Title: Those who celebrate Christmas, when do you open presents?
Post by: demaina on December 23, 2013, 01:19:05 pm: We've always had the tradition in our house that we wait till everyone wakes up on Christmas morning and start opening presents one at a time. Normally someone has a camcorder and is recording the whole thing while one person takes their turn opening things.

My friends, however, seem to open one gift one Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas day.

Any traditions like that in your family?

Post by: patti4me on December 23, 2013, 01:33:02 pm: As our girls were growing up we would allow them to open 1 present each on Christmas Eve and the rest after they saw what Santa had left them on Christmas morning. Since they're grown and gone we wait till Christmas Day to open everything. Our youngest just lives 2-3 blocks from us and for the last 3 Christmases we've gone to her house as soon as our youngest granddaughter wakes up so we can watch her as she runs in to see what Santa has left her. Then we come back home and I start cooking and wait for everyone to come to our house. We'll open presents before we eat a late lunch. This year the oldest daughter and her family won't be here till the weekend after Christmas so we will do it all again that Sunday after church.

The ONLY person in our family who opens presents on Christmas Eve is my son - only because it's his BIRTHDAY! Everyone else waits for Christmas morning, UNLESS we won't be seeing someone on Christmas Day.

Now, I wait for our Christmas dinner.

Post by: luvh8tragedy87 on December 27, 2013, 10:41:14 pm: Always been Christmas Eve, which I prefer anyway. Not just because we open our stuff a day early but for some reason I like that it's at night. It's just a certain feeling I get. Plus the Christmas lights look better at night.

Post by: cathy37 on December 28, 2013, 06:01:10 pm: We allow the kids to open one present on Christmas Eve. Usually this is a new pair of pajamas that they can wear Christmas Eve to bed and then they can unwrap the rest on Christmas morning.

Post by: misi49 on December 28, 2013, 10:52:49 pm: We open all our presents on Christmas eve. We first go to church in the early evening. Then come home and eat a snack and then the fun begins. That has always been our family tradition. The next day I have the "fun" job of cleaning up the big mess.
