It still doesn't necessarily answer the question though. I suppose I won't be getting an answer here, I just felt the desire to ask anyway.

In the UK and Japan black cats are a sign of good luck. Isn't it funny how a black cat in the U.S. is bad luck until it crosses an ocean? ::)
