Thoughts about it?
-
I think it was not called for and then to take all of his family and 40 moochers of congress. We end up paying a fortune for it. He does not care what it cost the taxpayers.
-
It seems like everything else with him. If you think poorly of it, then people say you are biased against him...and other words. If you don't see a problem with it, then people say you are biased and he couldn't do anything wrong no matter what.
-
I don't see what the problem is
-
I agree with you nannycoe1, I don't see what the problem is. Presidents have gone to different part of the world for peace and no one never have a problem, so what's the big deal?

Ah yes, another vacation for the Obamas! Ice cream and bike rides in Martha's Vineyard, puttings on the green, trips to Hawaii and now a wine and dine in Cuba. I wish I could vacation like this on taxpayer money but we peeons don't get the royal treatment, only the slobs in government. Reminds me of the song "Piggies" by the Beatles, people in government take and take as the citizenry lives paycheck to paycheck. How about the President's eldest daughter and her brand new $20,000 dollar dress? We need hope and change alright! Hope that power returns to the people (yeah, right) and change that life improves for the working class.

I think it is about time the Cuba hostility ends, there are more important issues to be dealt with & far more pressing issues.
I don't see what the big deal is for members of our government to go over there, they need to at least once. We just "made friends" with them, so I understand for diplomatic ties that this pomp & circumstance needs to occur. Do I like that so much money is spent, of course not... but our taxes aren't going to go down if they don't go AND at least the money is spent on OUR government business & not given away to others.

Why did all of those people have to go on a diplomatic venture and I'm not sure that he should have gone at all.
-
Free trip at he expense of the U.S. taxpayer.
-
He needed to stay in the usa. geez they could of Skype. Waste of money

Obama's mother-in-law went on this trip. He took his wife, his kids, AND his mother-in-law on what was billed as a diplomatic trip. Looks more like another taxpayers-get-stuck-with-the-bill vacation to me. What a sorry excuse for a president.

It always amazes me how people always criticize President Obama for the vacations he takes as if he doesn't deserve to take a vacation. He's deserving of the vacation days he takes as any other human being. I did some research on the number of vacation days taken by President Obama and as you can see below he has taken fewer vacation days than past presidents. This information is from CBS News.
******************************************************************************************
Each Christmas, President Obama takes a vacation with his family in Hawaii and this year was no different. Last Friday the First Family touched down ready to enjoy their two-week trip. Yet critics like Republican congressman Mike Rodgers attacked Obama for leaving the Oval Office, citing the recent Sony hack and police protests as reasons to stay.
However, compared to past presidents, Obama has taken relatively few vacation days. At this point in his second term, former President George W. Bush had taken a whopping 405 vacation days. Before him, Bill Clinton took a total of 174 days for himself. Another big vacationer was Ronald Reagan, who took a total of 390 days during his time in office. In comparison, Obama has only taken 161 vacation days to date.
As with past administrations, the White House continues to affirm that the president can do anything while on vacation that he would normally do from the Oval Office. With modern technology, communication is rarely an issue or a major concern for the president.
This is not the first time the President has been criticized for taking a vacation during an urgent situation. During Obama's first term in 2009, Obama addressed the "Underwear Bomber" situation on television from Hawaii. On the other hand, in 2012 Obama flew back to the mainland midway through his vacation in order to deal with the fiscal cliff negotiations.
This year critics cited the recent Sony hack attack as a reason for the president to delay his trip. But as for the government's response to the incident, for which the FBI has blamed North Korea, it will probably take several weeks for various departments to come to a conclusive decision, leaving little reason for the president to interrupt his vacation. :peace: :peace: :peace: :peace:

I'm not sure the Cuba trip was a vacation. I think it was more about establishing diplomatic ties which you can be for or against. I am against. Although I don't know what he was doing in Argentina doing the tango.

trying to accomplish things in his last year

GREAT IDEA!
-
And finally someone shows mercy for a country that has been a target of so many injustices. Kudos for Mr. Obama!
-
Evidently he feels that it was important for his legacy but his going to a baseball game and doing the wave right after so many people were maimed and killed was totally out of line. If he wanted to do that photos should not have been permitted. He has no sense of priorities and respect.
-
Actually I think it was long overdue! We should have a good relation with Cuba. It's sad that they have all those antique cars and can't even buy the parts for them. It's pretty awesome to see them though!

Waving with the Castro's was a bit distasteful, and un-american to say the least....
-
don't care enough to think about it... :peace:

I do not think it was a vacation, it was a diplomatic trip, and took advantage that he was making the trip to take the family and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. But no matter what he does there is people still criticizes everything. I believe that if the plane was going to make the trip anyways then let the family tag along, I believe that the $$ they spend in there is their own. The government spends more $$ on other things that on a trip that the President makes, he deserves a vacation like anyone else who has a JOB

I think it is good... Mending strain relationships with countries that the United States should have not commited under Monroe Doctrine
-
Why do people have a problem with Obama taking vacations. The man is Human, not a Robot. The stress factor can't be good. It seems the man can't breathe before some idiot has something negative to say about it. Get over yourself.

I honestly am hearing about his trip to Cuba today. I assume that it is a diplomatic-based trip, in which case it would be interesting to determine what he and (Raul) Castro would be discussing.
