Honey, I am from the south where everybody calls everybody "honey"  When you are in customer service it sure comes in handy!  People want to be remembered!  If you encounter hundreds of people a week; how can you begin to remember names?  Around here it is a compliment to be called ""honey"!  ;)

I am a southern woman born and bred and I approve of this statement !  ;) We can also flip that though. "Oh honey, bless your heart, 'insert insult here'."

Honey is simply a term of endearment and does not offend or bother me in any way.

No kids to speak of.  I don't know that I have ever called anyone that.  Some people might call their girlfriend honey but I think the only thing like that I have ever called a girlfriend has been babe or baby.

I don't think there is anything wrong with calling anyone honey if they are you and the honey are both comfortable with it.  There are times when I'm out in public and people call me honey and I don't like it but other times when I'm ok with it.  You know when the waitress calls ya hun, that's cool.  But when the mailman calls you honey it's weird.  I call my son Bear.  Recently I found out what the word "Bear" meant in the gay community and now I watch who is around when I call him by my pet name.

My mother called everybody honey - my brother, my sister, me, my dad and probably everyone else, although I'm not sure about that.

I see nothing wrong with calling your son honey, but I absolutely hate it when a perfect stranger call me by the endearment "honey".  Or even sweetie, it  really steams me when people do it and then I have to correct them, which I don't mind doing.  Yes, I am from the South.

I live in the Midwest and the waitress may even call me "Honey" even though she has never met me before.

I don't see anything wrong with it either. I'll be 25 next month and my parents still call me by nicknames I had when I was little.

There's nothing wrong with that, so long as your son isn't annoyed by it!  Hopefully he recognizes that it's just his mom being sweet and loving.  Don't let anyone try to tell you it's "wrong" to call him honey...otherwise they deserve to be called some things themselves.

I feel somewhat special when someone calls me honey.  I do use the honey thing quite a bit, and no one seems to mind.  Most of the time it's just Hon tho'.

I'm from the South too, and lots of people call each other honey, including mothers talking to their children. I think it's perfectly alright.
