I have been told down throught he years that black sodas are bad and clear sodas are better for you if you have to drink them. Does anyone know why that is?
-
I don't know except that I suppose they contain more dyes than say a cream soda or a lemon lime soda. No doubt they stain your teeth. I gave up coke once I found that it would remove rust from the bumper of my car.

I clicked on this to find out what was meant by the term black sodas. And now that I know ....they always looked brown to me...caramel food coloring...doubt that's it's harmful...been an additive for years.
-
The only thing that I've heard is that the dark pops (I'm from MN, so it's pop not soda) tend to have caffeine whereas clear ones do not. Although there are a number of examples that belie this idea (eg root beer (dark) usually does not have caffeine while Mt. Dew (clear) has one of the highest caffeine contents). It could have been that at one time what you had heard was true, but things may have changed at a later time... For example, there was a red food coloring that was shown to be a carcinogen in laboratory animals and so was banned by the FDA, which is why for a time M&Ms didn't have any red candies. But years later food scientists developed a safe red-dye alternative, and now foods (like M&Ms) can use that other red-dye in their foods.

thinking about soda, for me is a bad meaning :D
and to put "black" before it, is even worse, hehe...
because i gave up soda few years back, theres just nothing, i feel okay with just plain water.

drink soda is not healthy, it is proven that the amount of sugar that has even the diet is a cause of obesity in our country
-
None of it can be healthy. I have not had a soda pop since i was 15 and am now 70. Just can't get past the taste. I had a bad cold when i was 15 and i was taking cough meds and drinking pepsi. Well the combo did not work and i was sicker than heck Hence no more soda or cough med (liquid).
-
I have been told that also. I guess dark soda is dangerous for your inside because your body cells can't navigate through your body.
-
Well there was an old trick is if you put in a rusty screw driver into a can of dark soda, generally code, pepsi or dr pepper it'll remove the rust as to where clear soda would just make it sticky and what not.. or you could compare it to light and dark alcohol and how harmful it can be i suppose.

never heard anything like that

Sodas are bad period doesn't matter what color it is.
-
All sodas are bad for you, but sooo yummy. I don't think the color makes a difference.
-
I don't know, darker sodas are probably worse for your teeth.
-
If you are referring to cola, yes they are not good for you, but what is?
-
'black sodas' that remove rust will also clean coins and a lot of other 'magic' things, none of which have any thing to do with them being bad for your health. They do this due to their acid content, which is significantly less strong than say the acids in lemonade or many other food stuffs. Not making any 'good for your health claims at all, but just making a point concerning on of the 'urban mysteries' about cola sodas. ;D
-
I have no idea there is controversy between clear and black soda I just don't know which is worse.
-
Sodas are definitely an unhealthy product to drink. It's bad for the bones and teeth.
