Title: Easter dinner in or out?
Post by: pkrahmer on April 02, 2012, 03:53:45 am
When I was growing up every holiday dinner was at someone's house which I loved.
My dad died last year and the 1st holiday after that was Easter. We decided to go to his favorite restaurant for Easter and a had a fantastic meal.
We are doing it again this year with even more family.
so are you having dinner in or out?

This year we dont live near any family so we will probably be eating in at our house. We havent really decided, but since we are buying a house we need to save money. Sadly I dont even think the kids will be hunting Easter eggs, because it is way to cold outside. We even have snow right now, and I hate the cold.  :angry7: We might have to try doing an in the house one.  :'( :-

When my mother-in-law was alive and while she still had good health, we always went to her house for Easter.  Our girls would hunt Easter eggs in their yard after we had eaten.  We would spend the afternoon there visiting.  It hasn't really been the same since she passed away but now we have Easter at our house every year.  I fix a big meal and we eat on our china to make it even more special.  This year, due to the amount of work it all takes (cleaning more than usual for company) I thought for about 10 seconds to suggest we go out or just crock a roast.  But, after those 10 seconds I went back to thinking the traditional would mean more to everyone, including myself.

I love to put on a spread....but usually do it just for my immediate family.  Someday soon, I'd like to invite someone who I know doesn't have anywhere to go for the day!

We always  go  to my brother and sister-in-laws house. They have a big family and we don't. But i always do someof the cooking when we go . When my sons were young everyone came to my house. but since both have passed away it is hard for me to have the family here.

Easter is at my mom's. I never felt right about expecting others to work on holidays like Easter. They should be able to enjoy it with their families as well.

We normally go over to a friends and celebrate with them cause most of my family is elsewhere in the country and thus they are the closest things we have to family.

we are having dinner at a relatives house. They enjoy doing it and this year we don't have to choose where to go because the others are far away so their isn't any stress. I don't like to go out because of the wait and the cost. I would probably enjoy it if I was invited out but didn't have to pay. Restaurants seem to raise their prices for holiday dining otherwise it would be a attractive alternative to eating in. enjoy the day ,the food and company.

I will most likely be by myself with no dinner. I am checking out the Ten Commandments though, so I may save it for then.

When I was a kid we did something special, at home.  Mom wasn't into company, but she would usually bake an Easter cake.  I'd decorate it.

These days I live alone and don't celebrate.

I don't have to work Easter Sunday.  I guess I will not cook.  I am going to Church with my Daughter and Son in law.  I work at Wal mart and this is the first time I have had Easter Sunday off in over 7 years.  Thank God.  Hope everyone has a great day and my God Bless each of you and keep you safe.

I have been invited to spend Easter dinner with my sister and her family.  Normally I would just stay home, but figured I would go there this year.

When I was little we always had holiday dinners at home.

But times have changed ... if I'm not working then it is Brunch
with my in-laws at a restaurant and dinner with my family at
my sisters.

This year it will have to be leftovers for me as I have to work
a double this Easter .... bummer.

I don't have any plans for Easter weekend but it would be nice to have something traditional with friends and family.  I like to keep things simple so maybe I'll gather friends and family members together where we can all enjoy a nice dinner.

An Easter picnic at the park would be perfect.

Holidays and family get-togethers used to be a big deal and we had a good time. However, recently they are just something to get through. I think not being near family is part of it, but it was like that when I was near family. So I may pick-up a ham and cook it at home or not. Definitely not going out.

Not sure yet.  Going to Easter Brunch at a chinese buffet.  So may just have a quiet dinner at home...may be too full to go out to dinner.  :)

What a wonderful outlook you have.  Most people in my family dwell on the loss of someone in there family every year a holiday arrives.  Yes we all miss them and those traditions but moving on and beginning new traditions is what life is all about.  I think it's wonderful your family has done so in going out to eat.  Easter is in 4 days and I still don't know what we're doing.  My Mom's boyfriend asked if my family would be interested in going out to eat with him and my Mom.  Unfortunately the only one in my family who can tolerate my Ma's man is my 5 year old...so avoiding the invitation was awkward.
