Title: New Offer: Green Dot
Post by: gladysronq on May 16, 2012, 09:33:09 am
Found this new offer greendot (a reloadable credit card). Has anyone tried it?
Am a bit apprehensive to register because the site ask you to provide social security.

I sure wouldn't register with any site that asks for you social security number.  Seems very dangerous.

I don't give out personal info out over the internet unless I know the web and why they are asking?

I do know someone that did the green dot offer and ended up with 3 cards and had to call and cancel each one separately or they were going to charge the card a monthly fee.

I've used the Green Dot Cards before. I've never had to load them on the site though. Usually, they just send them to me and I can load them at my local stores like CVS. I did this years ago and got credit.

 :bunny: Hi, this is greenmellojello:
Yeah it's never to cool or safe to give out your social security #. That is a good way for identity theft to happen. You definitely wouldn't want that at all. That is your personal and unique # for life. You don't want anybody to get that. At all times keep that confidential.....if you have any other ques. just hook me up.... :peace:

I was going to do this until I saw the ss request.  There also seems to be a monthly fee so it wasn't a deal.

I used to deal with Green Dot and my daughter still has a reloadable debit card with them.  They are reputable - in fact, once, when charges were incurred for some service never delivered and the place wouldn't refund my money, I filed something with Green Dot and a month later got the full amount refunded on my card (72.00!).  There is a monthly service fee which is true of any reloadable prepaid debit card.  It's reduced to 4.95 if you make 30 purchases or load 1,000. in one month.  Other wise, it's 5.95 I believe...Plus, 4.95 to load money on to the card.  But for my daughter, it's nice to have this rather than carrying cash in our city.  It's much safer, plus, it's very useful for ordering online - you don't have to give out a bank debit card number.

i research these kind of offers and this is what I found on Green Dot and it is not good.

Beware of Green Dot MoneyPak Scams

The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be on guard for a rising tide of scams involving Green Dot MoneyPaks, reloadable debit cards that are widely available nationwide at more than 50,000 locations.

I had not tried that one yet either... was actually waiting to see if anyone else had.

I never even read into it.

I personally agree... I will not do anything I have to provide my ss for.

Too much fraud these days... especially with our economy the way it is.

Honestly... it really is awesome how we can communicate with each other on FusionCash!!!

This along with many other things... makes Fusion Cash the best!!!

Happy Earnings to All!!!!

I've had a few Greendot cards in the past.  You can get them at Walgreen's, Wal-mart and many other places.  If you need/want a pre-paid debit card they're good.  If you can get credit for getting one through FC that's the way to go.  It works like most pre-paid cards.  It costs $3 - $5 to get the card from a store and you can load any amount you want, up to their maximum, at the time of purchase (at the store).  Then you can re-load them with MoneyPak cards for a fee of $3 - $5.  No interest, no overdraft fees, you can only spend what you put on the card.  If you leave it empty for two months they close it.  If you get one use Wal-mart to load it because they only charge $3 and they waive the re-load fee if you cash a check at the same time.
