Just curious. why do people run red light and stop signs? That's the most dangerous thing you can do on the road. I don't understand.

I think it's probably due to people being in a rush to get someplace. I think it's better to be late and alive, rather than be dead, or cause an accident. Between people running red lights, coasting through stop signs, and kids texting, you sometimes feel you take your life in your hands When you are on the road.

Laziness, and not paying attention, and trying to get through traffic as fast as possible

I agree it probably being late or not paying attention is why this happens

no one watches where they are going anymore..i see so many people going down the road and texting..they will be swerving in other lanes..

Everyone is in a hurry, rush rush, we have more to do then we can get done I quess.

I've noticed that most drivers who run stop signs and red lights are talking on their cell phones.

Yes it is very dangerous. My hometown never even had a stop light!!

Most of the time they are just in a hurry to get wherever they are going. Sometimes they just are paying close attention.

Mostly in rush or sometimes they just do not want to stop. If they do stop it is like a slow down then they go, which is not even stopping.

Run into red lights mostly not paying attention. Run into stop signs is laziness and did it intentionally.

I think most of them are just not paying attention and or are just plain stupid. I personally know how it feels when someone runs a red light. totaled my pickup, tore my back up 1 1/2 years of therapy. Whiplash on top of it. and then 3 moths after the first wreck an indian woman tried to beat a yellow light and smashed into me. . Yep just just plain stupid and their head up there you know what.

All those reasons are valid.
We live in a MEEEEE world now.
Time and unforseen occurrence befalls everyone.What that means is you arent a victim of someones stupidity or selfishness!And it costs yo an injury or your life!

Most of the time it's just not paying attention, being distracted... sometimes it's being in a hurry and thinking you can make it, no one is coming. It's so dangerous.

I think mainly it's because everyone is in such a rush all the time.

For the most part I think is a lack of observation. Some people are also impatient, feel they just have the right, or at least with Stop Lights, their thoughts of duration (if they stop only briefly) is just shorter based on their requirements.

people is very impatient. I can't understand, they can leave the house earlier if they going to be late. They drive too close distance to your car, if anything happen you have step on the emergency break, the back car would hit you for sure. ::)

Some drivers are blind or visually impaired!

I think our minds sometimes "wander" when we drive because a lot of the driving process becomes "automatic" after you have been driving for a few years. I really don't think that most people that go through a red light or a stop sign are intentionally "running" them. I think they just miss them. It doesn't excuse people from doing it, it is a reminder to the rest of us (assuming we haven't missed one and don't remember!) to keep our mind focused on the task of driving.

Well i really don't think anyone means to i think that is just a product of people not paying attention to the road and the signs of the road.

Reckless driving, drunk, or they didn't see it... Some people disregard lights because they believe they can turn (even though it says do not turn on red)... One time when I was driving back from the gym a night, the car next to me kept on going

For the most part, the Police are not around the enforce the laws. People simply do not give a damn. The government spit out these laws, but if no one enforce them, then the people continue to do as they want. I've seen too many people turn right on the red light that boldly states no turning between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

No clue. Last night I was in Philly and either I ran a stop sign that I plain did not see because it was really dark and rainy or someone else ran one because I almost ran right into them. I have been wondering about this all day. ??? ??? :confused1:

I think that some of them just like taking a chance but they are also taking a chance with the other guy

They are in a rush or just think they can get away with it until they get caught.

They just don't seem to be paying attention or care, it is terrible driving out there you really have to drive for yourself and try your best to anticipate what the next person is going to do, I prefer to live to see another day, if I miss my exit I just go to the next and turn around, maybe late but seems best way to avoid accident.

I ran a stop sign once because I was preoccupied with thoughts of my father who had just passed away. I got hit by a car who was expecting me to stop. No person was hurt, just the two vehicles.
After that I am much more focused on the task at hand...Driving.

Yes, I don't understand too, why can't they leave the place earlier, sometime I just wonder what reason they are rush on the road. ???

stop signs and stop lights is very important even though I sometimes do not obey

They are just dam idiots that don't know how to read and cheated on there dam DMV test.

I always follow the rules when it comes in driving, I`m afraid of the cops.

People who don't make a full stop for stop signs are just awful people.

My husband is one of the worlds worst when he comes to stop signs and lights. He stops at the last second or even out in the other road and then has to back up or runs the yellows lights all the time. It is a sore subject with us. I bi*ch and he does not care. If we take my dad somewhere I refuse to ride up front as they are always talking and hubby is always looking back over his shoulder. Sometimes I want to just scream at him. Oh well I guess I have to live with it as he is too old to try to train anymore.
