I can't quite remember what the first video game I played was as I was only about 4 or 5 at the time. I was born in 78' and the first video game system I played was the Atari VCS(video computer system)/2600. 3 games vie for first in my memory: Frogger, Ghost Manor, or Pitfall. I still have my Atari and I still play it on occasion. I clearly remember being in awe when I played Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo the Christmas of 85. What was your first experience with video games whether in the arcade or at home?
-
The first one I remember was Pac-man.
-
I first played an atari, space invaders i think.
-
The first game I ever played was Pong by Atari. It was really simple, compared to todays games. No colors, just black board and white graphics. It made a bloop sound every time you hit the pong.
We thought it was so cool.
-
Atari, the first game was Dodge Em. Cool game.
-
I think it was Pac Man but there was a shark one I liked, too. I didn't have a game, I played at my friend's house. I think it was Atari in the early 70's.
-
The first video system I played was Atari and the first game was space invaders.
-
It was pong. My parents were so excited when they brought it home. They thought it was the niftiest thing. Wish I hadn't thrown it out! Some fool would be willing to pay big bucks for it.
-
The first game I've played was probably Frogger or Number Munchers, on the old Macintosh computers.
-
Wow, My First video system that I played on was the Atari 2600, I was a bratty 10 year old at that time. First game on the atari was combat or (Tanks) as I would call it. second one was pong. Seems after Atari came out does anybody else remember the other games systems that followed? Intelevision? sega? then came ninetendo in 1985 that changed everything. All good fun times back then. I'm still a bratty kid at heart today at the age of 45. I love my Xbox 360 with kinects.
-
first game i plated was pong then atari.... :dog:
-
My first home video game was pong. I've had almost every incarnation of most systems ever since.
-
The first I recall playing was Pong, followed by Super Pong (with smaller paddles). Watching that episode of "That '70's Show" where the dad and Michael were talking about making smaller paddles to make Pong more fun just cracked me up!
-
I remember precisely what game I played. I played Nintendo, and they had a game about Kirby, the bubble. I remember that my daughter, who was then 8, was given a Nintendo by my cousin when we visited them for Christmas. I was 35. If you think that I was too old to play a game, to me that was the most fun I had ever had. That was 1993; my daughter was born in 1985. ;D :D :icon_rr:
-
My cousins had pong.....
The first system I owned was a basic Nintendo.
-
Atari was my first system!! Those were the days!
-
I believe it was Pacman or Frogger
-
I was a game counsel before Atari that I can't remember the name of and the game was Pong.
-
I had an Atari 400! Awesome!
-
I used to be addicted to PACMAN. I loved that game. I used to play that game hours on end!
-
:dontknow: wow I don't even remember..maybe pacman ??
-
I think my first system was the artri 64/dont remeber my first game i played on it
-
I don't remember the first game, but I remember the first game system. That was years ago and it was Atari.
-
If I recall I believe it was Pacman. Then later came Mrs. Pacman, good times :). I don't see these two games around that much anymore. I do run across them in movie game arcades whenever I go to the movies with family and friends.
-
The only games I really ever enjoyed playing where the first ones I had played....Pacman, Ms Pacman (later) and Battle Gallectica or something like that. Not a big game player at all.
-
Yep, before the old Atari, I had a simple ColecoVision. It was nothing more than Pong and Tennis and only had two dials for control and a reset button on the console. And I believe really the only difference between Pong and Tennis, because they were both paddles returning a ball back and forth, was just the way the games were scored. But then I got the Atari. I think when they originally came out, they came with the Combat game.
-
Yup it was Atari for me too. Wasn't that the first one? Anyway, it was the first one I played.
-
just bought some new games for my xbox 360 and I was playing it.
-
I don't remember the game but I do remember it was Atari. the first one.
-
I was born in 83 so the first video game system i played on was an Atari. Since then though i have played on every system except for the sega genesis and the Xbox.
-
The first system I ever played on was an Atari. I don't know the actual first game I ever played on it, but it was prob'ly a toss up among PacMan, Space Invaders, Frogger, Q-Bert, or Pitfall (I think we spent the most time play those games, although I do remember trying Spy vs. Spy once as well as Cloak & Dagger). The first system I ever had was a TI-994A; it was a consol computer made by Texas Instruments that had clones of several of the classic games, like there was Munch Man which is a knockoff of PacMan. I still remember my dad stayed up late one night playing it and ended up snapping off the joystick! That system also had a cartridge for BASIC programming language, and my parents bought me a book on how to program your own computer game, which ended up being a mini text adventure. The game itself wasn't much fun, but it got me interested in programming, so after that system, I kept getting computers instead of gaming platforms. I actually made a few games myself (mostly ASCII-charater games, along the lines of Rogue, or other text-based games).
-
I don't know if I played on Nintendo 64 or the Gameboy first... But I know my first game is Pokemon Blue
-
First game I ever played was Pong. I was born in '74.
I had a Vic 20 and my brother owned a Vectrex. I have never known anyone else who had a Vectrex. Honestly, that little thing was awesome!
-
Pong
How boring was that?
Then of course there was Coleco Vision....
(really showing my age now).
-
The first system I've ever had & played was either a Sega Dreamcast or a Playstation. I had both of these around the same time and I'm not sure which I got first. The first game I've ever played was a Sonic game (can't remember which one).
I loved them a lot until I moved on to the Nintendo Gameboy line and started playing only Pokemon games lol.

Vectrex was an awesome system and as I video game collector I can tell you that it is also rare and worth a nice amount. A Vectrex with controller goes for 150-300 dollars depending on it's condition.

I have no idea what happened to the one my brother had. I was thinking about getting one for my husband for his birthday. But it is between that a Danelectro guitar. I know he'd rather have the Danelectro. :D
I want a Vectrex for myself, though. Finally! Someone who knows!

The first game I ever played was Pong on Atari. When it came out it we all thought it was so awesome. We would play for hours...hitting that little spot (ball) from side to side. Oh how technology has changed over the years.

My parents still have a working Atari. There are probably 50 games with it. I don't remember which one I played first but a few favorites were Pitfall, Circus Atari (with the paddle controllers), Frogger, Freeway, Maze Craze and 1 I don't remember the name of but 1 player was a little pig and player 2 was the big bad wolf. He tried to destroy the house and the pig player had to keep dropping bricks in the holes. Lol. A lot of fun that Old Atari can be. We also had a hand-me-down Nintendo. Of course all 3 Marios were the favorites. And Bubble Bobble. Personal fave.
-
The first video game I played was Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System on a friend's house. The first game I actually owned was Super Mario 3. I still remember how mesmerized I was by the whole thing. I then went on to get the Super Nintendo along with Super Mario World, Mortal Kombat Ultimate, Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Those 4 games alone, kept me entertained endless occasions, and provided me with countless and countless hours of playtime.

Mario Bros. for NES

The game is Oink released by Activision in '83. It is a fun game. :)

We had a Sears system. It was a rectangular shaped unit with the paddles (buttons) on each side and a *bleep* on the top, depending on what game you were playing. There was a pong type game, break out game & perhaps something else. I can't remember. This would have been in the mid 70's.
-
I probably started on the Atari 2600, but I cannot remember what game would actually be my first. I am guessing Pac Man. My older cousins back then were huge Warlords fans, so this would probably be one of my first ones.
-
My first game system was Atari. We had Tetris and donkey kong. We played it on an old small black and white tv. Those were the days!
-
I think my first game was PAC-MAN
-
It wasn't the sega genesis, but the one before that. I believe it was the sega master system, it had a wooden casing and the gameboxes were white. Ahh...to be a kid again.
-
First system I played was my parent's Atari... And there were a few games on the Commodore 64 also, but Atari was first for me. I think River Raid may have actually been my first game.
-
I played Atari when I was nice and young. I was still pretty young when the original Nintendo came out. For me the video games got worse with each system that came out. My favorite video game system ever is the Super Nintendo.
-
I am not a spring chicken but I have a little age so my memory of the first game game console that I ever used was "Atari". I still have it and it does work. It is so slow and I think it's almost more difficult to play now then it was before. Now I am so used to objects on the screen moving so fast, moving in different directions and of course with better soundtracks too. I still love the old "Atari" games for sure though. I especially loved to play the games that had over 30 games in one cartridge, those were the bomb. Then I received Sega and the list just goes on from there!
-
The first video game system I played was an old Intellivision from the 80's. My parents bought one when they were married and still had it by the time the Nintendo craze started when my sister and I were a bit older. This managed to appease us until one of our cousins got the Nintendo and we begged for one until our parents bought it. The first game I played on it was Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt.
-
Atari 400. First computer as well. Use to use it for word processing and programming. No spell checker or internet though.
-
Atari was the first system I remember playing. In the 90's my son played Nintendo and the early Mario games before the 3D ones and I still remember that annoying music I had to listen to.
-
Halo

You're 8yrs younger than me boy do I feel old! I recall in the dark ages the 1st game I played was hit the ball over with the stick figures as the players. When things got more advance & popular with video games, I recall my 1st video game not involving stick figures was pack man. It was all about hand eye coordination. I was also scared of the ghost chasing him.
-
Asteroids on Atari!!

wow...
Way back when.....
We used to have sheets.. we put on the screen of the TV. Turn the tv on and off to get the static.. then the sheet stuck to the tv.
You had controllers and played tennis...
No clue what it was called.
Happy Earnings!

The system I can actually remember was playing Atari. I don't know what I may have played before it, though I'm sure it was an acrade game somewhere. The game I remember playing the most on Atari was Frogger. ;D
-
The first one I remember was Pac-man.
I first owned a gaming system in the 90's. Sega Genesis, with Sonic the Hedgehog. I accumulated forty Sonics before the first Sonic passed away by something that Dr. Robotnik
did to him. I could sit there for hours playing Sonic. unfortunately, I had a grouchy girlfriend in the late 90's that made me do away with the Genesis.
-
from what I can remember, I think that the first ever video game system that I ever played when I was a kid was the original Nintendo
-
My first video game was Tennis played on an Atari video in front of a Woolco Department store in El Paso, Texas in the early 1970's but had to be after 1972.
-
Our first gaming system was Atari. But I can't remember what game we first played. I just remember having so much fun on it. :) I do remember games like Adventure, Space Invaders, Pong, so many others.

I don't know what it was called. There was a little table at Pizza Hut that had a screen in it that you played pingpong or something like that for a quarter.
-
 the first games I remeber were pack man and pong, where you hit a ball against a wall. Big changes since then
-
