A friend gave me a recipe for bread that only takes 3 ingredients.
It takes 2 cups self-rising flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 can crushed pineapple.
Combine all ingredients, and pour into a waxed paper-lined loaf pan.
Bake 1 hour at 350.
And you're done!

That's sounds really good with the pineapple in it may have to try that!

Sounds good.

I'm really surprised at the simplicity of this recipe and am amazed that it works. I will have to give it a try as "easy" anything works for me! When you think how complicated some bread recipes are using yeast or even instant yeast, which still has to rise, it's hard to believe this would work. However, I'm willing to give it a try. Thank you!

I was surprised that it worked so well.
I worked in a high school cafeteria in my teens. One of my favorite jobs was mixing and baking the bread. It was all made from scratch, and it was sooo good! Made me into a life-long bread baker. :)
I'm always on the lookout for bread recipes, the easier the better.
Glad to share. :)

Will try this and sub the pineapple for apples or some other fruit to see how that turns out. Thanks for sharing
-
thank for the recipe .I hop you can get more?
-
I am going to try that as it sounds really good.

was this bread dense? Im guessing with that much sugar it was a very sweet bread

No, it wasn't dense, it was almost as light as yeast bread. And surprisingly enough, it wasn't really that sweet at all. Maybe because I used pineapple packed in its' own juice, which didn't add more sugar to the recipe.

You're welcome. BigEd. More what? You need some easy recipes?
-
Ok, I must make this very soon. Seems very simple and on top of that I love pineapple, so it's a win-win for me.
-
Wow, that sounds like something even I could make.
-
This easy bread sounds wonderful. I must give it a try. :)
-
I love pineapple! But that sounds more like a "cake" recipe than a bread recipe!
-
Wow, this sounds really interesting and very simple to make. I may give this a try when I have some free time. Thank you for the recipe.
-

It does, I guess because of the sugar. But it cooks up like bread!
-
Curiosity killed the cat, I have to give this a try! Hoping it turns out as good as you say :) If not I will feed it to the birdies outside lol
-
Sounds easy enough but we are trying to stay away from carbs so might be a while before I get around to trying it. Thanks
-
That sounds so simple, I would love to see how it turns out, and I'm not even that crazy about pineapple. My mom used to make pineapple upside down cake in an iron skillet when I was growing up, so pineapple bread would be a bit nostalgic.
-
that sounds awesome.. should give that a try!!
-
I am going to have to give this a try. I love pineapple. It would be good for a breakfast toast I think. Thanks for the recipe

whether it is "bread" or "cake", this recipe sounds yummy.
I need to make a grocery store run....only ingredient I have on hand is the sugar. I'm guessing regular flour won't work in this recipe?

Oh my! Watching Clara cook her "poorman's meal" about made me cry. I didn't grow up in the Depression, but we didn't have much in the 50's-60's either.
I was one of 7 kids; plus my grandfather lived with us after grandma died, so my Mom cooked for 10 of us daily.
We ate potatoes at every meal. I just always thought it was because we grew so many of our potatoes.....and potatoes "stick to your ribs!" I never thought we were "poor".

Actually, the first time I made it, I used All Purpose flour.
Add salt and baking powder, and it works just as well.

I will have to try this easy recipe, sounds good with the pineapples in it.

-
That's sound easy!! I should try this some day.
-
That seem simple! I hope after I try your recipe, it'll turn out right. :) Last time my friend give me one recipe, it come out pretty bad. :) You don't want to mention it again. :)
-
Wow - that is easy! I bet it would work with any fruit like apples or canned peaches. SOunds sort of like a dump cake. That one is fruit in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan, add an angel food cake mix to the top and pour on a can of ginger ale. Bake and that is all there is to it.
-
Now that's an interesting recipe for bread i think ill try it
-
Very unusal. What happen to the yeast?
-
That sounds good. I have never made homemade bread before. I may have to try that.
-
Never tried making bread with pineapple but I have tried it with jack fruit, and such.
-
I will pass this recipe on to a friend, as she loves to bake cakes , I am not a good baker at all, but thanks for sharing I am sure she will try her hands at it!
-
I do not bake or eat bread
-
we bake wheat bread all the time every couple of weeks. love the smell of it while its baking :)
-

It doesn't need yeast. The baking powder in the self-rising flour causes it to rise.
-
pinapple sounds good!

Thanks paints for replying and letting us know that All Purpose flour with some added salt and baking powder worked in place of the Self-Rising Flour.
Now all I need is the crushed pineapple :)

Gosh that sounds good - make that great - I absolutely love pineapple and this recipe is unbelievably easy. Do you dump the juice in with the pineapple too? Wow I have to try this thanks for the share.

Yep. Just open the can and dump it in, mix it up with the flour and sugar and bake. It's really easy to do, and it tastes sooooo good!

I've gotten carried away making this, because it is so easy.
I only had the one can of pineapple, but I started thinking about other things I had on hand that I could try in it.
Canned pumpkin-not good.
Cranberry sauce, like you buy around Thanksgiving-good. A little too sweet.
Applesauce-add a little cinnamon, and it's great.
Frozen blueberries-heaven! :) Like blueberry muffins. Yum!
-
That sounds delicious
-
I'm so curious to try this.
-
Definately sounds worth a try
-
mmmmm sounds interesting, thanks for the info.

Sounds good and easy. Think I've heard that one before not sure. I should try it some day. Maybe serve with cinnamon sugar on top or whip cream. :silly:
