Title: Credit Karma Offer
Post by: kingreyam24 on March 09, 2012, 05:30:09 am
Has anyone tried this offer? I'm a little leery, since they say it's a completely free credit report site. Supposedly the only completely free site is annualcreditreport.com, so is this creditkarma.com for real? They need your social and all your info to give you your credit report, but I've never heard of the site, so I don't want to try it unless someone else has actually used this site before.

Well I just tried it and got credit very quick too.

Credit Karma 2012-03-09  $0.75 Approved

They ask for your info and the last 4 digits of your social Not the whole thing), and it came back with some info that is valid, but I am not sure if the credit score they got is for real.  I have a bankruptcy on record, not too old, and my mortgage is not even there as part of my credit, but the other stuff was kind of real, so I will given them 5 out of 10, but I did not had to pay anything.  To see what the have.

Well, that is good to know. I looked at this offer and began to sign up but when they asked for my social, I backed out. As a rule of thumb, I do not give out my social to anyone over the internet.

But one of your respondents says that you only need to give them the last four digits. That respondent had a mixed evaluation while another respondent gave them high grades.

I think that I did a search on credit karma on the interent and got positive results. I may go back and do another search. I might give credit karma a second look.

I tried this offer as well... it's just the last four of your social that's required.  They really pull your credit report from one of the agencies, and they use their own algorithm on that data to come up with a credit score.  It's not likely to be the exact same score as you would get from one of the bureaus, but it should be close.  It's really free and no-strings-attached and it doesn't affect your credit to pull a report... so I suggest you go for it if you're on the fence!

After reading the above posts and the endorsement of the Administrator, I just signed up for Credit Karma and was immediately approved.

Credit Karma    2012-03-09    $0.75    Approved

Just being cautious, I also checked out the company with the BBB before I signed up and found they are BBB approved with an 'A' rating. The report from TransUnion was complete and pretty darned accurate. If I understood correctly, you can check your report once a month to get an update at no charge as well. Looks like a legitimate company and a nice offer from FC!

I have never done a credit report offer.  I see them all the time.  But after reading this thread, I think I will give it a try.  $.75 is a big chunk and some of you have actually researched the company.  Thanks for sharing your information.

Woooohoooo!  It worked.  I got both the credit report and the $.75 easily and quickly.  Thanks forum friends.  I would never have attempted that offer without your recommendation.

sadly enough I cannot qualify for credit karma as I am already a member....great site though and one that Clark Howard from CNN Money always promotes.

I just completed it as well, pretty straight forward and easier and faster than a survey, as long as I don't get bombarded with spam, a good deal for the 75 cents, thanks FC for finding this offer.

I did some checking first and then did the survery and got credited right away. They were not quite up to date but pretty close. Made me feel good to get another survey under my belt.

The site is legit. It's the foundation website for once of the three major credit companies, TransUnion. AND it's actually really handy if you're looking to make major purchases or just bring up your credit score because it allows you to map out a plan to reach your goals. New house, here I come!
