When was the last time you actually bought anything as a result of an advertisement here?

You are right for the most part, I believe. In my case, I would say that 95% of the time advertisers on these sites do little to affect me. However, I have a few positive and one negative experience. In the negative case, one advertiser was so annoying that I chose to not buy the product/service the next time I had the choice. In a positive case, I decided to use a particular service I saw advertised in a positive manner. It was a financial services company.
