Title: Old TV shows
Post by: sgluckadoo on March 08, 2015, 02:51:57 pm
Do you watch any old TV shows? I don't have a lot of channels and find myself watching some pretty old reruns.
Matlock, Walker Texas Ranger (and boy is it bad- I cannot believe how awesome I thought it was when I was a kid), Everybody Loves Raymond

those are a few of the old ones I resort to when nothing is on.

My husband and I both enjoy Columbo.  What a great show that was.   They sure don't make them like that anymore.  In fact, it's mostly the older programs that I enjoy.  Now that I'm thinking of it more, I loved the show Cagney and Lacey.  I liked it so much that this is what I named 2 of my cats.   :cat:   :cat:

Lately,  I have been spending more time watching old TV shows than the current new shows.  I have been watching Golden Girls and Full House reruns.  I also have DVD's of The Beverly Hillbillies, Leave it to Beaver, Gomer Pyle, The Lucy Show and The Jeffersons.  I could watch them over and over again.  They are so funny.  They don't make shows like this anymore.  I could care less about all the reality TV programs.

I was on an A-Team kick for a while.  Talk about culture shock when one of the guys had to stop to use a pay phone to call a team member, seeing people smoking in a hospital, and them talking about what a great interest rate on a mortgage was at 10.8%!

Lately I'm getting back into MacGyver - loved that show!

I like the old shows a lot better than I do the new ones.  Andy Griffit, I love Lucy, Golden Girls, I love Raymond,  Murder she wrote, Matlock, any thing that was wholesome and clean.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

I guess 'old' tv shows might mean something different to each of us.  I really like Home Improvement, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Golden Girls, hands down. Although nowadays, they are on like three channels (Logo, Lifetime, and TV Land) and so they are on ad nauseum. It takes the mystique out of it sometimes. But I digress. The other show that I like is Walker, Texas Ranger. Granted, in retrospect, it was a bit cheesy and predictable at times (but what type of shows like these aren't), but it was awesome and appealing when I watched it as a child. :-)

We watch some of the older movies and a lot of the gospel shows that are old but the music is really good.  Once in a while we will watch Walker Texas rangers, Gunsmoke and some of the others. There is not really a lot to watch anymore. some of the new are the best. Also watch like wicked tuna, the DIY shows and *bleep* stars.  a lot of reading and computer. Now that the weather is getting better have been outside a lot, fishing will start soon. Hubby really likes to go and so does my dad. I like too also. But I go to keep an eye on my dad as he does not always take care of him slef because he gets to interested in what is going on with his fishing. He went town last year and I had to call 911 put him the hospital for a day. Scary it was. We are not going to be taking him anymore when it is so hot outside unless it is in the evenings.

I love watching old shows.  They were the BEST!  The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Andy Griffith, The Beverly Hillbillies, Leave it to Beaver, and The High Chapparal were some of my favorites.  I wish I could find some of the even older shows I watched when I was little like Kukla, Fran and Ollie, Mr. Peepers, Dobie Gillis, Hopalong Cassidy, Jimmy Durante, to name a few.  My list could go on and on.  They don't make 'em like that any more.

OH, yes, I like a lot of old shows! Especially westerns; my favorite show is Rawhide, but I like a lot of them: Bonanza, Wild Wild West, Wanted Dead or Alive, Tales of Wells Fargo, and more that I can't remember right now. My favorite non-western show is Combat. We get DVDs of the old shows, so we can watch them whenever we want, and not wait for them to be on TV. They are so much better than the new shows.

Expect for sporting events, we watch old shows and movies almost exclusively.  Old noir films, old half hour shows, old westerns.  My husband records Highway Patrol which we watch with breakfast every morning.  10-4.

Yeah. I like the old TV shows too. I have been watching The Monkees on Sundays. It was corny! But I always loved their music. I do like the 60s stuff. Mr Ed, Bewitched Mission Impossible, and if course Star Trek. Now they do have some of the 79s shows on too. Like them. BMaston12

I really like the old shows, they aren't like the shows that are being shown now.  I hate reality shows or just anything that the producers will throw on TV.  They don't think about the characters or the show.  Money and Greed shows it's ugly head.

I still watch Daniel Boone and Bonanza. the Big Valley, The Rifle man, Adams-12, Chips, The old Star Trek with William Shatner and they still bring a lot of good memories.  Although Some of the blood scenes looks fake when I see them now. Someone said that was ketchup.

When I can I watch Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Rifleman but I always watch The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The 3 Stooges and the old school cartoons. When I say old school cartoons I mean like Betty Boop, Bosko and Popeye and of course the old Merrie Melodies
