I hate to say this but I'm going with the soda. Yes, even after reading all of the horrible things. Of course I also smoke cigs. and eat junk food. Go figure. I hate water, unless it's in the ice cubes that keep my Coke cold!

I like soda, but I don't drink it very often... Water is almost always my choice. It's free, it's healthy, and it won't make you fat. Haha.

I use to drink a lot of soda pop, about six glasses a day when I was a teenager. After I got married and was expecting, I cut down to one can a day and then finally switched over to sweet tea. I know water is better for you but it's hard to drink it unless I'm very thirsty.

I drink mostly water and allot of it. If I do have a soda I drink coke zero. It doesn't have sugar in it at all.

If you want to try drinking water better try adding just a bit of lemon to it. If that doesn't do it for you try watering down your tea a little bit more every day.

Without question it would be water. I very, very rarely drink any carbonated beverages.  Very rarely will I drink a root beer, which would be one of my carbonated weaknesses.

Now, if these companies were more willing to make these drinks with unrefined sugars, maybe I'd drink them a tad more, but then they'd complain they'd have to charge oh so much more. The refined sugars and high fructose corn syrups are evil I say. Evil!

Love it! Where is this from?

I have heard some of this before. You know what a good invention would be...some sort of portable gauge to measure your dehydration...that way you would know to drink more....

we could all get rich on this!  ;D ;) :bs:

I love water.  I try to drink 64 ounces every day.

Good thing we have R.O. water (reverse osmosis) to filter our water as we have very hard water in this area.  The unfiltered water tastes rather nasty.

I enjoyed the report on Coke....I didn't realize it was THAT bad.

Give it up for water, woot woot.  The great thing now is that flavored water is so easy to come by so if you're one of those people who avoid water because it's flavorless, try flavored Dasani or Aqafina...Even the crytal light mixes are great and it's still drinking more water than sugar.  Definitely no acid in it like coke or pepsi.

Something else you should know is that pilots are not allowed to drink soda before flying. It is illegal for them to do so.However, you see kids and adults almost subsisting on these things. It affects brain activity.Go figure why all those kids seem to have some kind of disoeder and are out of control.

To be honest, I always get a soda. Not always because I want, just for the fact it so convenience. I am out and about most of the day and I am struck with  notion water should be free. Althought -abit unhealthy- and -a tad expensive- compare it to the benefits of sodas to cigarettes. Then,I don't feel bad... and I can breathe easy too.
Title: Re: WATER vs. SODA POP

yeah and cigarettes aren't bad when compared to the negative aspects of taking arsenic... So Cigarettes arent so bad either :) You can always find somehting WORSE, it don't justify anything though.. .Or else its ok to be an alcoholic as long as your not a crackhead etc. :) It's kinda funny that your logic is basically "water? that should be free! I wont pay for that when I get get some complex poison for the same price! Its another example of how most of us all value cost savings and price more than health... That's why fast food will never die and people will! Most everyone is guilty of this I admit as most people do the same and drink soda, not just for value, but there is lots of enhancements/drugs in the soda that makes you feel good (high) and water don't have that..

I know how important water is because I am a nurse. I wasn't aware of all the things Coke Cola could do. The only one that I was aware of was the battery! I don't like drinking Coke. I'm more about Pepsi but I don't drink soda too often.

i drink a lot of water, have a huge glass of water next me as i type, but i do like soda. i'll drink a can here and there, usually i go for water. to me, drinking a soda just makes me more thirsty, but water quenches that thirst.

as for the things that coke can do... about 7 years ago i was working as a waitress at this small family-owned restaurant. one day the owner's wife commented on how much soda the waitresse drank and told us how unhealthy it was for our bodies. most of the girls just shrugged and laughed it off but i was interested in what she had to say. she took me and one of the other girls into the walk-in and pulled out a big hunk of meat, if memory serves it was liver, and put it into a shallow dish. then she poured some coke into the dish, about halfway up the side of the meat. she covered it with plastic wrap and and stuck it back in the walk-in. she told us to check on it in 2 days. 2 days later, we went in there and lifted that piece of meat and the underside was almost completely gone. the meat had literally dissolved in the coke. now i know there's always a chance that she went back in there and did something to it, just to put a scare into us girls to get us to drink less soda but either way i have cut down on my soda intake... considerably!

actaully i have been pretty with the pop intake of late. I have really cut down the amount i drink. before i probably drank on average 1 can of pop every 2 days now i drink a bottle of pop maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. I am also trying so very hard to increase my water in take. I guess for my weight i really need more like 20 glasses of water a day
