This issue seems as if it is only a matter of time before weed is legal medicinally, and the argument for recreational legalization is winning the battle as well more and more. I don't even smoke myself but for some reason it's important to me to fight for this freedom of allowing people to put something in their body that doesn't affect anybody else. It is also a moral issue on the grounds of people serving LIFE sentences still for non-violent drug offenses. This generation is wising up to stuff like this, we don't want to pay to incarcerate people for weed anymore. What do you think pros/cons of legalization? :rainbow: :) :peace:
-
Although I don't "smoke" myself; I think it should be legal and heavily taxed to help with the heavy burden on us taxpayers! Those who "smoke" are going to buy it anyway! Why not make them pay dearly?
-
I think weed should be used only in medical situations, for those with seizures or other health conditions where weed can make a difference then only for those cases it should be legal, other then that it should stay elegal. I don't smoke at all and I avoid those who smoke or smell like smoke, because I wish to breath fresh air!
-
It's been legal here in Colorado for well over a year. for those of us that don't smoke, it doesn't matter. People that come to visit are fascinated. I think the pot shops are an eyesore.
-
I don't care either way. I understand why people dislike the idea of legalizing it, but I don't really see what it would hurt.
-
I don't think weed should be legalized because too many people will abuse this substance and people will sell it to children.
-
I don't smoke. But I say legalize it, regulate it, tax it! It is something that we seem to be able to grow in the US, so I see jobs from the growth/production. Also I would think a safer product without harmful contaminants (whether intentional or not) would be sold than what is found from the shady local drug dealer. I think once legalized it won't be a big deal any more. Forbidden stuff is always more exciting.
-
I haven't really studied up on the matter so I don't have a definitive answer, but I feel like it might be better illegal, however if legalized I would tax up the waazoo.
-
i dont use weed but i think that it is no more harmful than tobacco
-
Yes I certainly do - I am 61 and I think the whole issue is ridiculous. It is a natural substance, it helps people both emotionally and physically/medically and if anything should be illegal it should be liquor or tobacco which I refuse to believe doesn't cause way more problems. Anyway everyone has their own beliefs.
-
It is legalize here in Washington. I am pretty sure there will be more and more States legalizing it in the future, and then some studies shoes the brains of those who used them and those who don't and those who are currently using them will have their brains shrink and shrink until I don't know what will occur. Maybe some think it only affects them but I would say it's not just them it affects all those who care about you. So I don't agree with it at all.
-
Absolutely I believe it should be legal. It's happening anyway and personally I would rather be on the road with someone who has smoked a joint than someone who has consumed several drinks. There are far too many people in prisons due to minor drug offenses. I'm all for legalization.
-
I think it should be legalized. Think about all he money that could be made.
-
Some cities are already legal and taxed like cigarettes.
-
No. I also do not agree with it being used for medicine. It is not a medicine. It is a mind altering drug. Nothing more. Everyone can have their own opinion. But this is mine.
-
I don't really think it should be legalized because it is a mind and mood altering drug. As far as I know it is still a fact that it kills or impairs brain cells and lord knows most of us can't afford for that to happen to us lol! I tried it when I was much younger and before I started having children. It made me feel too funny to want to continue trying it. My husband doesn't think it'd hurt for it to be legalized but I do.
-
Yes
-
No I don't but I am sure that it will be soon.
-
Why not and tax it.
-
I definitely think NOT!!Lets look at some things about it.
Does it contribute to doing other drugs?Yes.I have seen so with my own son.
Does it cause accidents?Yes.A woman years ago drove the wrong way on the PKY here in NY killing many.Weed in her.
Health issues?Yes.I even caught bronchitits from it over 40 yrs ago when i smoked it a few yrs.
Medical advances?I am not sold on this, but they dont regulate it the right way.Its abused.Other help available in drugs.
Smoking dangers?Causing fires,smelling etc.
Greed? Many are hurt trying to make money.Drug wars etc.
God doesnt approve of it in bible.
Id say NOT too many positives!!
PS:Memory loss?Without a doubt.Hmmmm,what was i talking about?

Does the Weed legal in the old day? I miss the old day, they should keep like the old days before.
-
It is in my state to be honest I dont care either way

You will care when you or someone in your family is hurt by some idiot under the influence of "pot" and drives the wrong way on the interstate or does something else stupid and kills someone in your family. People smoke pot and they are stupid. There was a guy who came to work under the influence of pot. He was so slow and stupid he didn't know what he was doing. And done something that could have killed a co-worker. He was sent home permanently.

the good choice is of course AND thank goodness it IS LEGAL IN SOME STATES already
-
YES.
-
NO, Never
-
Why not tobacco is and they can make more money on taxes
-
No, not really. If you check out people who drink a lot, they are not very coherent. Marijuana does the same thing and both leave lasting effects that are definitely not positive. :bad:
I don't know why people enjoy being out of their right minds. I don't want to lose one iota of my brain power. That being said, the United States is still a free country, so people should have the right to partake if they so choose. :peace:
-
I think maybe for medical purposes.
-
I don't smoke but yea sure why not legalize it. Once its legal most people will stop smoking it anyway because they're doing it now just because it is illegal. There still needs to be some type of guidelines though
-
I think that it should be legalized by the Federal government, and allow the individual states to decide whether they want to legalize it. I find it really hard to believe that the federal govt. still treats it as a class 1 controlled substance. For drugs to fall into that classification according to the 1970 Controlled Substance Act:
Schedule I substances are those that have the following findings:
A. The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
B. The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
C. There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.[27]
Even though marijuana doesn't really fit any of these criteria (yet schedule 1 drugs need to satisfy all requirements) Marijuana's potential for abuse is not as strong as other drugs in that a user may only have a psychological dependence for it; it has never been shown to elicit a physical dependence making it relatively easy for people to quit whenever they choose. There have been numerous studies as to the medicinal value of cannabis mostly in areas of pain relief, digestive issues, and spasms such as the muscle spasms of MS. It can be dispensed in forms that would allow for accurate measurements (eg MN allows medical marijuana in non-combustible forms in order to regulate the amounts given in pill or other forms); in fact there have been more studies that are looking at very specific cannaboids, their interaction with cannaboid receptors in the body, and how to accentuate the medicinal value of those chemicals while decreasing other side-effects. Despite all of this evidence, it is still considered a schedule 1 drug while cocaine is considered a schedule 2 drug meaning that in the eyes of the federal government, cocaine is safer than marijuana!

Yes
-
no, only for cancer patients.
-
I think that anything the government tries to control can start to get ridiculous and unneeded, so no i dont think it should be illegal i wouldn't prefer it myself though.
-
Yes I think weed should be legal because it is nothing bad about it and it won't hurt you. Some people make it out to be bad, but in my opinion its not, it is harmless.
-
Um, well...Marijuana is legal in several states. I live in Colorado and it hasn't really affected anything other than having to smell more marijuana at converts which is kind of pointless because the dispensaries sell so many edibles that are not as lethal to those around you. I don't do marijuana, but think that marijuana is safer than alcohol and can be enjoyed in it's natural form whereas alcohol has to be processed. I think that legalizing marijuana in all of the states would kill sixty percent of the drug traffic coming over our borders. Marijuana is taxed, in Colorado, at a very high rate which keeps the black market in business. I believe in sin taxes. I think that anything that is bad for you should have a higher tax. I believe that ten bucks tax on a pack of cigarettes, six pack of beer, entrance to a gambling establishment or a gram of marijuana with eight dollars of that tax going back to help those that are messed up is fair.
-
Yes ,
Im hear in wa state and i see it help with crime rates going down.
-
:) Personally no. There are other alternatives out there. :)
-
Does any body know why it was made illegal? It was put in the same as herion. Please yes to making it legal.
-
Until government and law enforcement have a test for DWI/DUI for marijuana when stopping a vehicle for erratic driving, NO! They are a danger to other motorists, just like alcohol.
Those states that are legalizing it for public use without any thought of the problems were nuts to bow down to the drug crowd. They only thought about the revenue they'd be getting for the state, not the people it may hurt. Already, little children are overdosing on brownie-laced marijuana and that's definitely not good.
I do think if it helps those with a disabling disease like cancer pain, seizures, etc., that it should be regulated by a physician, no one else.
