Title: Back to school shopping > who's ready?
Post by: Dvessella1983 on July 07, 2016, 10:37:07 am
who is ready for that trip to your local mall, shopping center and ready to lug all those packages back to the car and ready to get that son/daughter all the stuff they need for another year. I am ready. What about you?

I don't consider it to be back to school shopping.  I homeschool my daughter.

If you live in Ohio (or just across the border and can come in state to do your shopping) wait until the weekend of August 5-7 to do your back to school shopping.  That weekend is a statewide sales tax holiday on back to school items.

During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:Clothing priced at $75 per item or less;School supplies priced at $20 per item or less; and School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.
So you can't get a tax free computer laptop or a tax free mink coat, but a lot of other items are eligible.  Stores will probably further entice Ohio shoppers with sale prices that weekend.  But be careful! Once they lure you in the door for tax free school supplies on sale, they'll try to sucker you in to buying other overpriced items.

Happy shopping!

My son's school has a complete list of supplies where you order through the school. Back to school shopping was done last week for me. They deliver to his class on the first day of school.

I am not ready yet. I am usually one of the early ones, but my funds are not where I need them right now so I have to wait. I should be ready by the tax free weekend, which will be crazy, but fun at the same time.

Hehe... Yep, the 4th of July just finished; time to start shopping for all of your needs (at least needs that you'll have several months later). While your at it, better buy a few bags of candy for Halloween....

As a child I was NEVER ready for back-to-school anything.  As an adult and a parent I was ALWAYS ready for back-to-school.

Now that I've survived parenting young children I find that I'm neutral about it all. :)

I don't have any kids, but I am a little confused.  It wasn't very long ago that school let out.  Won't it be a while until they go back?

Fun fun fun. I don't like that thought it gets too close to winter. I had enough of that this year already.

I am already done, but, only because my oldest is off at college and gets all of her things on campus. My youngest goes to a private school and almost everything he needs comes through his iPad. No need for theme paper, pens, pencils, books. It is one of the many benefits of his sixteen thousand dollar a year tuition! That and non-parent coaches, smaller classrooms, teachers that care, curriculum that includes theology and art. My son was about to go to a public school until 30 tenured teachers left and the coach, for the sport my son plays, was replaced with a morally/ethically corrupt parent.   Both kids buy new clothes whenever they feel the need so a special trip for clothes shopping isn't really necessary.

I am so glad I don't have to do back-to-school shopping.  My baby is now a teacher.
