Title: Any Atari fans here? 2600, 5200, 7800, or Jaguar?
Post by: AdamH1978 on July 18, 2016, 03:23:46 pm
My first game system was an Atari 2600 and I loved playing Star Wars Return of the Jedi, Pitfall, Frogger, Dig Dug, Adventure, Night Racing, et cetera.   Any other fans of the retro game systems?  They still produce games for older systems such as the Atari 2600 at a certain online forum/website with the initials AA.

You're playing my song Adam! The Atari 2600 was my introduction to the gaming world too. I loved Pac-Man, Centipede, Pong, Air-Sea battle and the other ones you mentioned except Dig Dug, I couldn't get the hang of that one. Then the Nintendo came out and my eyes popped out of my head due to the superior graphics but the Atari is timeless and will always be remembered, just like the arcade!

I grew up with Atari! My mom and dad had an original and a second generation. I loved playing them on the various games!! I was the Pac-Man Queen!! LOL! My mom was best at Centipede and my Dad was great with Astroids and Missile Command!!

I even got them a digital one a few years ago I have to set up!

I sort-of grew up on Atari games..... I had a friend a few houses away that had an old Atari, and when I went there to play, we usually played Frogger, Pitfall, and Pac-Man. The reason why I say "sort-of" is that in our family, my dad got me a knock-off: a TI-994A. Although many of the games made for that system were simple knock-offs of Atari's games (eg Munchman was TI's version of Pac-Man), the one thing that the TI could boast as being better was that it was a full computer, not just a gaming system. It had a keyboard as well as joysticks for user control, and the BASIC language was automatically included. Thus I was also starting to learn how to program games, not just play them.

Yeah, I had the old 2600 when I was a kid. I'd love to dig it & some of my old games up again & give them a go.

Yeah, DigDug was the best. I still have it for my old PS2.

Ah the atari... What was the other one around the same time?

We played space invaders I think and pitfall. I was very young, so I barely remember, but it was my older brothers.
