If you could bring back clothing from any decade, which would it be and why?
-
Long summer dresses!
-
I love retro clothing. I guess I would pick anywhere from the fifties on up to now. There are some beautiful clothes that I see in the movies.
I wish some company would get wise and supply clothing from some of the series you see, like Sex and the City, or some of the great old movies. What great clothes! What fun to wear!

I would bring back the clothing from the 1980's because things were a lot cheaper back then. I could find clothes for less than $10, versus the $20 or more now.   :rainbow:

I like long summer dresses, too; although I have seen them this year in catalogs and online. I may be old school, but I am so tired of seeing young girls, especially, wearing clothes that they really should not be wearing. Picture Walmart shoppers!

Do you remember the "shoulder Pad" era? I recall seeing the biggest, most intimidating shoulder pads on Dallas and Dynasty. In fact, I do recall some of my work jackets having large shoulder pads although I didn't realize how unusually large they were at the time. It's only now that I look back and think, wow! That's a statement!

I miss old fashioned and classy, and I have to agree with the others about long summer dresses! Nowadays girls think they have to bare all to look good. And what is up with skinny jeans? I just don't think I'll ever be able to accept those.

I do, indeed, remember the "shoulder pad" era. As a matter of fact, I still have some shoulder pads I pin to dresses and tops that I think need them. I am one of those whose shoulders droop, and I felt my clothes looked better with a little shoulder padding. I did not like the overly large pads, but I still order clothes that I sometimes find that state they have light padding.

Classic styles that really haven't changed much over the years.

The 1940's. The clothes were AWESOME then. I've got photos of my Mom wearing the most fabulous outfits. Not to mention that the MATERIALS these clothes were made from were just beautiful. Go ahead and try to find a pair of GABARDINE pants these days! I know if you could, you'd be paying through the nose for them!

I think I would have to choose from the 80's which is when I was growing up. But in order to wear some of those mini dresses I used to wear I'd have to loose a lot of weight. Not model material anymore. But it wasn't only the mini's I liked.

Not a thing would I want to bring back....fabriccs and styles are so much more flexible

do you watch Downton abbey on PBS? The 20s and 30s clothing the women wear is beautiful.

It is really hard for me to buy clothes since I have gained some weight (no much). But I wear a pw and there is just not the nice clothes out there that us old fogies can wear. I do wear some long dresses and skirts. But it is so hard to get reg. pants as I am very long from my shoulders and very short from the other area so women's pants come almost up to my rib cage. Sure am glad I can wear sweats at home to stay warm. But I d like to dress up when we go some nice. Oh well.

Bell Bottoms.....
-
I would say the 70's. I like all the bell bottom jeans, headbands, stacked shoes and gypsy skirts.
-
I wore my shoes that was 30-years-old, they broke apart as I walked in them, it was hilarious. They were very cool shoes, I miss them as I remembered them.

If you brought back the styles of the 80's they would still have the prices of today. :silly:

I really liked how they dressed in the 80's. I am a huge 80's band fan and i love the style from that decade. although i would not bring back the big hair, on me anyways.
-
I'm not sure but if I live long enough I'm sure i will see all the styles come back several times. Boy if there isn't enough things to make ya feel old seeing fashions from your youth will definitely do it lol

160's..i love the bell bottoms..i wish i could still find a pair made the old way :rainbow:

The hairspray used during that decade alone probably accounts for the ozone layer problems, lol.
I wonder if Auqua Net is still around?

I'm not sure there are any clothes styles I've seen I would like to bring back unless I'm dressing a mate (flapper girl in the 20s). As to clothes in general from other decades I just look in my closet as I still have things from 20 years ago I can fit.
-
I like long dresses also and pedal pushers, if anyone remembers them.
-
I liked the styles from the 20s and 50s. Would love to own some clothes like that.

I like those periods too, for women's clothing. I have been to some vintage shops where you can find those styles and WOW were women small!

I like the long summer dresses too. They are so comfortable and beautiful.
