Personally I don't want a business, I just want the money. If you want legal advice, a public forum filled with people who get paid to post answers with no control over how accurate they are, is a BAD idea.

you can look up small business startups on the internet there is a lot of info out there different types of vusiness has diffferent rules or laws its best i think for you to research for your business type there are also taxes for different states that you have to comply with you really need to do some research first

No, I got enough on my plate with school and work.
-
I'venever been brave enough to risk it not working, and in this economy that is even more of a concern.

I am working on a home based business right now. Since I am close to retirement, I want some extra income so as to supplement my pension and savings.

Been there and don't want to do it again. I like some of the products i sold,, but not the cold sales you have too do to build it. Some companys will want you to buy a certain amount from them every month even if you have not sold anything. So be very careful with whom you look into. also what sells in one part of he country may not sell in another, and they are usually costly and more and more people cannot afford to buy.

i have considered it on a few occasions 8)

I considered it and tried it several times but can't seem to get if off the ground. I guess working a full time job and being tired all of the time doesn't help either.

If you already know what kind of business you want to run, product or service already chosen, then I would say you have the toughest part figured out. Your local BBB should be able to provide you with some valuable information.

I have considered it and completed the creation of three home based companies...a Sub S Corporation, a Limited Liability Corporation and a C Corporation. I started with the Sub S Corporation and had to have twenty percent of the paperwork redone by my Certified Public Accountant. I relied on him after that to incorporate the other two entities. Being self-employed can be financially rewarding but having time to yourself tends to disappear. I jumped back into the corporate world/arena several years ago by working at two well paying jobs. I work alot but not nearly as much as when I was self-employed. I only depend on the income from one job so that if one of the companies becomes intolerable I can quit without any financial worries.

I have a home-based business, and it's not always easy because you have to make sure that you're always getting your name out there and trying to get new customers. Depending on what you're going to be doing, make sure you understand the laws and financial end of everything, or have someone handy for you who does.

I think based a business out of your home could be good IF you have a particular skill set that allows you to work efficiently doing something you already know from home, like the CPA above.
However, most "Start your own business! Work from home, only a few hours a day doing something simple!" or the like are SCAMS and that's definitely not a path you want to take!

work from home it's great. I want it too.
-
Really depends on the business you are going to start. Legally, you really don't need to anything to start a business.

i have also tried this but it only lasted for a few months it was joint effort with my husband and anytime we would have job lined up he would be to tired to go and help me or he would be working as well. Doing full time work and trying to run your own business so did not work. i am however thinking of restarting it simple because now that i am a stay at home mom money is tighter then normal and now that i dont have a 9 to 5 it might be easier but then their is always the issue of where to take my child which is the reason im a stay at home mom now anyway.

I've thought about it before. A home-based business sounds like a great way to earn money. Good luck.

I want to but need capital to start.

I have started a home base businesss and I love working at home..Im 57 and a grandmother of 4 handsome little boys, being able to stay home and spend more time with my grandchildren makes me happy!! :)

:thumbsup:Yes, to start you do not need much but if you happen to start making money then you have to know a lot of things that concern legal issues. You are going to have to report your income correctly for once. I am sure there are other things you have to know before you start , just try to find out first. Once you start making serious money I am sure that there will be a lot of institutions wanting part of it.Just make sure you know what you are up against first. Good luck anyway.

The idea for a business is the whole point, especially a home based business. If we had good ideas, we would use them ourselves. I just wouldn't recommend quitting your other job to pursue a home based business. Treat it as extra income and then see where it leads you.

I still have my job ,but would never quit it ,unless i became very sucessful at my home base business, hopefully that happens ,if not I guess
I'll have to keep my job :(
