Title: not qualifying for a survey
Post by: vmcutshall on April 27, 2012, 09:56:07 am
I just spent about 45 minutes on a survey on Thoughts Count and then was told I did not qualify for the survey after answering 3/4 of the questions. Why are they allowed to do that?

I hate that crap. You think the survey is almost over and then it tells you they have met the requirements or something like that. Totally not fair....they shouldn't even let you enter the survey if they have already met the maximum allowed number of entrants.

That's happened to me before.  They should keep eligibility questions at the beginning to screen certain people.

i totally agree with after the first few ?? they should determine it why do we do profile and all that if it really is not being used to select the right survey for us just a waste

you have to keep trying as you will not always get them due to demographics. I keep trying esp surveyhead and afterthoughts as most of time you qualify. Just gotta be patient.

That has happened to me before, but more times than not, I'm able to complete a survey and get credit. Persistence is the key. I just keep trying until I qualify for one.

Surveys are super stingy and that's why I hardly ever do them anymore.

I do keep trying but I don't like doing the survey and then finding out that I did not qualify for the survey.

A lot of people, including myself, have that problem. I've pretty much given up on them. I have to really be in the mood to do one.

That tends to happen on MTC's.  Seems to me that they offer you all of their available surveys even if you DQ's on them before.  Some of the other sites seem to recognize when you've tried for a survey before and don't offer it to you again.

I have taken 3 surveys which took 20 minutes each.  After taking them I was told that I did not qualify for them. why take these surveys just to be turned down.

Even tough your turned down , you do not qualify the company still looks at your answers to questions , so basically its benefiting the company not you , its wrong but perfectly legal

This happens to me sometimes too.  I keep doing them, but it is annoying when that happens.  If it shows it's going to take more than 25 minutes, I don't do them anymore, just in case that happens.

just did one for thoughts and got the credit. i guesss the answers you give fall into a calculation about who gets credit or not.

Hate when this happens I feel like not even wanting to try them but I do love getting credit for them when I do qualify. I just wish if I don't qualify they would tell me this in the beginning before wasting my time.

Sometimes (well a lot) i don't qualify on the first one so just keep pushing the next survey and a lot of times will find one and get credit for it. Just keep pluggin along.

what would be the reason for not qualifying on the any survey? And yes they should let us know if we qualify or not before doing the survey

there are 2 possabilities that come to mind.  First is other people finished up while you were doing the survey and it filled the quota, or Second, they just dont want to pay you, so tell you that you didnt qualify after answering the questions.  The first is more likely though...but they should just let you finish and give you credit since you were already on it.

FusionCash is not like a restaurant; our paying customers aren't you members but rather the advertisers and survey providers.  Members like yourself are independent contractors, and you get paid rather than paying us (like you do with most businesses).

We work hard to balance the needs of our members (without whom there wouldn't be a site) and our advertisers (without whom we couldn't keep the lights on).  This means a number of compromises: we have to limit the amount of bonuses we issue (we don't earn anything from it being your birthday... not to mention that with 2.3 million members we'd be issuing approximately 6000 birthday bonuses per day on average... not to FURTHER mention that if there was a birthday bonus, people might tell their referrals to choose a fake birthdate which is coming up soon so that they can get an additional bonus [and an incentive to falsify information is bad]).

As for survey qualification, it's a complex issue:
1) Surveys are often routed through two or more survey systems, and they rarely share information: so you may have to "qualify" for a survey multiple times.
2) Surveys are typically targeted at one demographic "slice", for example "males in the midwest".  Once the quota of "males in the midwest" is full, you wont qualify anymore.  You may see other people being credited for the same survey, because they're in a different 'slice'.
3) Since your qualification depends on your demographics (which you can't control) different members have different experiences with surveys.  For some, who are among rarer demographics, they almost always click through, qualify and get credited.  For others, among more common demographics, they have more difficulties qualifying.

To belabor the restaurant metaphor, a survey provider might "order" 200 survey completions from "males in the midwest".  If we delivered them "females in new york" instead, they'd rightfully be dissatisfied; like getting fish 'n chips when you ordered a steak.  This is why taking surveys can be frustrating, inconsistent work.  If there was a way to improve it, we would, but you can't really tell a multi-billion dollar multinational research firm that their survey platform "needs to be fixed"...
