November is special to many, as many enjoy gathering with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holidays. I would like to share a "Thanksgiving" verse each day of November, along with someone and/or something I am thankful for. I would love to invite anyone who is interested, to join in, too, either daily, or as you can!
~Psalm 7:17~
(KJV)
17 "I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high."
Day 1: I am thankful for my immediate family - my hubby, and my 3 children. The Lord has blessed me with such a sweet and wonderful family. :)
-
There's no logical reason to 'give thanks' to any hypothetical supernatural egregore since there's no evidence for the existence of such, nor for attributing any so-called "blessings" to supernatural causes. Doing so, (or encouraging such), is both irrational and self-deceptive.
-
~ 2 Corinthians 4:15 ~
(KJV)
15 "For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God."
Day 2: I am thankful and blessed with our 2 precious and beautiful young granddaughters. They have another sister due in December. Being Nana and Papa is a great blessing for my hubby and myself.
-
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the fall weather.
-
I am thankful for my hubby and my daughter because they bring much joy to my life. :)

Thank you! I wish for you the same! :)
-
I am thankful for my hubby and my daughter because they bring much joy to my life. :)
Our families are wonderful! :)
-
~ Ephesians 5:20 ~
(KJV)
20 "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"
Day 3: I am thankful for my aunts, uncles, and cousins, on both of my parents' sides. Many of them helped to influence my life in a great way, and I feel very blessed to have them in my life. :)

“Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of xtianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites.”
-– Thomas Jefferson
"Religion is the most malevolent of all mind viruses."

Have a Happy November Everyone!!!!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone. I hope you have family to spend this time with as many people have no one to spend the holidays with. Let's be thankful and help out someone whether you know them or not this holiday season.
I am very thankful for having family to spend time with and not being alone.

You are right - we are very fortunate to have family to spend time with during the holidays. Some of my family and some friends, and several families in our church (and in other churches) always try to either invite people who are alone, or take them some food and sit with them a bit, or have a separate dinner for them in the fellowship hall or someone's house. I know what loneliness feels like and hate that there are people who experience this.
-
~ Philippians 4:6 ~
(KJV)
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Day 4: I am thankful and grateful for my husband's family, including his parents and step-parents, his brother and sister, our brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and our 4 nieces and our nephew. They are special and wonderful, and I care about and love them very much.

I am late but Day 1: I am thankful for life health and strength
Day 2: I am thankful for my husband and son
Day 3: I am thankful for my family
Day 4: I am thankful for having Jesus in my life and knowing him to be my personal Savior!
Wishing everyone a good day and a good week! Be Blessed!

Yet another religious propaganda thread, speciously attributing effects to supernatural causes, (completely without evidence), in a repetitious reiteration of blind faith intended to deceive themselves.
“Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.”

I can't partake every day because my schedule won't allow, so I'll just cover days 1-30 in November and give thanks all at once for my family and friends. Without them, life wouldn't be worth living...

Thank you for sharing that. That's perfectly fine about covering the days all in one! I totally agree with you - family and friends make life worth living. :)

~ Colossians 2:7 ~
(KJV)
"Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving."
Day 5: I am thankful for our church family and friends, our pastor, and his wife. How incomplete our life would be without our church family there to fellowship with, encourage and support each other, and sharing in prayers for each other, and in praising our Lord. I am thankful for my other church families and pastors/wives, who had a great influence in my life, that continues even today.

Thanksgiving is very special. My family get together every year for this thankful holiday. My dad is usaully with us but, He passed away 3 years ago, Bless his soul. I guess we still have to do it all over again. Happy Thanksgiving To All!

I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. My mom passed away 6 years ago, and since my dad is also gone, and I'm an only child, I'm very grateful to have my hubby's family to spend the holidays with. There's a void there, but thank goodness for the wonderful and happy memories we can share together about our missed loved ones.
-
I am thankful for my husband.
-
Day 5: I am thankful for the LORD allowing me to see another day. There was someone somewhere that didn't get this chance. I just want to say LORD I THANK YOU!
-
I am thankful for the LORD allowing me to ...
There's no evidence of any such hypothetical mythological entity "allowing" anything. Such a faith-based claim is specious.
-
I am def thankful for my family, the roof over my head, a job, friends and most of all my kiddos =)
-
1 Timothy 4:4
(KJV)
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:"
Day 6: I am very thankful for all of my friends, whether in person or online. I am very blessed to have such wonderful people in my life, including supporting, encouraging, and praying for each other. :)
-
I am so thankful for the life i live everyday and my entire family and especially all my friends on FC bless each and everyone of you.

The logical rejection of irrational superstitious beliefs is not irrational; it is not required to 'tolerant' illogical religious nonsense.

Who is being thanked for such, some imaginary supernatural entity, space aliens, pixies?

(Posting early since I have out of town dr. appts. and asthma infusions on Wed.)
~ Psalm 75:1 ~
(KJV)
"Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare."
Day 7: I am thankful and grateful to be an American, with the freedom to worship our Lord freely, including being assured of freedoms through our Constitution. I am very glad for the opportunity to vote in elections.

Thank friends who aren't a pain; family that isn't a drain and not non-existent entities that make one look less sane.

;D I am thankful for all the many blessings God has given me....two wonderful sons that still enjoy being with their mom. A house to live in and food on the table. That I had a awesome christian mom who I had to thank for raising me to know the Lord. That I have gone through a lot of trials and tribulations but he brought me through them all including the loss of my precious Mom to cancer in 2010. My verse today is: Psalm 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful giving of thanks. I'm sorry for the loss of your mom - my mom passed away in 2006 (6 years this Nov. 8th) - it's nice to be able to have those precious memories of them.

That childish tactic doesn't delete or censor anyone else's posts however, it directly reveals your actual intent was/is to censor posts which you don't agree with. That's not how it works in the U.S. or on FC since neither are a fundamentalist dictatorship, fundie.
Thank friends who aren't a pain; family that isn't a drain and not non-existent entities that make one look less sane.

You change titles within the threads and it's allowed. I rejected some of your hateful comments. I know they will not count as eligible posts, but I always go over my post amount, so I chose to reject some of your same old mean and intolerant remarks. Don't like it? So sorry - you did it back, so you are now involved, yourself...

Your reply isn't rational; if the sun is too bright for anyone, they can seek shade or wear sunglasses.

Since your insinuation wasn't rational either, (being false and one-sided), my reply stands.

I agree.
I thought the whole post smacked of "I shall tell you ALL how you should behave in life, and on the forum".
Peugh. Stinky.

Well, such people can try to "tell" others how they should post however, people still get to decide that for themselves, (within FC posting policies and rules).

~ Psalm 79:13 ~
(KJV)
"So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations."
Day 8: I am thankful for all of our families' past generations of ancestors, including all of my relatives, grandparents, great grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who have gone on to be with the Lord. I'm praying for our current generation of family members, and future generations to come.
-
Day6-8 : I am thankful for life, health, and strength. I am thankful for family and their love. I am thankful for having a peace of mind and not letting others bring me down. Looking forward to the many more Blessing the LORD has for me.

Such remains an empty religious opinion since it's not based upon "knowing truth" but, upon specious blind faith without substantiation.

Thankful for family and friends. The good and bad that has happened this year. Wonderful memories and expierences.

I am no good at verses, but I can be super grateful for many things.
Today, I am grateful/thankful that we have a country where we can choose how to have our cars repaired. We were able to replace our transmission by purchasing it from a used autoparts store that pulls parts from cars that had problems, but the transmission was in great shape. They then installed it and offered us a warranty. We saved $1000 as a result. Since we're in the red, that savings is a HUGE deal!

11 "Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;"
Day 10: I thank God for the bounty He provides for us - food and clothes, through our families, friends, and jobs; love and comfort through our family and friends - He always provides even when it doesn't seem possible.

That's great! When our kids were younger and growing up, we had Friday Family Fun Nights. Those nights were a lot of fun, starting with choosing supper, desserts, and snacks, then the games and/or movies to play and/or watch. We have some sweet and wonderful memories from those special nights. I'm glad you have your Family Fun Nights, too. Thanks for sharing! :)

"I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving."
Day 11: I thank God for our pets. They are such a joy to have in our lives. They interact with us, entertain us, and care for and love us with all of their little hearts. They are part of the family.

My family and I are always thankful for many things but are extra thankful this year! See, it was a year ago this week that my husband was deployed to Afghanistan for a 3rd tour. He was gone through all of the holidays last year. He returned home in April! We are very blessed and thankful to have him home with us this year!

There is no valid evidence of either such a supernatural 'creator' nor, that such was supernaturally-created.
Whatever you want to think.
I've chosen to think logically, as opposed to not thinking and holding irrational superstitious religious beliefs but, thanks for the unneeded 'permission'.
No permission involved - it's called free personal choice to do and live as you please; just as anyone else does, including myself. Calling my thinking irrational is thoughtless on your part, but that's my choice to think that of your thoughtless thinking. Does no good for you to keep repeating yourself over and over, but since it makes you feel you have contributed to standing up for your choice - have at it. I will continue, as well, to describe how I feel or think, when I feel I need or want to. Have a great Tuesday.

~ Revelation 7:12 ~
(KJV)
"Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God forever and ever. Amen."
Day 13: I am very thankful for our Lord God. Thankful for the sacrifice He made on that cross for our salvation. The verse says it perfectly!
Just an add on that I realize not all believe in God, or in any god, and that's a freedom of choice to choose or not choose how to live one's life. I am sharing with anyone interested in similar interests, especially those of us who do love God.
I am making no demands on anyone, whether of the Lord, or atheist, or anyone else - just simply sharing, in a forum, what I am thankful for during November, leading up to Thanksgiving. How someone takes that is entirely up to them. My intent was not to cause turmoil, or dissension with anyone, just thanks to things I appreciate and am thankful for.
While anyone is allowed and free to comment on anything in this forum, I just want to say that whoever does not agree with this thread, based on what you dis-believe, or believe, is acknowledged, though obviously not agreed with, based on what I believe or not. I'm thankful we all have the opportunity to share what we think in here, whether agreed with, or disagreed with. :)

~ Psalm 147:7 ~
(KJV)
"Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:"
Day 14: I am thankful for the material things we have that help us daily - such as our home, car, food, clothing, etc.
-
~ Colossians 4:2 ~
(KJV)
"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;"
Day 15: I am thankful for my health, although not the best right now and am on way too many meds, but that I am able to get up each day, to do some things I need to do and want to do. I'm thankful for each of my doctors and specialists, who work together to coordinate what I take, including the goal towards a better quality of life.

Day 16: I am thankful for a roof over my head, keeping warm and most of all my Lord, because it is through God that I am home. He not only answered my prayers back in April of this year when I was without a home...when I had to sleep in the woods..when I had to live on ramen noodles and eggs, but He brung me home, gave me the kitty I should of stayed and got to start out with, and now I have money in my pocket to begin to replace some of the things I have lost, not only that, I am going to college for my degree in Bachelors of Science in Christian Counseling. God used me through the year to help others, so while I was hurting..I didn't so much face the affliction as I talked to others. I am giving God the Glory because He answers prayers, I pictured something happening in my head over and over, and one day I went to church and it happened.

What a wonderful testimony! Thank you for sharing this and how you persevered through a rough time. I wish you the best with attaining your degree, and that's neat how God used you to also help others. :)

~ Psalm 26:7 ~
(KJV)
"That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."
Day 16: I am grateful for being able to have both my hearing and vision. There are many, including friends, who live with loss of hearing or vision on a daily basis. I am thankful for those friends, and for my grandmother who suffered with both, for the positive outlook they have on life, and how they adapt, including sign language and braille. These are things that can be easily taken for granted and I do not ever want to forget how blessed I am.

No, there's no evidence to support such specious attributions to a hypothetical supernatural entity since an empty belief does not constitute substantive evidence, (nor does blind religious "faith", by the same token). It's one thing to profess to hold superstitious religious beliefs and quite another to attribute without evidence, (e.g., 'the invisible purple unicorn used Bob to do all sorts of things because Bob believes it did'; this constitutes equating a specious belief with a 'fact' and that's false "testimony").
Yes, to them there is. It's their choice. You stick to your evidence and stop telling someone "No" when it's not your decision.
-
You stick to your evidence and stop telling someone "No" when it's not your decision.
It remains that no substantive evidence to support specious religious attributions is extant. The lack of such evidence isn't a "decision", it's factual. The religious attributions were made without supporting evidence and are therefore, false attributions to supernatural causes.
False to you and to others. Not false to some - their choice to believe how they want, evidence provided or not.
-

That's incorrect; a lack of substantive evidence is independent of belief, (since belief has no valid bearing upon evidence or, the lack thereof - evidence eitehr exist or, it doesn't - in the instance of religious beliefs, it doesn't). It is certainly the choice of some to 'believe' despite the lack of evidence in what they're 'believing' however, that's not rational, (and yes, 'Virginia', people have to option to hold irrational beliefs).
Now how did I know you were going to say that again, lol! I'll just say that whatever others have experienced, studied, and decided, are things we are not privy to, and have no right to tell them that they are wrong in what they perceive as truth. While it's your prerogative to share your disagreement and why, it still doesn't mean they will change their minds over something they feel strongly about, especially if there has been an event or things to happen to back their decision.
I have experienced a couple of things, and they were shivers down the spine events, and my mind will not accept that they didn't happen - they did indeed happen, and others were there to corroborate what I saw and heard, including my father, who was of similar thinking as you are, who was dumbstruck and couldn't quit shaking his head and muttering, "I'll be d***ed" over and over.

I have experienced a couple of things ...
Yet, attributing such "things" to supernatural causes is specious/without merit due to the lack of supporting evidence beyond a religious belief.
Say it until you are tired of typing, but I know what I saw and heard, and it was indeed not normal, was supernatural, and that's the truth. You don't have to believe it - that's your choice; but it changes nothing that did happen. You weren't there to see or hear for yourself, and since it is in the past, I do not need to prove anything to you about it. I know it happened, and that's for me to decide where to have gone from there. So without merit to you? That's your take. Thank goodness your take doesn't rule nor control my experiences, merits, and beliefs. You continue to be content with your choice and I will mine - thanks.
-
... it was indeed not normal, was supernatural, and that's the truth.
No, attributing such things to supernatural causes, (sans substantive evidence), is simply a mis-attribution and therefore, not the "truth", (no matter what an unfounded religious opinion falsely attributes).
It was "truth" to me, no matter what you say. What happened with me has nothing to do with your personal life and views. If you wish to see it the way you do, it's no skin off my back, because it does not change the facts of the events happening - in my personal life, with others there who witnessed the same. So please do continue thinking your way (and no, I'm not giving permission or any of the sort to something you are already doing) and I will continue with my thinking - it changes nothing.
-
It was "truth" to me, no matter what you say.
That's merely a subjective attribution, not an objective "truth" because such a religious opinion lacks objective evidence, no matter what you choose to believe.
If that's what you choose to think, fine, think it. It does not change it for me.
-
Day 13, Day 14, Day 15 and Day 16: Thankful for being in the land of the living. Thankful for family and friends. Thankful for the Blessings that JESUS has given to me! Truly Grateful!

It's the logical conclusion of thinking rationally, as opposed to an illogical religious belief resulting from thinking irrationally. I realize that you are willfully-unable to make that significant distinction, (unless it's involuntary).
And that, is just your opinion - as much as you try to make me look "willfully-unable" to make that distinction, you are just making yourself come across as "willfully-unable" to be rational and respectful that my views are different from yours, and I am not irrational. You are judging and your "irrational" conclusion of me is incorrect - doesn't matter how often you say it, it does not mean it is fact.

Agreed that's what it looks like. A difference in that is while others respect his dis-belief, the same courtesy is not returned without including words such as, "irrational" and others. He seems to think his views are fact for everyone, when they are only what he thinks, not believers. Oh well...

I don't think about Thanksgiving as it was originally taught to me in school where the Indians help save the starving pilgrims from the death of winter. In truth the Indians got the raw end of the deal with the the lost of their people, land, religion, language, & their lives! Think about it had the Indians let the white man parish by mother natures cruel winters; there would b no, pilgrims alive to send to England, telling them hey, queeny I found a great place here where the indians help white folks! Ya, bring more of our people to move here. So, if they didn't survive, do you think you would b here right now or would you have been erased from..... ;)
-
It was fortunate for the Pilgrims to have been treated kindly when they first arrived in the New World:
"An ambassador and interpreter, Samoset (c. 1590–c. 1653) of the Abenaki people was the first Native American to greet the English Pilgrims at Plymouth and to introduce them to the Wampanoag chief Massasoit.
The Abenaki chief Samoset from what is today Maine learned to speak English from fishermen who visited his coastal territory. So it was a surprise to the Pilgrims of Plymouth Plantation when he entered their settlement and announced, "Welcome, Englishmen!" The first Indian to greet the Pilgrims, Samoset fostered goodwill and trade with the Europeans.
He introduced the white men to Squanto, an emissary of the great Wampanoag chief, Massasoit, who facilitated the long-term peace between the Pilgrims and Indians. In later years, Samoset signed the first land sale transaction to the colonists.
Samoset explained that the region the Pilgrims had settled in originally belonged to the Patuxet, who, along with some neighboring tribes, fell victim to a terrible plague four years earlier that ravaged the region, leaving no one alive. To a degree, the Pilgrims accepted the fate of the Patuxet as divine providence that they should take over the territory. Chronicles of the Pilgrim Fathers , records "There is neither man, woman, nor child remaining, as indeed we have found none; so as there is none to hinder our possession, or to lay claim unto it."
Samoset had mentioned that one of the few Patuxet left, who was not present during the plague, was an Indian by the name of Squanto, who had a better command of English. Samoset said that he would arrange a meeting between Squanto and the Pilgrims. Samoset also talked about Massasoit, the great chief of the Wampanoag tribe, who was currently in the area with the 300-strong Nemasket people.
On the next day, Thursday, March 22, 1621, Samoset returned to the colonists with a special companion, Squanto. Also known as Tisquantum and considered the last surviving member of the Patuxet, he had been kidnapped by Europeans and brought to Spain and to England, where he learned to speak English quite well. He had been returned to America before the Pilgrims arrived in Plymouth.
Samoset and Squanto conducted some business with the Pilgrims, offering dried herring. But the real reason for Squanto's visit was to inform the colonists that the great sachem, or king, of the Wampanoag named Massasoit was waiting nearby with the Nemasket and wanted to meet with the Pilgrims.
Later that day, Massasoit did appear, with his brother Quadequina and 60 of his men, at the top of the hill overlooking the colonists. Although there was some initial reluctance on the part of both parties to send emissaries, they eventually met and exchanged gifts and entertainment. The meeting was the beginning of Massasoit's long-term friendship and defense pact with the Pilgrims.
