DO you give to other family or neighbors for hamidowns or do you donate to goodwill for tax deduction garage sales ?? I used to give to ounger siblings and stuff but now they are older and have more of a style going to give a ton of clothes away this summer to clean my room and to donate for a cause better then just sitting in my room and a tax deduction wouldnt be bad either What do you guys do ?
-
i either sell them on ebay if they're still in good enough shape,
or donate to goodwill/salvation army. i also shop at thrift stores
a lot too, so its nice to give both ways.
-
we give them to the desert industries service. Sometimes we use them for rags. Other times we give them to the goodwill. Or some other organization like that! They all do good work and help other people with everything they can! So it's a good idea to give them to an organization like the goodwill or desert industries who use all the close that they get either here in the United States or in other countries that are in need of them!
-
I give my clothes to a local salvation army if they are still in good shape with no holes or stains. They realy help a lot of people and families.
-
I try to give them to friends and family who might need or like them!!! Or I donate them to the salvation army!!!
-
I take them to this thrift store and they give me 30% off my purchases. They have very nice things there. ;D
-
At one time in my life when I was younger the clothes that I didn't ware anymore or would get holes in them I would make barbie clothes out of them. Currently I do a garage sell to make extra cash or just give them away to friends, family or strangers.
-
Sometimes goodwill, sometimes I sew them into diapers for my sister's baby and sometimes we just use them for rags.
-
I mainly wear my clothes out. But if any are descent I donate them to my local thrift shop or give them to Goodwill.
Whenever I can help some else out it's a good thing. :peace:
-
Depending on the condition of my clothe I'll donate them to goodwill.
-
I usually hand them down to my cousins or friends as a first resort. They love getting free clothes (I only let go of my clothes when they no longer fit.) But, if I don't hand them down I always give them to good will.
-
I throw them away, or give the to Goodwill. When I do Goodwill, I always forget to file the donation with my taxes.
-
Give it to family members if they like it or just donate it.
-
i give it to family or to someone that needs them
-
I have tried the tax deduction and its really not that much. Doesn't even affect my return much.
I donate sometimes. I just collect them sometimes hoping I will find some lil girl in need. I would so
much rather give them to someone who can use them. This is my daughters clothes I'm talking about
of course not mine. I don't usually have much of my own to give away.
-
Well I usually throw mine away I dont have many my man has like 80% more clothes then me I really dont like having more that I can use in a week i hate clutter ::)
-
I usually give them to relatives who live several hours from me. If they can't use them they give them to people they know or go to church with!
-
I try to give them to a friend or goodwill. Anything but the trash! I use to own a trash removal company and have been to the landfill many times to see all the bags of clothes, toys, etc. filling up the land. Recycle as much as possible!!!! :)
-
We have a yard sale every year. What doesn't sell goes to Goodwill.
-
If they look decent I would give it to goodwill or salvation army :icon_rr:
-
I give mine to my younger sister or donate them to good will.
-
I give them to family members if they fit and donate the rest to charity. I'm holding on to some expensive pieces that I can't wear in hopes that I can eventually give them away. EBay seems like such a hassle to deal with.
-
I give to (AKA) American Kidney Association, and I work at a Homeless shelter for women and children and we receive donations for them also.
-
where we live there is donation boxes set up all over the place, for different communitys. If u want to donate to a certain community that u think needs them more then others just drop ur old clothes in the box and that community gets them.
-
I box up the clothes from all 3 of my kids in a rubbermaid and mark the sex and size of the contents inside. Then I stick them in storage. My oldest is 13 so it's been great to just grab a bin when my 5 year old grows out of clothes. I have pretty much everything she would need from the older kids. Now I'm still stashing clothes aside in the event we have one more. Once we decide that we're done I'll take everything to the local GoodWill Store. Tax deduction - yeah baby
-
I make tee-shirt quilts and other items out of them. If a friend or family member wants them then I give them away, but I prefer to reuse them.
-
I donate them to charity.
-
I either sell them in a yard sale or hand them down to my sister or donate the to the goodwill.
-

I take my old clothes to the salvation army
-
i usually bag mine up and give them to charity i would rather someone else get some use out of it then throw them in the trash.
-
Great question! :) I used to receive my sisters hand-me-downs ehrn I was younger. When we outgrow clothes now, if nobody wats them we take them to the Goodwill.
-
we normally donate to goodwill or salvation army :)
-
If they are still nice and up to date, I give them to my friend who has several children. If tey are too worn I cut them into squares and use them for cleaning.
-
I donate them unless they are wore out then they become cleaning rags. There are so many out there that can use the better clothes. It just doesn't make sense to throw them away. I have gone into thrift shops and low and behold bought some items that still had the price tag on. What a find.
-
I donate mine to the goodwill.
-
Kijiji and salvation Army :angel11:
-
depends on how good of shape they r in...ill donate them, throw them away, or sell them
-
i like to give my old clothes to the goodwill. somtime i give them to friends. but now theirs a place that buy back cloths so thats what im going to start doing getting a little cash for my old stuff.
-
Wear em til they are unwearable lol.
-
I either give mine to a friend or good will.
-
Donate them to Salvation Army, Goodwill or another local thrift store.
-
give to my family and if they cant use them i try to give them to someone that does if that dosent work and they are just to worn out i cut them up and make quilts out of them and rags some are made in to cutrians there are alot of things u can do with old clothes.
-
I usually wear my old clothes at home or donate them to the Salvation Army. I don’t think about getting any tax deduction as long as I clear up the space and clutter to make my life lighter and easier. I would agree for you to donate what you don’t need anymore.
-
I just throw them away
-
I usually donate my old clothes to Goodwill
-
Giving them to a goodwill or any other Charity is good enough for me. Daughter tends to give her stuff to freinds at work who are single parents and have a need.
-
I usuALLY GIVE TO GOOD WILL Or family members.A couple of times I have given to people who lost their stuff in a fire. a few things I sell. The last job I had ruined almost everything I had so I have been using them for rags, pet toys and barbie clothes.
-
We do garage/yard sales about every 3 or 4 months. Then anything that has not sold after a sale or two we give to a couple of different organizations that give to people in need locally. One of the jobs that I have been doing lately is cleaning out apartments and houses between renters or buyers. It is amazing what people will just leave when it gets down to the last minute, they are tired and just want out. This is why we do pretty well at yard sales.
-
I give my old clothes to good will
-
I donate my old clothes to GoodWill unless they're too used (like holes and worn thin). If they're too used I usually toss them or see if anyone needs scrap material.
-
i either keep them were they are. give them away if they are okay or throw them in the trash if i find something wrong with them
-
Give them away to someone who is in need of them
-
We always donate our old clothes to a salvation army box. We aren't concerned about getting a tex break or some money for our old clothes. Its the least we can do.
-
As long as they are still good enough for OTHER to wear, I donate them to the veteran’s charities or the good will.
:peace:
-
I donate my clothes to Goodwill. I will sell them at Yard Sales if a friend is having a Yard Sale. I will also give them to people who are in need. Have a great weekend!
-
If the item of clothing looks awful, I throw it away.
I live in an apartment complex. If the item of clothing is still presentable and I just don't want it anymore,
I put "free" on a piece of paper, put it on a table in our atrium and it's gone within half an hour.
My mom cuts up and uses my dad's t shirts as rags.
-
all my things i dont need or want go to the salvation army
-
I give them to Good Will or to other people and some of them I just throw away. Trying to get rid of a lot of unwanted stuff.
-
i sell mine at consignment shops in my area. it's nice that i dont have to do all the work to get them sold.
-
i give them away to family members thats if they are still into good condition.
-
I mostly wear my old clothes until they're rags.
-
I donate them in the nearsest drop off clothes drive box in my town. If they are really old I just toss them away
-
DO you give to other family or neighbors for hamidowns or do you donate to goodwill for tax deduction garage sales ?? I used to give to ounger siblings and stuff but now they are older and have more of a style going to give a ton of clothes away this summer to clean my room and to donate for a cause better then just sitting in my room and a tax deduction wouldnt be bad either What do you guys do ?
I give my old clothes to goodwill for tax deduction.
-
I give mine to my church's Clothing Ministry.
-
I like to donate to ministries, churches and thrift stores Also, if I have a co worker who I think will use it and know it will fit I like to ask them if they would like them.
-
give them away
-
I might give them away to charity or I might sell them in a garage sell
-
Some are taken to consignment stores - adding to my multiple streams of income. Others I donate to Goodwill - tax deduction. If I know someone who can use the sizes or styles I have, then I donate them to individuals.
-
I usually donate them, but if they're too raggedy I just throw them away or...makes rag's out of them.
-
I give anything a family member or friend can use to them. I borrowed clothes for my son and it is a lifesaver. Kids go through them so quickly! I also sell them on ebay. It is risk free because you can post 50 items to sell per month, so anything that sells is absolute free money for me! That is the best source of extra income around! It racks up money and cleans out your house at the same time!
-
I donate the stuff that's in okay shape to Goodwill or the baby pantry where I live, and the stuff that I no longer fit in to or I don't want I put in a tote with a 10% chance that it might be in style when my 1 year old is old enough to fit into it haha.
-
It all depends on the shape they are in or the mood Iam in. Some of the poor ones go in the trash some to second hand stores hand me downs or whatever ails me. Sometimes I put them in a yardsale and if they dont go after a couple times then off to the thrift store they go.
-
I donate mine to Goodwill. I buy most of my things there too! I love it1 You can get some real bargains there; a lot of people get rid of perfectly good clothes just to make room for more/ I know I do! :bootyshake:
-
I donate old clothes/ items to Purple Heart at least 4 times a year. I like knowing that my stuff is being given to people that don't have....
-
if i out grow them...or i don't want them ne more... i just give them to goodwill
-
I have to throw my clothes away, because I keep my clothes so long they are very worn out.
-
I wear clothes until they are completely worn out and have to be thrown away. Can't afford to keep replacing them.
-
donate to goodwill if are in good condition or throw them away if get too many holes in them.
-
i give my sister and cousins first dibs. what ever is left over my church comes and picks up at my house. hate to throw anything away.
-
I donate them or give them to friends. Sometimes I save the material for quilting squares.
-
I throw them away if their worn to much! Other wise I donate the good clothes!
-
DO you give to other family or neighbors for hamidowns or do you donate to goodwill for tax deduction garage sales ?? I used to give to ounger siblings and stuff but now they are older and have more of a style going to give a ton of clothes away this summer to clean my room and to donate for a cause better then just sitting in my room and a tax deduction wouldnt be bad either What do you guys do ?
With that in mind, it's a lot harder to just say sayonara to our unwanted duds. Here are some eco-friendly suggestions for getting rid of your unwanted items:
-Pass them on
-Repurpose them
-Transform them
-
Most of mine are donated to either the Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, nursing homes or women's shelters.
-
Here in Utah we have a place called Deseret Industries (and there are also DI vans across the US) where you can donate usable clothing and other items in good condition. DI employs hundreds of people, many of them hard to place in more traditional jobs, of all races, religions, creeds, etc. It's an amazing organization.
-
Most of the time I just donate them to Goodwill. I don't get rid of clothes that often because I really don't buy clothes that much.
-
I GIVE ALL OUR CLOTHES THAT WE CAN NOT FIT NO LONGER TO GOODWILL OR FAMILY MEMBERS.
-
My daughters old clothes I have given to the neighbor and her cousin but my clothes I donate in the donation boxes around town. If I have the time to plan I want to have a garage sale too to make a little money on some of my stuff too
-
unless my daughter wants them i usually take them to goodwill :cat:
-
i cut the back pockets out of jeans to make a jean pocket quilt. i've made one so far and it took me ten yea :wave:rs to save enough pockets. i've been saving again for about 4 years. i decorate the pocket and attach small stuffed animals in them for kids. pretty neat. the rest of my clothes go to the goodwill or trash depending on the shape they're in
-
I went through my closets the other day and have them bagged up to take to good will. I could not get in some of them and others that belonged to my mother and she passed away 13 years ago and now it is time to get rid of them. May God bless each of you and keep you safe.
-
I donate my clothes or leave them over a relative house so someone in the family can use them :). Or soetime place them in the trash if I think no one is going to wear bleach out clothes.
-
I usually give them to my church or family if theyre wearable, if not i toss em or recreate it into something new!
-
I give what fits to the neighbors childrend and the stuff that does not fit them I give to a thrift store. I tried having a garage sale but clothes people really do not want.
-
My old cloths are either thrown away or I use them to lounge around the house in. I prefer not to give away my old clothing unless its to the goodwill or something, but I would never give my friends or family any old clothing.
-
we give our old clothes to the american red cross they help people in need
-
I play the hand - me - down game with my daughter and nieces, my clothes, what's still in good condition I take to the consignment shop and what's not I throw away or use for rags
-
I give my old clothes to someone who can wear them or to the salvation army.
-
I plan to open a personal museum to illustrate my own biography...something like Diana, Princess of Wales.
-
I either give them away or take them to goodwill or other clothing shop.
-
I prefer to take it to goodwill or another donation site. I don't really want to hassle with selling them especially when they aren't very expensive in the first place. It seems like more of a hassle to sell them when you can't make much money off of them.
-
there are alot of clothes i dont want anymore and would rather buy new clothes if i had enough money to buy a whole new wardrobe.
-
some I gave to donation but some of them too give it to family or friends who's need it
-
I donate my clothes. :angel12:
-
I give them to the thrift store that supports the local rescue mission.
-
wear them until they become dish rags. For the most part.
-
Usually give them to my church
-
Donate them to a Charity, either locally or go to Goodwill. Some I use for rags as they are not worth donating. Plus I check out Garage Sales, Goodwill, and buy some of my clothes. Living on limited income so why not.
-
Give to my neighbors children
-
Depending on the type and condition of the clothes. I made blankets out of them or donated the whole.
-
I sell all of my clothes in good condition on ebay. It is free to list 50 items per month. It is how I got through paying my summer bills!
-
This time of year we make a scare crow.
:peace:
-
I have the same clothes as I did from 30 years ago. I'm still waiting for them to become "Old". By then I'm sure they will be reduced to nothing more than rags. :sad1:
-
If they were in good condition I would donate them to charity, but if not I would throw them away.
-
The nicer items go to Goodwill and rest either become cleaning rags or I throw them away.
-
I usually keep them until they are pretty worn out then make shop rags out of them
-
I pass my stuff down to my daughter...she passes her stuff to her little sister. Little sisters stuff get's boxed and put away in storage...just in case we have another. My husbands stuff is passed to my son and my son's is boxed away too. I made the mistake of giving away all of my sons birth - bout' 5T clothes away for FREE off of craigslist. Now the idea of having another child has come up and I have a feeling if we're blessed baby #4 will be a boy and I'll be taking rubbermaids to the local good will full of girls clothes than leaving with a baby boy wardrobe.
-
I donate clothes, shoes and coats to the red box that stands in the parking lot o Walmart. Although, really thinking about having a garage sale next year. We'll see. :peace:
-
I usually keep them way too long and then end up giving the ones I don't want to goodwill, or someone I know could use them.
-
First I do a garage sale, if they don't sale I take them to the Goodwill. If they are in good shape. We are so broke, we are to broke to pay attention! HA HA HA So if they don't sale on the day of a garage sale, it's off to goodwill, or once in a while the Salvation Army.
-
Sometimes I give them to a friend who can use them, or if I think they are too outdated or worn, I throw them away.
-
Definitely donate to charities where other people can use them.
-
If they are still nice looking I give them to Good Will/Salvation Army. If they are crappy they usually become rags for around the house as dust clothes or in the garage for cleaning up messes. I don't know anyone younger/ close to my size or I would offer to them first.
-
With my household old clothes i usually find someone that can use them. if i can't then i might do a yard sale or go to the flea market and get a little cash for them. Once i'm tired of them sitting around i will take them to either goodwill or salvation army.
-
I used to have a garage sale every spring and every fall and would sell some clothes in that but what didn't sell I would donate or in some cases keep till next garage sale. I haven't been able to have a garage sale in a couple of years though since I keep grandkids now; I don't keep them on saturday but it takes couple of days of prep time for a garage sale and 2 of my grandkids are young and can't be left in house by themselves to ready for a garage sale. Maybe one day though
-
Donations then get a receipt for tax credit
-
:wave:I usually donate my old clothes to salvation Army or Goodwill like most others have said. But one of the things I like to do with some of the right material clothes, such as T-shirts, towels, and socks, is use them for rags. Old socks can be used for most anything, but you don't have to re-use them again. If you use the sock for a dirty clean-up job, just throw it away!
-
I donate mine to a non-profit called Hannah's Closet which helps battered women. They give me a receipt so I can use it for a tax deduction.
-
DO you give to other family or neighbors for hamidowns or do you donate to goodwill for tax deduction garage sales ?? I used to give to ounger siblings and stuff but now they are older and have more of a style going to give a ton of clothes away this summer to clean my room and to donate for a cause better then just sitting in my room and a tax deduction wouldnt be bad either What do you guys do ?
I completely agree that donating to needy members of the community is a far better thing to do than have the clothes continue to collect dust in the closets. But, at times I too will give things to other family members and/or friends. I consider this my way of also recycling so I think it's a good thing!!! When my kids were little I would bring their gently used clothes to shelters where I knew there were families with children who could benefit not only from the clothes my kids outgrew but also the toys!!!!
-
I will donate my clothes (but only if they're still nice enough to wear) to Veterans and families of Veterans. I'm not looking to make money off my clothes or even get a tax deduction. I just want to support Veterans any way I can.
-
I donate everything that is still good, not torn or stained to goodwill. The rest are torn up and used for grease rags out at the farm. Except for socks and tee shirts i use them in my crafts and cleaning house.
-
My ex used to donate hers to a local thrift store. But one day she was back shopping and bought a dress she really liked. I said, that looks like one you donated to the thrift store. OMG, it was she said, she donated it and bought it back. I wonder how many of these local thrift stores make money on customers that donated and bought it back. Great it helps the local thrift store, as they raise money for other charities, but what a laugh we had
-
Donate them.
-
I used to donate my old clothes but not anymore because when I go shopping I spend at least 800 on new name brand clothes, I go shopping every 3 months. I loose and gain weight quick. I was in a size 16 in jeans 2 months ago now I wear 13. Not donating my old clothes saved me 800 so far this year. I have a total of 87 pairs of $70 shoes and up. I cant waist money on cheap shoes cuz they tear up quick. I have my own buisness and have people working for me, I pay out 1200 every 2 weeks. In a few months I will be on my 2nd building to hire new people.
-
I give them to friends in need and donate some of them.
-
i donate my old clothes to my children or i give them to Good will for donation
-
DO you give to other family or neighbors for hamidowns or do you donate to goodwill for tax deduction garage sales ?? I used to give to ounger siblings and stuff but now they are older and have more of a style going to give a ton of clothes away this summer to clean my room and to donate for a cause better then just sitting in my room and a tax deduction wouldnt be bad either What do you guys do ?
I either sell at our summer yardsale or donate to our church
-
I give my old clothes to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.
