oh course it is. They need to learn to be proud of the country they live in
-
I think it's more important to educate children about the history of the US and let them develop their own viewpoint. However I do think it's important to stress that we live far better here than the majority of the people on the planet. Kind of a conundrum, but my basic answer is "Sure! Educate them too."
-
YES! God is American, right?
-
Yes! It is absolutely important to learn to have pride about your country and the history behind it. With the current decline of our country, many people do not feel proud about being from America. Yet, we are still an amazing country and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. American patriotism should be deep within every American citizen.
-
I think it is good to have some love of your country but the US was founded on change. If we are happy with just the status quo then we may end up hurting our country. We need to see what is great about our country as well as what needs to change to make it better. We are not perfect but as long as we don't give up trying to make this a better country. Make sure the next generation knows that patriotism isn't always about being proud of our country but also about critiquing our country and asking for more.

Be proud to be an American and part of that is to be strong in your conviction even when it is difficult. As the bumber sticker says, freedom isn't free.
-
Yes, it is important to teach kids about patriotism, and instill love for their country, when they are young.
-
They don't teach it in school, the media, or by the government... the only place left to teach it is at home.
-
Is it important to also teach your children manners, cause I don't see ANY from a certain member. :angel12:
-
Patriotism: being proud of something based solely on something you had absolutely no control over. You were born in America. Why exactly is that something to be proud of? I've never really felt this, and never will.
Teach your kids to think, dissect, question, analyze, and evaluate and re-evaluate everything around them. Teach them to teach themselves. Patriotism is just another dogma.

Being passive/aggressive is bad manners.
-
patriotism is important no matter what the age, however the us is founded in betrayal, treason, and justification for denying said athority.

The future of America belongs to our children; the present generation of youth. So, unless they are well bred with patriotism, the communist will be able to brain-wash them (they are trying to do that right now) to destroy capitalism and embrace a godless communist society.
-
I am proud of America, i was born here and belive in patriotism. Many of my family fought for this country. So we could be free and have the freedom we have.
-
It is absolutely important to teach our children patriotism right now! This cannot be over-emphasized. The next generation will have to be true blooded Americans who love their country. If not, all will be lost. America as we know it will be no more!
-
I think it is important though I believe you can not teach it. Kids will learn patriotism by watching it in action.
-
I don't think kids should be taught to blindly support where they happened to be born, no. A lot of people confuse patriotism with elitism; America is the best country in the world! and yadda, yadda. How can you honestly say that when you've probably never been to any other countries yourself?!
-
Lord no. At least brainwash them with something decent.
