A lot of my friends have gone though and even the hardcore Star Wars fans who denounce everything Trek are raving about it so perhaps I'm going to have to give it a try.

This movie is going to make trekkies out of jocks and cheerleaders I swear. I LOVED IT!!!! And I have always HATED star trek I was so sad that I had to go watch it with my husband but I'm so happy that I did because I enjoyed it SO Much AND fell in love with SPOCK!!!!!!!! OMG HOTTIE OF THE WORLD!!!!!! :angel11:

Post by: Juoolz on June 03, 2009, 07:15:58 pm: I'm a big Star Trek fan, but haven't been able to see this flick yet! The movies are sssooo expensive anymore and its torture for me to see all the sugary goodies I can't have - can't do popcorn either :'(

We usually just wait until the DVDs are released and rent them free with our Blockbuster.

After seeing the previews I thought it looked like an excellent movie - turns out it was one of the best I've seen in a long time :thumbsup:

Post by: annmohrmann on June 03, 2009, 08:13:42 pm: There were some glaring plot holes, and the science, as always, was suspect, but it was fun. :) It basically sets up an alternate universe where the original crew are only just starting out, so they can make more movies or another show based on copies of the original characters. And it had Leonard Nemoy in it, plus Uhura finally gets a first name.

Post by: snale21 on June 04, 2009, 04:30:57 am: The new star trek is awesome. I'm an old school trekie and I loved it, on the other hand my wife doesn't know too much about the show but she liked it too.

The casting is great, almost everyone playing a younger character we know did a great job. I really like Simon Peg as Scotty.

There is also a lot more action than the typical ST movie which is a nice change as well.

Go see it if you get a chance, I may try to catch it a second time.

i was always more into the next generation than the original series.. so i was almost unsure of whether i would like it or not.. i've watched a lot less of kirk than picard :/ so i was afraid i would feel like a fish out of water, haha ;p

knowing that chris pine would be playing kirk was what made the final decision that i FOR SURE wanted to see it asap ;p it seems that chris pine was completely overshadowed by zachary quinto though.. who i have now decided is my future baby daddy ;p

I was however hoping they would do a star trek voyager movie when I heard they were coming out with another star trek movie and hope they still do I really liked the voyager series.
