that answer will be as diverse as the people who contemplate it...each will have an amount based on their perception of their own life.

Each person is different so there's no right amount of money... It's the freedom to be who you really are and do what you really want in life.

I can't speak for others, but personally if I had enough to pay my bills, buy groceries and maybe a little extra spending money now and then, I'd be happy :)

I would like to have a few millions, so that I can buy a house in a nice neighborhood, and not go to work for the rest of my life.

Enough money for me is enough to pay for all my necessities, Home, car, bills, food and just a little extra things I don't need, but want.

Enough to pay bills, buy food, household needs, a little put back for emergencies and a little to spend. I don't need to be filthy rich but I would like to be comfortable.

The answer to that question changes all the time. Sometimes we don't need much so we don't need a lot of money. At other times a lot of things go wrong and we need a lot of money to fix them. Of course there are some people that want more and more money whether they need it or not; and in that case they never feel that they have enough.

Wasn't it Rockefeller that answered that question with the response, "One dollar more."

It depends on your spending habits.

Well for me enough money is that amount which enables me to pay my bills each month and leaves me enough to feed my family.  More than enough would be an amount over "enough" that would give enough money to buy clothes and shoes when we need them and maybe have some entertainment funds.

I want enough money to be able to live where I want, pay all the bills, eat how I want, being able to look how I want and be able to do a job I love that won't necessarily make a decent amount of money.

Until that happens I'll keep plugging away doing surveys to have some extra money while I'm in college

Enough money for me would be the amount that would pay off all my bills, take care of my family, donate some to charities, and live comfortably with no money worries.

Imagine if this world would be like if there is no money exist? when there is no need money for the whole world.  Would the robbery be still existed? would people still be working?
Title: Re: money
Post by: demaina on September 02, 2014, 09:05:46 pm
Enough would be whatever amount it takes for me to live comfortably without working unless I wanted to.

I would figure if you had the money in the bank and it was earning interest, I would need enough to earn a certain amount in interest consistently.  If you assume a 1% interest rate, you would need whatever amount in the bank times 100 so it would give you your current monthly salary maybe plus an extra thousand or so to help combat inflation.  I always figured having a million in the bank would be safe, but you could probably survive on 250K if need be.

I don't need a lot of money because I'm a minimalist and I keep my life simple.  I think we have enough money when we're free to spend time doing things we enjoy doing.

Such an abstract question, but the answer is when your money starts making enough money to live off of

Enough money seems never enough when you have some sort of debt. I'm learning to live on less and it can sting, but the rewards will be here soon enough. As far as what is enough money I think the amount is what keeps you comfortable.

It depends on the person, situation and need.  In today's market there is no such thing as having too much money especially if you don't have a lot of it.

Well a person can never really have enough but I'd say enough is enough when you can live comfortably and not have to live paycheck to paycheck

I don't know. I read where when a famous celebrity died he felt cash strapped and his estimated worth was 50 million.  This I also don't understand.  I also read when you focus on what you have instead of what you don't have you feel wealthy. it's all relative to quote another.

Unless you are one of the super rich, I don't think there is ever enough. Something always turns up, or breaks down. I just want enough to be comfortable, and I don't have any idea what that amount is.

An unidentified amount that enables a person to live the his dream. For me that would include food shelter, clothing, travel, purses, and charitable giving.

That question will be answered differently by everyone.  What is enough for one may not be enough for someone else.  I want enough to live comfortably.

You are definitely right alice44. Some people needs more money and the other people don`t. Usually some people always wants more money even if they already have lot more than the other people have.

Enough to pay all the bills and have a little left over to split: half to save, half to enjoy (movies, food, shopping, etc.). But money does not equal happiness; that must be found within.

depending on how much flash you want, i think that for some people there would never be enough.  if i can pay my bills and have a little left over i am happy with that

Can anyone tell me where to  find a money tree  :)   We live just fine.  We don't spend on things that we don't need and we buy what we need.  We have money in the bank for emergencys  and i think that is good.   Our Life is good

I think that people can be completely happy without money so in some instances I would say that money isn't the end all and as such having no money can be enough. Tibetan monks exist without any money and live a happy, somewhat peaceful, enlightened existence. There are some homeless people out there that are existing with shelters when the weather is bad, donated clothing, and food programs that provide their sustenance. I think the amount of money needed really depends on what a person feels that they need in life. The previous two examples show that money is really not needed. It is when we want a more materialistic lifestyle that a need for money presents itself. I have two children who have not learned about a more existential form of life. I was given all that I needed growing up and as such will not deny my children that same life style so my need for money is greater.

That's a smart idea that unfortunately even rich people don't think of sometimes. I often think how can someone who once earned millions per year be now broke?? I guess it's easy though when expenses are piling up and more money is going out than coming in.

I would love enough that I could live without needing to work.  I figure enough that if I put it in the bank I'd earn a decent amount in interest.

How much money is enought?

That's a very individual thing.  Some people are satisfied living on very little, while others always want more.  Whatever makes you happy is enough.
