Right now I'm renting a small home while I save up for one that I can have built to my wants and needs, also a place with some nice land.

I'm only 24 & don't have a great job/income yet, so I just rent a small house outside of town. It's great... 2BR, carport, storage, fenced yard, super cheap! And I love living alone!

I'm in a dorm, trying to save up money as well.  Even though I know college will just eat it...

I hate how the more you work and save, the more the gov thinks you can pay for college.  I worked really hard to get a scholarship last semester and then b/c of the scholarship I just got less financial aid.  How screwy is that?

Hello, well I was in the same position and was renting a lot. But then I got tired of it and started telling myself that it is time to own my home. All that money that I put into renting could of went to a home and possibly paid off by then you know. So I'm happy now.

My husband and I bought our house in October 2007....had we waited a little longer we probably could have gotten it cheaper...seeing how the economy is today...
We used to rent a brand new mobile home but every time we had a tornado watch I would freak out...that was one of the reasons we finally made the decision to buy a house....plus we had another baby...and the trailer just wasn't big enough!!

...because you don't answer to no one else and get to make your own rules.

I am in the process of buying another house! After getting divorced I rented, but the market is sooo buyer friendly right now, I can buy for the same as I could rent!

It's a buyers market!
I own a 1917 4BR 1 bath that is slowly being updated.....and have a sm. house I rent out that's more up-to-date than the one I'm living in!

Owning is best, and now's the time to buy.

I'm renting a 4bdrm house. I wish the owner would let us rent to own because we really like living here and we love the area. My bf and I talk about how we want to do this to the house or do that, but then we can't because it's not our own house and the owner could probably care less if updates were done to it. Renting isn't that bad, but at the same time all that money is going towards something you don't even own. Owning a home is a nice investment and I hope to own in the future.

My soon to be ex's jobs toke the family all over the Western states. So us owning a house was never in the picture for us.
But as you can tell things are changing and I am personally looking into buying a house. I personally never liked to rent, we just did.
However, I got to remind myself, credit is a big factor into buying a house. If you don't have the credit, then don't worrry about it. Maybe later.. when I when the lottery I can buy a house..lol. Yupe my credit is that bad!

My boyfriend, myself and our 4 kids rent a small 3br house. Would love to buy a bigger house but thanks to my ex husband my credit is crap >:( So for now Im just glad that we have a place to live in these crappy times.

I own my own place but right now, with the way the economy is, I am having trouble paying my mortage.  Plus my hours have been cut to 32 hours a week.  Yet, i know somewhere down the road it will get better.
