Title: What author changed your way of thinking?

This is a really difficult decision because I love different authors for different things but if I had to pinpoint only one then I would have to go with Alice Walker. I have never read The Color Purple in it's entirety, but I have seen the movie countless times and although that doesn't sound like the brightest recommendation, I am saying that she is my favorite author because of another story of hers. I am referring to "The Third Life of Grange Copeland". I love her other books as well but out of all the books that I have ever read of any genre, she created quite possibly the worst villain in modern literature in Brownfield Copeland. The title character Grange wasn't the best father to Brownfield, and as a result he inadvertently sired a man so full of rage that he will even rebel against a good life for himself because of his self hatred and rage. I don't want to ruin it for you if you've never read it but it is definitely a great read that will bring you to tears.

There are many influences in this life.
I did enjoy my philosophy classes back in the late '70s comparing philosophers.
That was stimulating for me.
I have a few favorite authors.
I am discovering new ones too from time to time upon recommendation.

i think clive barker is one of the only ones that made me really think. The way he words things and questions he poses, it makes you question if everything is even real

I read a lot, and there are a few authors who changed my way of thinking.  I credit most of my thinking to Les Brown, Reb. Joel Osteen, and T. D. Jakes. :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :rainbow: :rose:

Wayne Dyer.  He was the first spiritualist I remember being influenced by.  I have several of his audio books and even saw him live once.  :peace: :heart:

I love the parallels of Hemingway and Fitzgerald as well as their extensive use of similes and metaphors.  JD Salinger was wonderful with Catcher in the Rye which is why there have probably been so many takes with re-writes of the same subject matter/scenarios. Confederacy of the Dunces was a wonderful book as well but the author's name eludes me right now. Shakespeare and Chaucer were true artists in word play but my favorite, thought provoking author would have to be Ayn Rand and her book "Atlas Shrugged". I am of the belief that we are in the midsts of what she detailed in that book with the stifling of brilliance.

This is going to sound cliche, but definitely I have to include Sylvia Plath. I read The Bell Jar as a teenager and it just felt close and familiar in some kind of way.... Others are S.E. Hinton and Francesca Lia Block. :heart: :heart:

I read books from different authors. The only book that really changes my way of thinking is the ' Holy Book' meaning the bible. The author of this book is God.

I like learning about philosopher's so all these names are great. I would say off the top of my head C.S. Lewis, but their is probably another one I like more but just can't remember. Peace to everyone.

I don't know which one to pick Had. Gabby Hayes was a good one I think and a lot of those were also good another one is is Roy Rogers sidekick that drove the Jeep called Nellie Bell.
