Title: Sunday Newspaper
Post by: elysee24 on March 31, 2013, 06:08:22 pm
I used to buy Sunday Newspaper for coupon inserts, but I don't do it as much as I used to couple of years ago.
Am I the only one thinking the coupons in the Sunday Newspaper aren't as good as it used to be or it's just me?!

I know exactly what you mean! I deliver newspapers, so I get an extra one every day, including the weekend edition. But lately the coupon pages have been little more than ads for Walmart and novelty products. I'm not a huge coupon queen or anything, but I use them when I can. They have been lacking as of late.  :sad1: Glad I'm not the only one who noticed!

I print out coupons, get them through mail or from using the grocery vip card. Coupons from newspaper aren't that good any more

I think with the decline in newspaper subscriptions, companies are choosing to go other routes in their coupons.

I don't think the coupons have been any good for years. My parents are pretty much the only people I know that actually still get a real copy of the paper. I usually go through it but it is all junk to me.

Coupons are great in the big cities.  I used to get the Sacramento Bee.  But.. because we are about an hour away.. they started to charge us 3x what we were paying.  I can get them out of the paper boxes cheaper than that.

Mostly,,, I pirint the coupons online from my paying sites... then get the value of the coupon off my purchase.. and the site pays me 10cents a coupon to print and use from their site.

You can get just as much from there.

Good luck.

Happy Earnings!!

That is true.. the ones you print expire quickly usually within a month.. but some roll over.  As in give you a later date.  But yes you have to print them.
I do not get to use all the ones I print.. but it still benefits me becuase I get paid to use them.. and I shop and buy only things on sale.

I match up the coupons with the ads.. and paper clip them to the ad.
Sometimes I take all my ads to walmart.. and just shop there.

And yes.. sometimes I just end up buyng generic.. depending on what it is.. and if it is really worth the few cents less.

I agree, I just started cutting coupons now, since my household income has decreased tremendously.  The Sunday paper is the best coupons to get, but now there are so many online coupon companies that it is hard to choose from.  Then you want to make sure that they are legal coupons that the stores will honor, because there are some scams out there.

I am a huge couponer.  The Sunday paper coupons have declined, but you can find so many great ones through so many good websites.  It is so much easier to just print the ones I need or want and have others loaded to my grocery rewards card. Especially since my grocery allows me to load coupons for the store brand onto my card too!

I used to get the Sunday paper just for the coupons but stopped my delivery a few years back.

You can get a lot of coupons online by searching for a product or from the coupon sites.

I agree plus with all the coupon site online theres no point to pay for a newspaper unless your going to actually read it. Inbox dollars actually pays you 10 cents per coupon to print out and use the coupons off there site.

Yeah coupons recently are really for products that are too expensive to begin with, or are so unhealthy its not worth to buy too many of a that particular product.

My mother got the Sunday paper for coupons,  but she stopped about 3 years ago or so because the budget was so limited. I loved reading the sports section and the comics, but I too think the coupon deals weren't as good as they used to be. My mother commented on this and recently she said that Walmart or one of the stores stopped doubling coupons so that reduces the savings even further. Plus a lot of the coupons didn't seem to be as a applicable to the shopping.

I agree... The older coupons used to be for saving on a single item whereas now a lot of coupons are good on multiples of the item (eg "save 50 cents when you buy two packages of Oaty Oats Cereal") Also I remember sorting thru my dad's coupon stash, and finding a bunch with no expiration date; now I don't think companies print those no expiry coupons anymore.

I think the economy has had a big effect on stores offering really good coupons.  People aren't shopping like they use so the stores are cutting back on coupon usage.

I can't compare to previous years since I wasn't collecting coupons then.  I pick the papers up at the Dollar Store so I save that way, but I've heard a subscription is even cheaper.

They still have a sunday newspaper?  lol  Obviously I know they still have newspapers but I haven't gotten the paper for years.  If you think the coupons have gone downhill though, you can an unlimited variety of coupons online.
