I think yes...we have to teach them the violence to other is not right...comunication is important to stop the abuse..to teach them to respect others,
this job is not only for the teachers at the schools. We have to starts also at home..

I'm tired of this topic.  No one teaches their kids to bully other kids.  OBVIOUSLY you are supposed to teach your kids not to be bullies.  You're supposed to teach them not to break the law, eat their veggies, and study too.

I don't know why people think that "nothing" is done about bullying.  if a kid picks a fight, he is suspended. This is not a growing problem, this is not something new, this is not something that needs a slogan.

As long as there are bad parents there will be bullies.  Do you see bad parenting ending anytime soon?

Since I don't see bad parenting practices which contribute to kids deciding to bully others ending anytime soon, are you implicitly suggesting that bad parents be 'bullied' into becoming better parents?

I think that Bullying/bad behavior tends to come from a family that hasn't taught their children the difference between right and wrong.  I don't believe that suspending a child has been an effective deterrant to future instances of bad behavior.  Since these poorly behaved children have missed out on the lessons about acting properly an intervention and exposure to ideal behavior should be implemented.  The burden shouldn't be placed squarely on the child.  Since the parents have neglected to teach their children proper behavior, the parents should also be involved in the correction.  I think that six weeks, two sessions a week, with a social worker/counselor for the first infraction should be mandatory.  The parents will take a more active approach to bringing up socially responsible children when they have to shell out time and money for the mistake they made.

Bullying is VERY wrong and I think it should definetely be stopped. I think in SOME cases you have to look at the parents bc they are bullies themselves!!!! Come one people, teach your kids right!!!

Yes, thank you for seeing the way. We need to bully the bullies of the bully so they don't bully.

My 3rd grade son had a problem with a bully this school year.  Luckily my son has a great teacher who brought the problem to the principal's attention.   Everything was handled quite well.  I was very worried, but the problem was solved by talking about what was causing the bullying and finding a solution.  When children are still young, usually things can end well.  I'm glad things ended well this time, but I do worry about the future school years for my son.  We can't control how our children's classmates behave at school , but we can keep that ongoing communicative relationship with our children to learn the signs of problems at school.  Many good teachers know how to handle problems of bullying at school.  I hope my son has such good teachers as the ones he has this year  in the future.

Nerds get bullied sometimes.

There was a nerdy kid who was a freshman at the high school I attended while I was in my junior year.  The freshman was picked-on and bullied throughout the first semester until he befriended an exchange student from Japan.  That Japanese kid probably appreciated his new american buddy because he taught the nerd some martial arts over the course of the next semester, (while the nerdy kid was still being bullied - and yeah, this sounds like the premise for the Karate Kid movies but, happened about two decades before those movie came out).  Now, maybe you're thinking the newly-trained nerd kicked some bully butt however, it turned out that a big fight occurred after a highschool football game which the nerd and about 200 other kids attended.  The nerd got pulled into the ruckus and exemplied the saying that "no matter how much of a martial art you have learned, there's always someone who knows more."
