I make some bangin' Spicy Vegetarian Chili (that is REALLY, REALLY cheap):

2 15 oz cans of spicy chili beans (I prefer Bush's)
1 14 oz can of petite cut diced tomatoes with zesty jalapenos, undrained (Del Monte)
12 oz medium salsa
1 Poblano pepper, chopped (if you can't find a poblano, just use a green bell pepper...but a poblano adds more flavor)
1 cup water
at least 1 Tbsp chili powder (I like mine HOTTER)

In a heavy saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until peppers are crisp-tender and mixture is heated and blended. Serve immediately, topped with grated sharp cheddar, sour cream, and chopped onions.

To make this a non-vegetarian recipe, simply brown some ground beef and toss it in with the mix at the beginning! (Or use some faux meat like the stuff Morningstar Farms makes!)

I try to cook, but fail miserably, so my "favorite" thing to "cook" is grilled chicken with various spices like lemon pepper, thai or caribbean.  My husband can cook anything though and I cannot pick a favorite thing that he cooks because he tries so many different things, but my favorite comfort meals of his include chili and mac and cheese, and the gourmet dishes include meatloaf (real meatloaf with ground veal, beef and pork), rack of lamb and filet.

I would say tacos, because it's mostly prepping everything. Then it's really fun when everyone gets to make up their own taco.

It is allot of work but I like to make full meal from scratch like :

Chicken and Hearts soup - boiling the chicken and making a broth and making my own pasta

Homemade french bread with rosemary

And my boyfriend's personal favorite a from scratch yellow cake with homemade chocolate butter cream frosting!

It is a great meal ! I made this again recently when he was sick to cheer him up! It worked like a charm!  :D

when you've been a chef, you can cook almost any recipe or even just looking at what someone is doing an you know how to make it - when asked what i want for dinner - it is what ever you want - if i buy it i know how i'm going to use it - butcher meat to preping vegs - the worst part of having been a chef is that you know when the recipe is not quite correct - in 1990 i had an opportunity to speak with the President of the American Chef Assoc - told him we were killing our customers with to much salt, sugar and fat - ask what should be done - the suggestion was made that Chefs should take nutrition classes as part of the certification program - he agree and six months latter a program was put in place - now i'm on a new kick - food prices should be tied to the calories - each calorie cost presently about .017 cents - so if you eat 900 calories a day as i do then the cost for the food for the day would be - $15.30 per day or $5584.50 per year - so there you have it - Health, Happiness, Peace, and Positive Perspective - IMHO >> In My Humble Opinion - The MUSEUM, Zazzle

900 calories a day??? I so I guess you don't do enough in a single day to warrant a normal amount of calories?

I am not a kitchen person as I do not like to spend too much time to prepare elaborate meals.
My favorites are: sprouted grains, legumes, and vegetables.

I love to cook and have many favorites. I also like to try out new recipes, and taste new flavors. You can't beat a nice old fashioned meatloaf and gravy dinner in the winter time or a beef stew. My all time favorite dish to cook has to be my grandmothers shepherds pie recipe, now thats a good stick to your ribs meal.
