I have an anxiety disorder which in turn gives me panic attacks. With nocturnal panic attacks, the situation can be more scary, because they happen at a time when it is least convenient to assist (as the night is when most people do their required sleeping :P ). With such a large array of medication that may be prescribed, it can be a scary condition to live with. What I did was seek the help from several different professionals and gathered multiple different opinions of medications, and though a process of elimination chose what to me seemed to be the best option.

For me, Panic Attacks where self induced. How old is she? There are some medications available, but she may want to do it naturally! Different herbal teas for instance! This society has become a medicated one at best, have her talk to someone and see what is at the root of the issue.

My daughter suffers from panic attacks. The meds she was prescribed only made things worse, so she controls them now with exercise and relaxation techniques. She does quite a bit of yoga, it really makes a difference. My mom also has them, I do believe it's hereditary, although it skipped me.

Well, AGAIN for me, it was ALL self induced! You said it best, when she says that she "worries about EVERTHING." That is it! I started thinking to myself, "whatever happens, HAPPENS!?" She has to let things go.
Today, ALL that worrying did NOTHING! I lost MANY YEARS from worrying, and it was all for nothing!

I have panic attacks, anxiety attacks and suffer from depression. I was taking medicine for these and that helped somewhat. I cannot afford the meds right now, so I don't go anywhere outside of home unless someone is with me. I worry about something all the time. Can't figure out how to keep my brain from doing this. I try and stay busy, but sometimes that doesn't help either. I will say a prayer for you and your daughter.

i have anxity attacks which suck but never heard of what your asking about
-
I had them frequently in High School. Mine were caused by social anxiety, and usually if I was alone for a few minutes they would stop.

Thanks for posting this topic. I appreciate the opportunity to know something more about this disorder. I am amazed at the amount of members here that have panic attacks, have family members with family attacks, or know someone close to them that have them. I think today that things are so stressful for so many that this can't help but raise the incidence of this kind of trauma for individuals. I wish you all so well in your process of dealing with this hard issue. Best of luck to you all!

Sadly, yes. From depression and anxiety. :( Not fun at all.

I get them sometimes when i am in a large crowd of people. With the shoving and loud noises i will sometimes just stand still and try to breath in and calm down. I just make it a habit not to be in large crowds.

I had a friend that would....don't know if it was an "official" diagnosis, but she did have to go to doctor because of the stress

Many years ago I would have one when I had to cross the old Apalachicola River Bridge, which was very long and narrow, close to Tallahassee, Florida. It was horrible. I think they finally built a new one.

I too suffer from panic attacks. I am a constant worrier. My attacks are brought on by anxiety. Ive been suffering from them for about ten years now. I took meds in the beginning, but didnt like how I felt while taking them. Because of my attacks I suffered from agoraphobia. My panic attacks usually happen late at night when no one is awake or home. I'm a stay at home mom and am alone with my kids almost every day and night due to my husband being a truck driver. I've learned to control my attacks with breathing & meditation. I found help thru a late night infomercial.

I have them, but there is no specific trigger. When they first started, it was a nightmare, but I manage them somewhat better now with medication and thought control. The key is not to give into the thoughts when you are freaking out, and try to maintain contolr of your thinking.

I never heard of nocturnal panic attacks but it can happen any time I think. I didn't know that I suffered from them until I had a really bad attack while I was with my boyfriend. He didn't know what to do and I didn't know what was going on. I felt sick to my stomach and dizzy and couldn't breathe. I wasn't stressed out or under duress in any way and when I explained to the doctor what happened to me he told me I described a panic attack to every symptom. He said it's chemicals and hormones that can cause it too, not just stress or anxiety. I'm glad I understand it now. It had happened before just not to that degree before so now I know the signs.

I recently began getting panic attacks, they got very bad for about two or three months.I've been trying to treat them with "natural" remedies.I've tried several things at this point.Kava Kava drops were pretty good for a quick cure, however you can't take it for more than a month without risking liver damage.I've just started taking GABA 750mgs a day.It hasn't been quite a week yet,but it does appear to be working.Check them out in a health store.Good luck and God Bless.

Im 16, and I have an anxiety disorder. I take natrual supplements to help calm me, i dont believe in perscribed medicines. I have panic attacks all the time mostly at night, i wake up and im drenched in sweat and i have to hide under my pillow or even run to my moms room because im so paranoid that someone is in my room or trying to break into the house, its horrible. If any one knows how to stop this from happening, please let me know!

Thank you all so much, it's ALWAYS good to know your not alone

I suffer from panic attacks and depression. I was given medication but I am not in favor of meds. It is not a nice feeling to feel panic.
