I rather hear good news on the news instead of gossip, rumors or just someone being a nucklehead.
-
you bring an interesting point but at the end of the day I rather hear the truth!
-
I believe it's important to encourage and inspire people when and how they can. The media thinks it's giving us what we want by burdening us with all the terror in the world, but it would be nice if they made an effort to give us, as a society, what we NEED: Ofcourse we all want the option to care, but it's nice to have a choice of what we care about. That's like offering someone all the mac and cheese they want to eat, when you really want a steak once in awhile.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think it is good for us to hear bad news all the time, but I do want to know the truth. I guess that is why people love stories about rescues and stories that end well. They are often a welcome change.
-
I'm sure anybody would want to hear the good news vs. the bad news, any day. There's both everyday!
-
I know there is bad stuff out there happening everyday but there is an awful lot of good also. Instead of harpping all the time on the bad they could report a lot of the good that is out in our communities and going on all the time. And some of our news media just will not report on some of the wrong doings of our prez. But just let someone report a small incadent on the other side and they blow it up. Jeeze.
-
I rather hear good news than bad. I know bad news is always there but sometimes good news feels better.
-
yes good news coz bad news makes u stress out and no one likes that.
-
I never watch the news because 99 percent of it is nothing bad news.
-
I'd rather hear good news, but that's not going to happen. Our society has given itself over to negative thinking, thus we get constant negative results. The news, I think, is purposely conditioning our minds to accept evil as normal.

i like to hear the good news....i think sometimes we get conditioned to hearing the bad stuff so it wont effet us as much

False. There are a few local news stations which endeavor to broadcast segments on "good news", (such as one in particular running a daily "pay It Forward" segment in which viewers nominate someone other than themselves who have done something altruristic and then the station pays that person a few hundred bucks). This is but one example. Were the news to consist of entirely "good" news and no, (or little) "bad" news, that too would paint a false picture of reality. So-called "negative thinking" is not necessarily followed by 'negative results' any more than "postive thinking" is necessarily followed by 'positive results', (false correlations).
-
I can honestly say that is way I stop watching the news, I mean I know it is important to stay on top of current events but for the most part there is always something sad going on. Now, usually when I get on it is only to watch the weather.

I would rather hear the truth. I want the truth presented as mostly facts, but I don't mind a dual perspective point of view analysis following the facts (being sure to give multiple points of view if their are such). I find good news and bad news viewpoints to be somewhat subjective, although there are some topics which have a tendency to be considered good by most viewers.

Surprisingly enough, I agree with this. What some respondants are suggesting is that there is a tendency for mostly "bad" news to be reported, (or, at least that's they way they see it). It is sometimes very subjective, as you said. For instance, it was likely good news for most people that North Korea's latest missile test failed and bad news for N. Korea's new dictator.

Im 50/50 on that one. I don't wish bad things to happen to people but when I hear it, it makes me appreciate my life even more. On the same tip, I don't want to hear good news all the time either. I dont think anyone would be happy if they heard someone just won a billion dollars after losing there job.
-
You can complain all you want but there is a reason the news is shown as it is. It sells better this way!!!! Good news does not sell, plain and simple. You can argue that perhaps people should care more about good news but the reality is that is simply is not true.
-
I would rather hear bad news. I think that hearing bad news serves several purposes. First: it helps you appreciate what you have and forces you to look outside your self and realize that others in this world, unfortunately, are worse off than you. Second: I think that it prepares you for adversity or avoidance of adversity. For instance: If you know that a particular area has a convicted killer/rapist running around loose, you can avoid that area and decrease the chances that you will be acosted by this perpetrator. Mixing in good news helps lighten the darkness that comes from a barage of bad news but hearing bad news is more useful.
-
Good news...though unfortunately, if it bleeds it leads......
-
good news of course silly. I hate the sad things that are happening in the world but i can't control the crazy behavior of others.
-
The news where I live always starts off with the bad stuff, and they always have so much of it to tell us about. Sometimes, I don't get to the good stuff because I change the channel.
-
It’s the reason why I don’t bother to watch the news on TV. There are more bad news than good. I'd rather hear more good news.
-
I would rather hear good news rather than bad. For example, we will get more rain. :angel11:
-
It would be nice to have 2 news stations. One for all the bad that is happening in the world and the other for all the good stuff. It will then be up to you to choose which one to watch.
-
I would much rather hear good news, but I guess society thrives on the bad news. I go on The Daily Upbeat.com site for good news.
-
I would rather hear good news for a change. I have enough bad luck for everyone.
-
I hear that we need good news for a change without all of the drama on the news.
-
Are you kidding me this is America good and bad news is just news at it same ole thing. Life is what you make it...Qoute from my Father and many before him. What goes around you will always come back around you its just news whether its good or bad. Just have to deal with it. ;D :D
-
There seems to be more bad news than good news. At least that's the way the media reports it. But it would be nice to hear some the media report some genuinely good news.
-
I love hearing good news, but in today's world you have to hear the truth and a lot of it is bad. 8) :sad1:
-
I watch only a few minutes of the news each day, then they seem to just keep rehashing what was already said.
-
About 98 percent of the news on tv is bad news. Most times they stick to one bad topic and keep it going for days and weeks. It gets so tiring that I will not watch news. I will watch anything and I mean anything but news.
-
Good news or no news at all.
-
I had rather hear the TRUTH. To many lies are told the way it is now.
-
The craziest things are considered news these days. It would be wonderful to hear more good news. If that happened, I think the world would begin to change for the better.
-
Good news and important news
-

You make a good point.
-

I agree wholeheartedly. At least have one day a week without reporting negative news.
-
I really enjoy hearing good news, i understand we also need to know what is going on in this world also, but the darn news media all have too tweak it it o there way of talking about it thenwe have to listen to them expounding on it and the another one comes on and hera we go again with another slant on it. Each one wants to be the first to hopefully get it right, but never say well i was wrong folks. just get swept under the carpet or into cyber space.
-
More good news would emotionally create a more satisfied population. Negativity is depressing if that is all we hear. SO consider the mood of the country right now! Could we use a little good news - YES
-
I like to hear good news too.

I HATE watching the news. Basically you hear about every horrible thing happening in the world. It really makes you think that horrible things are just happening non-stop, but in reality I think there's mostly good going on, but the little bit of bad is all that's reported. I'd rather read gossip sites all day long than watch the nightly news, at least I know that's all fluff and it doesn't depress me! Unfortunately, good news would get pretty boring pretty fast ;)
-
I would love it if the TV news srories would begin with something uplifting and/or happy first. Whenever I start to watch the evening news, the first thing they always mention is a death, usually by someone killing another person. It's pretty sad that it happens on a daily occurrence, and probably way more than we think. I just would like to hear something uplifting first before I am going to be saddened. I understand that that's the nature of this world we live in, but we don't need a constant reminder that the world is a sick place full of ugly people...I would like to be able to sleep at night hoping that good will one day outweigh evil.

Hearing good news is good for us. Gregg Braden teaches that there are three parties involved in every act: the performer of the act, the receiver of the act and the witness of the act. Hearing/reading good news makes us witnesses of the good acts and is there fore beneficial to us. It raises our spirits and hope, which is healthy. :peace:
