Title: Which Way to See a Movie Is Cheaper?

I'm asking because I want to see Finding Dory, now that it's in movie theaters, but according to price, should I go see the movie in a theater or wait until it's available for rental?

It is usually cheaper at home. Depending on how you rent. In my area Redbox is a little over a $1 a night to rent. However, apps on streaming devices usually charge around $5 to rent. It still sounds expensive, but considering ticket prices can be up to $13 in my area for the theaters, it's still cheaper.

You could always check matinee prices if you really want to see it in theaters.

Usually it is always cheaper when you rent it instead of going to the movie theaters. If you want to see it really bad then you best go to the theaters because usually it takes a while before it is available to rent.

I rarely go to theaters because it's so expensive. When I do it's something I really want to see on a big screen and I smuggle in my own drink and snack.

I would look to see if you have any type of discount theaters in your area or even any summer specials. I know one here has kids movies on Thursday morning for $5 for the ticket plus a small drink and popcorn.

I would wait til it is on Redbox, so much cheaper, watch it at home with your family for a lot less.

I am a fan of discount movies myself.  If that is not possible, I just wait a while and once the movie has been in theatres a while, the price may go down.

cheaper to rent but you have to wait for it to come out on video

It is always cheaper to rent movies. That said it is nice to see a movie when it first comes out. Certain groups like AAA or AARP have movie dicounts.

The best way and cheapest way is to get yourself a Fire TV Stick - one price and all done - then you can see any movie you want without extra cost

It is so expensive to go to the movies, I have not been in years. I just wait for TV or netflix.

I have found patience is the cheapest when it comes to movies.  Once they come out on DVD (Which seems like right away any more) You can rent a movie from the library for free.  Our library is connected to a system where if thy don't have an item but another library does, than they'll transfer it.  It's a bit of a waiting game.  But every dollar counts as far as I'm concerned.

It's definitely cheaper to rent but I don't do either anymore.  I paid a one time price for this nice little device that hooks up to my tv and I get unlimited movies, tv shows, and much more.

In my opinion it is cheaper to rent but if you really want to see it then the theater is not a bad choice either. If I really want to see a movie I will go to the theater.

I don't go to the movies much anymore, because my daughter and I use to go, but she is married now.  When we went we would usually try to go to a matinee because they are cheaper.

I am super happy with Netflix for watching movies, and I designate my FusionCash money each month to pay for it.  Since I made this goal for my FC earnings, I am consistently cashing out every month.  It's a priority for me now.  I don't want to use my "other" money to have to pay for Netflix!  It's totally cheaper than going to the theater.
