Today it makes one year since the power outage in the Northern Part of AL, it was very rough being with out power for an entire week... I had much more bbq than I wanted to eat and counted the cold showers I had to take... this is something i will never forget.. I would love to read other ppl stories about power outage..

Wow, that's brutal! A few weeks ago we had one that lasted 14 hours and I thought I was going to die. :BangHead: I don't know what I'd do for that whole time.

You just have to be prepared! Make an emergency kit: One blanket, one towel, first day kit, candles, one battery operated lamp, some snacks and water bottles...other items as needed. Place them all in backpack...ready to grab and go.

I was lucky growing up in the country that our house was only a couple of miles from the power station. That means the longest we ever had our power out was for a few hours. Although I know other kids who went to my school who had their power out for 2 1/2 weeks. I can't even imagine how hard that would be especially during the cold months. I live in the city now and have only had the power out a couple of hours.

when I had a power outage, we had some wind-up flashlights and radio, so we kept track of the news. As for foods, either packets or my portable gas stove.
