I tweet from time to time. If I knew more people using it I'd probably be on more, but as it is I get tired of dealing with the deluge of stuff the service seems to revel in.

Well, I read the rules and it said it was bad only if it you profit (get money) out of your link or it's a referral. Twitter links are simply "twitter.com/sample_user_name," and there is no referral feature on twitter and you can't make money off of followers, so I don't see why not.

the only time I ever tweet is when I have a TWEET-TOOTH and buy a "Snickers Bar"........that usually calms my craving to tweet (LOL),,,,,,,then I settle in for some "WEST AND WEWAXATION".....LOLOLOLOLOL.....Gawd, I am too much LOLOL :wave:

I don't use Twitter. I just cannot see what interest anybody would have in knowing anything about what I am up to and I really don't have any desire to read constant bulletins about what somebody else is doing.

That would depend on whether or not you're a fan of someone, like Britney Spears, Asthon Kutcher, Tom Hanks, and many other celebrities use twitter.

That's one thing, but wanting updates of what some random person from a website forum is doing is just creepy. Only topped by the desire to want other random people to know what you are doing.

I have never gone on the website. I have heard that just about everyone does it. I watched the new show Hammertime and he does that every time he makes a move. It kind of made the program a little boring.

Why do you post on these forums? Using your impression of Twitter, you're only posting here to waste your life and nobody really cares what you're saying. We know that's not true, or great numbers of people wouldn't bother with forums.
Twitter is THE fastest form of communication and method of spreading news at the moment. It is THE fastest way to share a new blog post, share an interesting blog post, a website you want to share, anything. It is currently one of THE easiest, and best, ways to market anything...be it GPT links, your blog, your website, an article you wrote, an affiliate program, etc.
It's kind of funny to see people blow it off as if it's nothing, when you have bloggers/webmasters driving thousands of visitors to their blogs/websites with Twitter, and making thousands of dollars because of Twitter (I'm not exaggerating). Perhaps look at the big picture, not blow it off as if people are only on Twitter to see random updates from celebrities. It's a hell of a lot more than that. Those who embrace new Web 2.0 developments are the one's who benefit. If you wish to see examples, I'll happily provide them.

I don't know anything about Twitter, and I don't really care. What makes it better than myspace and facebook (which I rarely use anyway)? With those sites, people can know what toothpaste you used this morning if you so chose to share it. Why do we need another site like that?

Because there's a hell of a lot more to it than telling people you just brushed your teeth. If you put even a week into using it, you would know that and not make silly, uninformed comments like the rest of people who say it's "stupid, pointless, etc."

If you refuse to even take a look into it, what makes you think your opinion is an informed one? And it's evident you don't know anything about it, because it's being used for much more than telling people you're putting your shoes on.

Uhmmm...it is used for that. What can one really say with only 140 characters...so is having Lincoln's journal enough to say what he was going through on those days...or how about the 140 characters of a recipe, or The London Opera twitting you an opera...Humanity is going down hill with this tweeting. It makes everyone look as if they can't and will not learn how to write or remember anything with all the short terms and the really really short description of what one is doing for every second (no one cares!)
What's next biology in 140 characters or less or a class on TWEETING?!?!

I do! I love to go and vent when something really upsets me that other people might care about. For instance, my most recent Tweet is regarding how disappointed I am in the Eagles for signing Vick. I know it's one voice in millions (probably), but when someone searches Vick or the Eagles, there will be one more post on there that shows some disgust. It's good therapy :)

Oh-have you guys seen that commercial with the kids asking their parents to stop writing on their Facebook page and stop Tweeting all the updates? I love when the dad is texting in "I'm sitting outside on the porch right now" or whatever and the kid goes "I KNOW you're sitting on the ... ugh..." It cracks me up every time!

LOL-there's a lot of Twitter-Haters out there! It is kind of stupid-especially since 80% of the tweets ARE "I'm sitting on the couch" or "Going to take a shower now" or something stupid like that. I really do like to get a feel of the "pluse" out there on events or topics-when something happens in the news, it's sometimes fun to go to Twitter and search a key word from the news piece you want to feel out. Again, a lot of it is fluff, but some people make a good point! It really IS overrated, though....

No I don't use it either. I don't have any interest in following celebrities and such, let alone my own friends. In fact, none of my friends use it anyway. If they're doing something important enough that I would need to know at that instant, they would probably text or call me.

I use Myspace (Zynga games) and Facebook (communicate with friends/family), at least 5x/day. I don't tweet. It seems like just another Facebook.

I have a Twitter account and I read other people's Twitters (Tweets??), but I don't post anything about myself. I do change my status updates frequently on Facebook though! I am a FB addict. ;)

I believe you can set it up so that when you update your facebook status, it automatically goes to twitter too.

I have a facebook, so I find it ridiculous to tweet. Whatever I have to say, I'll write in on my FB status. It seems like people only follow twitter for celebs anyway. I don't get the fuss!!

Twitter is like the status part of myspace and facebook...You can post a short sentence about anything...how you are feeling, what you are doing, put a link to a business, video, news story, anything really.
You can follow someone...sort of like being a friend...and they can follow you. When you follow someone, you recieve their updates...It's as simple as that!
The people who are making money probably have a lot of people following them and they are marketing something to them. I myself made one for my offline business a week ago or so and got a job from it...the guy was thrilled to get a contact through twitter!

Nope. Social network sites are making face to face interactions nearly non existent anymore. I've seen people use their phones to tweet a message to their friends instead of just texting them. It's crazy!!
