I see ad all the time saying one station has better gasoline than the others. Do you find this to be true or is it all pretty much the same. I have a friend that swears if she uses Chevron gas it lasts longer. What do you think?
-
I have been hearing about this for years and all i know is when we would go those no name gas stations that people only went to because they were in the middle of nowhere our gas mileage would suffer. Nowadays with the newer cars you can see how many miles you can go on a tank of gas from a specific place.. that's what we would do. Empty the tank and fill'er up
-
My dad used to tell me that off brand gas station is like getting the bottom of the barrel.
-
I use to have in the distant past a form of loyalty to Shell stations, but as prices continued to rise this thought process changed. Nowadays, I tend to target warehouse clubs for the majority of my gas needs (if they have one) as they tend to be cheaper. I am open to using off-brand gas to a degree too.
-
I think they are all rip-offs. I usually get my gas at Kroger and get extra $$ off buy buying groceries there.
-
They are all the same. You can't see what's going in your tank. I just buy the lowest price gas, unless your car requires a more expensive type of gas.
-
It depends on how new is ur car. If it's an older car it doesn't matter what kind of gas or which gas station u go to.
-
I have heard this before, but I don't know it to be true. I personally like Speedway b/c if you have their rewards card, you earn points for gift cards and other free stuff. So, it's not a quality thing, but a reward thing!

I have heard this and used to think it wasn't true until last week and now I am not so sure. My husband and I were on our way home and stopped to get gas. Our truck was running perfectly. After we pumped the gas our truck all of a sudden would not start. The tow driver we called said they were getting lots of calls this past month where this had happened. Now honestly who knows, it could have just been my bad luck. But we was something we deff thought about.
-
I'm not sure. I haven't noticed a difference in quality. ???
-
Probably not...it's all pretty much the same stuff, just branded differently and from various locations
-
We usually got our gas in wallmart its cheaper.
-
My husband thinks so but I am more loyal to the stations that I get a discount for my gas.
-
We usually use Kwik Trip or Kwik Star. We have a debit card from them that gets us 3 cents off each gallon of gas plus 10% cash back on anything (except alcohol and tobacco products) bought in the store. Plus they guarantee their gas, if our mechanic says a problem is caused by the gas we used, Kwik Trip pays the bill.
-
I always thought the all gas was the same but recently I started going to a gas station near me and have found that for some reason the gas seems to last longer in my car, so even if the gas is a few cents more expensive at that station, I will still buy from them. :)
-
It all depend on the gas station and the prices of the the gas. Some are so much higher than others.
-
yeah, chevron is the best and arco is the worst
-
Depends on what they sell sure gas price does help get people in the place but if you ask any gas station owner they really don't make a thing on gas just the stuff sold inside the gas station. So many claim so many things idk what to believe. I do like to go to archo/ampm stations they do provide a lot more then just gas. Chevron and shell do to just not as much

I agree with ktheodos. There is no difference between the brands of gasoline. There is probably a small difference between the grades, though.

That is a good question but I think they are all about the same. I do know that one time I did gas from some old ball gas station and the gas seemed to burn pretty fast. Maybe it was just a bad barrel. :-\
-
They are all the same. I do hear stories that some people say it doesn't run in their car. Many others
-
I Usually Go To A certain Gas Station where I Live because Its Cheaper And You Get Points On A Card
-
Any differences are minimal at best.
-
I think it all deends on the price of the gas station
-
I always use PB as long as i can. In my opinion BP is "green". I know that is not completely right :(
-
Interesting topic. I'm no gas expert, but I think there is a difference in the quality. From what I heard is that cheaper stuff is not as pure as the more expensive stuff and it (the cheapie) lives a lot more gunk in your gas tank.
This is a test for Consumer's Report to do to get the real truth.

Gas stations are not what they used to be. I remember the era of attendants waiting to help you out with courtesy. Now, you are lucky if you find one with full service because most of them are self-service.
-
Not really in my opinion, I think they are the same... I think some people will argue about the quality of gas but nothing big.... Warehouse stores like Costco and Sam's Club got the best deals for gasoline.... I see lines/heavy traffic due to the price compared to others
-
No. For me the best gas station is the one with the cheapest gas.
-
All gas brands sell different types of gas some stations even trick you into spending more cash on a cheap oil that won't even last a week.
-
i couldnt really say...,my son uses my car to go to work (he works at a BP) so i just have him get gas while he's there lol. makes it a lot easier on me! :glasses-nerdy:

I have always wondered this? I wish there was some actual way we could figure this out, I guess except just keeping track of mileage when filling up, but even then did you abnormally accelerate too quickly too many times, travel more on the highway then constant stop and go, too many things that could just not make it constant to figure this out. lol I really take advantage of the grocery stores with their items on sale and having gas points associated with a product.
-
I think they are all the same!
-
I prefer Shell and Chevron, I think their gas is better quality. It seems to last longer (I get better has mileage) and their stores are nicer over all too.
-
I think it is true. Some stations have gas that just doesn't seem to be very good.
-
I can't tell much of a difference between the gas at one station or another.I go to the one with the best price that day.
