Title: Did you watch the Ten Commandments?
Post by: swkstudent on April 07, 2012, 09:44:30 pm
What do you think of it?
As a kid was a tradition for us to go over my grandparents house and watch this movie. Very long.

Yes I watched the  Ten Commandments back in the last 50's.  I was just a teen ager back then and now I am 71.  One of the best movies that was out.  We need more.  The Passion of Christ was great.  A lot of lives were changed because of it.  Jesus suffered so much of us and died on the Cross and then rose again the 3rd day.  That is what Easter is all about.  May God Bless each of you and keep you safe.

Yes I watched part of it, but recored the movie because I had soimething to do outside the house. I watch the 10 commandments every time it comes on. It's one of the greatest and most inspiring movies one could watch.

Referring to the movie with Charlton Heston as Moses?  I've seen that many times but haven't seen it in awhile...I'd love to see it again.  It's one of the best!

Yes, I have watched it and enjoyed it.  It is very long.  I have heard that there is another one in production.  I don't know if it is a Stephen Spielberg movie or not, but I heard it was a big name with lots of effects and would take a different take on it then the original movie.

 I've watched The Ten Commandments so many times! Haven't seen in a few years though. Good movie but really how true to life was it?

I channel surfed before bed and watched part of it.  As an atheist, I found it really interesting how it played out no different than Hercules (a.k.a. Greek mythology), and yet people today still claim that this version actually happened.

The only movie I have seen about the ten commandments is called The Ten, and it was more of a spoof than anything.  I didn't really like it.  So I apparently haven't heard of the movie you are referring to and therefore haven't seen it.

I've seen it a couple of times, but not recently. I liked it, but not nearly as much as I liked Ben Hur, which is my favorite movie. Charlton Heston is one of my favorite actors, so that is the main reason why I watched the Ten Commandments, but I would have liked it better if his gorgeous features weren't hidden under a beard most of the time!

 I've watched The Ten Commandments so many times! Haven't seen in a few years though. Good movie but really how true to life was it?

It seems fairly accurate, but there were differences. For example,The Bible tells us Moses fled to the wilderness after the discovery of his killing the Egyptian, when in the movie he is banished by Pharaoh. Also they played up a romance between Moses and Ann Baxter's character, when none existed in the Biblical account.

What's accuracy got to do with either?  They're both fictionalized accounts of a guy who was initially trained by the Aegyptian priesthood in 'magic'.

We watch every year. Its a family tradition. I love when Moses separates the water for people to get to the other side. I brought my mom the gift set they had at Sam's Club. All time favorite movie.

I used to be an athiest and an agnostic(God bless em'), but that ran its course. As a believer, I'm glad Charlton Heston too was a believer too  :angel11: I watch this movie every Easter when its on tv  ;D. God loves us all

If you were ever a disbeliever in god, you were the lazy kind who simply was mad at the world.  An atheist who actually has real reasons to back up their convictions doesn't tend to fall susceptible to delusions.  Atheism isn't a "phase"; believing in god is...if you're intelligent.

How can it be a "misperception" when there's no evidence to perceive which supports your religious contentions?  Asserting the "reality of Jesus and Heavenly Father" without evidence is a delusional "misperception".  Personally, I don't perceive your simplistic 'flirting' with a married woman to be "feigning sincerity" since you're manifestly geniunely insincere.

This is my point exactly.I don't see Christians going out of their way to harass people like the Atheists here have.In a topic as clear as this -Did You Watch The Ten Commandments- some atheists still feel the need to put down belivers.I don't see Christians disrupting threads as has been done by atheists time and again. We get it.You feel threated by the Bible. Then don't go into a Bible verse thread. It's as simple as that. :-X

This is my point exactly.I don't see Christians going out of their way to harass people like the Atheists here have.

Actually, that's exactly what so many of the xtians, (including "jedijohn"), do when they interject their religious beliefs into threads unrelated to religion.  In the instance of this particular off-topic thread, you've got an especially annoying xtian ("fc2"), spouting religious nonsense which you apparently feel should stand unopposed because you have no cognizant rebuttal to dissenting views.

In a topic as clear as this -Did You Watch The Ten Commandments- some atheists still feel the need to put down belivers.

Like most threads, this one too has had some subject-drift occur.  That doesn't constitute 'putting down "belivers" (sic)', it constitutes viewpoints which dissent from the religious ones presented.  Instead of pulling on a mask of false martyrdom and 'victimhood', you could try a rebuttal which addresses the dissenting points or, choose not to reply.  This passive-aggressive rountine of yours is getting stale.

I don't see Christians disrupting threads as has been done by atheists time and again.

Of course you don't perceive the numerous interjections of religious beliefs by xtians into non-religious thread subjects; you're a closed-minded fundie, (as represented by your fundalmentalist posts).

You feel threated by the Bible.

Hardly.  Why should a book of superstitions 'threaten' others?  It's the mind-numb followers of such religious superstitions which 'threaten' freedoms and rationality.  Fortunately, irrationality can be defeated by reason, (whereas the only way for reason to be defeated by irrationality is by suppressive force - which would be resisted with deadly force, as it has been before).

Then don't go into a Bible verse thread. It's as simple as that. :-X

Here's another simple option; cease trying to censor opposing viewpoints.  It's a waste of your efforts and merely shows that you desire to suppress non-religious viewpoints.  Good luck with that, fundie.

Since nobody has called you that, you've either got low self-esteem to be characterizing yourself in that way or, you've missed what's actually going on entirely, (my guess would be the latter).

I didn't watch the 10 commandments this year. I wasn't home and I've been incredibly busy lately. I didn't know I could be so busy and still not get everything done.

I watched The Ten Commandments in the late 50's when I was 18 years old.  It was good and I have watched it several times over the years when it has come on TV.  Another good movie is The Passion of Christ.  If you have not seen it, I would recommend it.  It is so moving.  May God Bless each of you and keep you safe.
