Many Americans find themselves deep in debt after they finish college. Student loans, credit carts etc. What are some simple ways to rebuild credit for those with credit scores of 650 and under who don't have a large amount of disposable income?

Start by throwing away any credit cards you may have and work on bringing down you debt to zero.

Having the two basic types of loans helps. Installment loans like with a house or student loans and revolving loans like with a credit card. Of course not missing a payment is pretty important. Plus use a real small percentage of your credit card limit. By using a large percentage of you limit it shows that you need the credit card because you aren't financially stable.

I am now considering a debt consolidation loan, or a credit repair agency. Hopefully I am on my way to better credit.

Are trying to take out another loan? Credit repair agencies are largely scams.

I could use the tips myself. Have been working hard to pay off my student loans and credit cards but I still have a bad credit score.

A good place to start would be to listen to Dave Ramsey's radio show. He's helped thousands and thousands of people get out of debt and rebuild their credit and their lives. He also has a very good book, Total Money Makeover. Also, as someone above said, cut up your credit cards!

Pay bills on time if possible and lower your debt to income ratio.

It's gonna be hard, but stay away from credit cards and try to pay bills on time!!
