Title: Donna Summer: Do you remember her?
Post by: sherryinutah on May 18, 2012, 12:11:08 am
Okay...now I'm advertising the fact that I'm older.  Do you remember Donna Summer?

She passed away today at the age of 63.

I remember her music because I spent a lot of time in the Discos back in 1979.  Her music brings back
very fond memories.

Where were you in the late 70s?

I was not old enough to go to discos in the 70's, but her music sure does bring back memories of that time period.  I listened to Sirius radio yesterday when they were having people call in and talk about their memories of her.  It was nice to listen to.

My eight-year stint in radio began in 1977, so yes--I not only remember Donna Summer but I got to spin several of her discs on the air.  My favorite songs of hers are "On The Radio," (for obvious reasons, I think) and "Heaven Knows," with Brooklyn Dreams.  Ah, the days of disco.  Funny how most of her hits were on the Casablanca label; I remember all the fuss made when she moved Warner Brothers--not that there were many hits for her after that.  Wow.  Memories.

I really liked her songs, She sang fro her heart. It is too bad that the music that we grew up with has gone to the wayside and all of this stuff they play (rap) is so bad i don't even consider it music.
