehose. The truth is setting up a web server and selling accounts to us is not that expensive. A lot of fingers are in the pie and they want us to be scared to death of doing anything but handing them our credit cards.

The real truth is a dedicated server costs a couple hundred a month and you can host several hundred websites on the same server with no problems. So if they cram 600-800 accounts on one and charge us $3 to $10 apiece, who can blame them for using all the marketing and affiliate schemes they can come up with?

Well the hosting solution I mentioned above has no affiliate program and only charges us $1 a month for a website. I don't make any money for telling you that, in fact I sell other web hosting solutions as an affiliate that I can make $100 a referral from. I just want people here that I know  are working hard to make a few bucks online to know the truth and save some money.

I just finished posting my new blog  :angel12: it's targeted towards college students like me to help them out and provide them with some source of income, it's alot easier than i thought it was going to be, all I had to do was sit down and tell them my real story and what I'm doing to change my situation  ;D

I would BET it's going to work for you, just keep on being yourself. While you are at it, write about a 300 word post with a good keyword phrase as the title every so often, then submit for free to SocialMonkee.com and get some backlinks. Next thing you know you will be listed on Google and have traffic coming in. I would suggest a topic closely related to what your focus is, helping college kids with pocket money. Then if you really want to kick it up a notch, read it into a slide show video and post it on YouTube.

This points out another big plus for this forum, you never know who is going to come along and read a post that helps them out, even when it was written for someone else.

Thank you, I just finished signing up for and submitting my form! I have been posting my new blog on twitter, as most of my followers are students in college, and I will ask my friend to make me a short video I could upload to Youtube as well as another to place on my blog. Also I've applied to place Google AdSense, Amazon and Ebay Affiliate programs on my blog so I will also generate income when someone clicks the ads.

Thank you, and I come here every day now so I will definitely keep you updated on how things are going. In fact I just got approved for the Amazon Affiliate Program so I posted their ads on my blog, so hopefully that will generate a profit. I also use adf.ly to shorten my blogs name, post it on twitter and whenever someone clicks the shortened version adf.ly pays me. I got back to college on Monday so I plan on marketing big time when I get there. In all in all I'm doing pretty well for my first 3 days =)
