This weekend is the Perseid meteor shower! I'm going to try to see some of it, hopefully I'll be able to.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to see it to. I just hope to remember to do so. ;D

You're welcome! I am also hoping I don't forget. I often forget to go have a look at the various sky watching events, and when I do remember I usually don't get to see anything. Maybe this time I won't forget AND will get to see some meteors. :)

I hope I can remember.

Where I live I have never been able to see anything like this. Too many trees and too many street lights :(

I've had a similar problem the last few years... It seems like whenever there is some event in the night sky, it always seems to rain. And then there was the eclipse that my friend was all psyched up to see, and it turned out that North America was one of the few places in the world where you couldn't see it.

I hope I can remember. I love watching the stars. Sometimes get to see a shooting star.

Thank you for letting me know
-
Imglad you mentioned it I use to watch the stars with my grandma
-
It says that is from August 10th to the 13th - do you know which night is the best?
-
Thanks for letting me know. I'm living in an area now where there aren't so many street lights and a lot of traffic so maybe I'll have better luck at seeing one of these now.
-
It has already started since I saw one last night so good hunting folks.
-
I would need to travel a decent distance if I plan to see anything anyway. The problem with living in a very urban place is too much light pollution. I never get to really see the untained sky as some other places take for granted.

They say to look in a really dark place in a NE direction (here in Iowa)... up to 50 meteors an hour... awesome!
-
Well Just my luck as usual it is cloudy and overcast with occasional thunderstorms which my yard is loving so as far as looking up I will be looking up for some more rain since I will not be able to see any meteorites or shooting stars. :(
