So far so good.....at 57, I am taking ZERO prescription meds.
I hope this continues for a loooooonnnnngggg time.
-
I hate all medicines, I'm not against it but I usually avoid it at all cost. Thankfully I'm not taking any.

I am 65, almost 66 years. My MD just prescribed a statin for my cholesterol; however, I'm going to try to limit my fat intake and start working out again like I used to. We'll see what difference that makes...otherwise, I may have to try a low dose statin. However, I've heard there are sometimes side effects, like muscle pain and soreness and even can be slight memory loss. Anyone out there take a statin and have any issues?
I also just had a bone scan and I thing my MD will recommend an osteoporosis med. I am not sure about starting one yet. I know calcium and vitamin D intake is important as well as weight bearing exercise. I have been bad about the exercise the last year or so and MUST get back to cardio and strength training. I feel the difference!
I DO take sleep meds several times a week when I have had several nights in a row unable to sleep or only a few hours. I don't function well on only 4-5 hours sleep over two days!

Yes, I am 67 and take 8 medications, half of them for blood pressure alone. Even with all those meds, I am pretty healthy and enjoy a full happy life.
-
I take 19 pills a day. Also on O2 and inhalers.
-
I take medicine for blood pressure, heart and cholesterol. Cholesterol isn't high but the medication is to protect my heart.
-
Unfortunately yes - at 44 I am taking about 6 different meds. I have type 2 diabetes and it stinks to high heck!
-
Yes in my opinion I take a lot - more than I wish I had to take although I am sure it is less than some. My poor deceased husband took a lot probably 10 or more. I take 4. One is pain and one is a muscle relaxer but they hardly help with my mobility and chronic pain issues. The other two are a beta blocker and a blood pressure pill. Other than that just vitamins and a baby aspirin. ::)
-
Right now I'm on one prescription medication. So that's cool.
-
I take several medications. I take 2 pills for diabetes (metformin and januevia), Lipitor for high cholesterol (it was only 1 point over normal) and 1/2 pill for high blood pressure. I also have arthritis, but only take supplements for this because I am allergic to arthritis medications.
-
I take no medicines at all. Praise God!
-
Absolutely not. Prescription medications are the third leading cause of death each year in the US. I had a heart attack about two years ago and I have come to realize how to really take care of my health. All of my test results are great through diet and natural supplementation.
-
I don't usually take prescription medication. I get natural medicine from a natural food store.

10 different scripts a day. 3 for diabetes, 2 for blood pressure, 1 for nerve damage, 1 for arthritis, 1 for potassium, 1 for acid reflux and 1 for pain relief. Some I take once a day and some more.
-
I have two prescription medications. One for high blood pressure and one for depression. My dad is in his 80's and he takes no prescription medications. Never did. All he takes is a baby aspirin once a day and he is as healthy as can be. He's very lucky.
-
I don't take any prescriptions and hope I never will. I take vitamins and supplements though.
-
I take two medications. One is a medication for arthritis. The second medication is for pain in my feet.
-
As of right now I don't take any prescription meds, but I do take several kinds of supplements.
-
I used to but not any more because I felt that they made me feel worst.
-
Yes I take about 6 now :( Too many
-
I wouldn't say a lot but I do take a couple.
-
I take one birth control lol we aren't ready for another one quite yet, but thats all i take :)
-
I too only take one medication for high blood pressure and one for asthma and I too am over 65 so we must be doing something right!!!
-
No, I do not take too many prescription medications. Most of my prescription medications are for everyday allergies. At the moment, I only take one prescription pill and two prescribed nasal sprays.
-
No way. I try to stay away from taking meds if I dont have to. Pain meds lead both my brothers to other bad choices in life that they scare me!

It is the strong pain killers that people don't need to start with that gets people addicted. You cannot give people oxycotton for 2 weeks then just yank it away from them. I know what you mean though. A lot of people get messed up just from the hydros doctors love to give for every little sniffle. I know a dentist who will give them for pulling a tooth. Heck, they told me you will be fine if you need something take Tylenol. lol. And he girl took the hydros home and crushed and snorted.

Fortunately I don't take any. Only thing I take regularly is a multivitamin every day, and magnesium capsules to help with muscle spasms I get from working out.
-
I had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago so I was taking 3 medications but as of yesterday I'm only taking 2.
-
Right now I'm taking a steroid injection for the next 4 days. I'll be back on the baclofen for spasticity. I'm considering going back to the multiple sclerosis therapy I've been taking. It's another shot, but my doc is willing to give me a new prescription for a 3 times a week instead of daily injection. Oh I forgot the occasional Zanax for anxiety. Bleah! I've never had to take many medications before the ms diagnosis (2005).

I envy you with only one medication. I use to look at my elders and wonder at the number of pills they took and here I am now in my 70s and have a full pill container. I look at it that science has provided the medications that make our lives fruitful for more years.

I don't take any prescription meds. I take a whole aspirin each day because of the stint & coiling in my brain. My husband takes multiple prescriptions multiple times a day.
-
I don't take no meds i think i have to be really sick to take meds
-
I am taking zero prescription pills at 61, but my husband only takes two.

I was in the ER last week which resulted in three new meds. I'm done with those now but do have two ointments and a pill - all twice a day.
