Only kidding! I love him. He has a hot spot right under his tail. I took him to the vet and they gave him antibodies and a spray to put on it 3 times a day. I swear this dog has licked the spot to death. He has now made it bigger and looking worse. I finally had to go out and get a cone for him. Ok so cone is now on, but the dog is freaked out. I'm talking about an 80 pound dog. With cone on now he can't walk through a doorway, can't go outside (through a sliding glass door). I have no idea why he is acting like this. What a big baby!

lol...omg! I was ready to yell at you. I hope your dog heals quickly Nancy! Lots of prayers to you and your dog! The struggle is real, i've been there also. Have patience with him and lots of love. Have a wonderful week ahead. :D

Hope your dog feels better soon.

I love my dog too but I realize they are just big kids.

Sometimes an oatmeal bath will help relieve it. Try looking up home remedies for hotspots.
-
Aww, poor baby. I hope he feels better. Have you considered contacting the veterinarian for some recommendations.

aww....hope he feels better soon...my cat runs from me whenever i open a flea collar..will not come anywhere near me for the rest of the day...he pouts all day...animals are something else...i thought we were gonna have to get a cone for our cat when he hurt his foot..kept licking on it and pulling bandage off...

Wish ya had a picture of him to share. Poor guy is probably miserable...that's gotta be driving him crazy! I only had to cone a dog once. The cone went on right after surgery so she was never able to aggravate the area to begin with. Pets are our babies...expensive ones at that.

lol I'm not a dog person but I'm glad this was a joke. I have to become a dog person soon though bc I told the kids we could get one next year.

Breath! :)
Picture it as YOU having a burning itchy annoyance that you cant do reach or do anything about, you wouldnt be very comfortable either, poor dog :(
Luckily Ive never had a dog myself that has had that problem but family members have

Could be allergies our dog used to do some of that but not that bad .Is there a webmd for dogs look into that .
-
it can be hard on them when they have something new happening like the cone. I'm sure he'll get used to it. It could be worse with the vet though, our cat has to be sedated every time we take him to the vet...he attacks the technicians lol (he's a bit on the mean side)

Yeah, dogs HATE those cones, LOL. There's better products out there. Here's one sold at Petsmart that's an "inflatable" collar that basically does the same thing a cone does, only doesn't get in the poor animal's way getting out doors, etc. Maybe you'll want to give it a try:

I learned one thing when I owned a big dog. they are the biggest babies when going to the vet. I used to have to pick my dog up and carry him in and he was about 100 pounds
-
Wow I hope he gets better soon
-
Poor "little" baby. I hope he gets better soon!
-
Hope he gets better soon must be very uncomfortable for both of you.

Nancy i love dogs.I have a mixed dachsund and beagle. My wife and i spoil her to death. She was biting her tail.We would strictly warn her NOT to do it.I think eventually she listend.
Maybe i woulda suggested for you to warn your dog about the cone and he if disobeyed to put it on him only for a little while till he catches on if he disobeys its cone time........LOL!!
The best to you and poochie!
-
That poor guy. Maybe you should put the cone on his back end to prevent him from licking it. I'm not a dog owner so I may not know what I'm talking about.

I had so many problems when I had to put a cone on my mastiff for awhile (she had an infected back-paw that she wouldn't leave alone). First of all, it was difficult finding a cone big enough for her. And then she also had difficulty getting through doors with it on. Except that she would just power her way through. Sometimes the cone would bend enough to allow her to get through, but more often than not, the cone would just crack (making it useless) and I'd have to go find another one. SMH

who in the world kills their dog

Lvstephanie, he plowed through the door finally, and broke the cone too! Shaquaysha2210 - I was only kidding with the heading, I guess you didn't read my complete post and just the title, everyone else realized the title was a joke, sorry you didn't.

I hope your baby gets to feeling better real soon. We had a similar situation happen with one of our cats. We believe he's allergic to fleas and even though we don't have a flea issue right now, he could have been reacting to a bite he had some time ago. Thankfully, after his visit to the vet, he's doing much better now.
A soft cone was recommended for him but after my husband and I looked at each other and our kitty looked at us, it was a unanimous decision: No Cone for Kitty. :cat:

They are all big babies but you have to love them.
-
Have you ever had an itch you couldn't get to stop. Imagine that feeling for a dog. Poor guy.
-
The cone restricts their vision so it is going to bother them and it throws off their balance when they are walking again they can't see to the sides. My dog got hit by a car when he was 3 months old and he refused to leave his leg alone. We had 2 cones on him. One a little bigger than the other trying to keep him from chewing and licking his leg.
