Do any of you participate in any surveys that require access to your webcam?
I do not. I refuse every time, I don't care what the payout is. The thought of a stranger watching me is creepy, not to mention all of the horror stories you hear about webcams getting hacked and people being spied on. Maybe that sounds extreme and a tad ridiculous, but I'd rather know I've secured some piece of my privacy that I can control instead of living in naïve ignorance.

Never have and never will participate in a survey that requires webcam! Not that I'm paranoid, but I just don't like the idea.
-
I have gave an eye before.
-
Absolutely not.... and I don't use a webcam. The NSA admits they can openly view your webcam even if it is turned off. My phone camera is always pointing at absolutely nothing. I trust no one....!!
-
I agree with you 100%! I do not trust anyone accessing my web cam unless I know who it is. Sometimes, surveys want me to install programs on my computer as well, and I also deny those. It's just too risky now in days. You never know what information is going to be compromised. Identity theft is on the rise, and while a survey company itself may be trustworthy, it doesn't mean hackers can't gain access and expose your information.
-
Naw, I typically decline them. I like my privacy.
-
Never have never will. When we bought our laptop my husband covered ours with duct tape to begin with. Anyone can hack into someones webcam. It's truly scary to read some of the horror stories online.
-
That's asking too much I think. I cover my lens for added privacy.I hope that works.
-
Nope, no way, not going to happen. I don't do webcam video survey type stuff. About a week ago, I began a survey questionnaire and while I was still in the first part of the survey, I found out that it required a webcam. So I clicked 'no' and moved on to another offer - one not quite so personal.
-
I think I've gotten around 4 surveys in the past few days requiring a webcam. They must be having difficulty getting people to qualify (who use them) or I just happened upon several at once. Well, I don't and won't qualify for the webcam surveys.
I know I've taken a survey or two that wanted to capture your mood after reading or viewing something. They offered different faces with expressions on them for you to choose the appropriate face in order to indicate your mood (Brainjuicer is one of those who use this). I'm much more comfortable with that than using a webcam, which I don't have anyway.
-
I do. It doesn't embarrass me because I understand confidentiality in surveys and wouldn't assume anybody would be invading my privacy.
-
Yes, I have done them and have no problem with them, except sitting still in the camera's view. I keep my webcam covered over with a post-it when I am not using it.
-
No I don't. I feel like it is an invasion of my privacy. Probably silly, but it just takes me out of my comfort zone.
-
I've done it a few times. Nothing special about it.
-
I never had the opportunity, but I wouldn't mind that. I do usually keep my webcams covered over, but I would uncover it to get paid for a survey. It's only a temporary lack of privacy.
-
I've gotten several. I haven't done any of them. I turn right out of them soon as it asks!!
-
it doesn't bother me most times I ger ready to do it and I don't qualify anywayso
-
No way will I ever participate in these surveys.
-
I think I've only done one survey which required the use of a webcam. I don't like doing these surveys because I am actually a little shy. However, the issue of all kinds of wierd people watching me doesn't bother me during surveys, but mainly because you don't have to be doing a webcam survey, nor agree to allow them to watch/interview with you, for them to observe you. They could do it anyway without your permission by hacking into your stuff. So I stick duct tape over my camera unless I am doing a webcam interview, or unless I choose to Skype someone! I'm afraid we live in a day and age where I feel the need to do this. Shame eh?
-
Never.
-
i never have did the webcam surveys
-
I did webcam surveys several times. I got credited for most of them.
-
I've probably participated in about a half dozen surveys requiring a webcam. I know there are ethical standards that companies must adhere to regarding administering surveys and the use of results. If you're on the internet, your privacy is invaded. The only problem I have with the webcam surveys is how long they want you to sit still and center your face just-so! It's a pain and sometimes I just don't have the patience.
-
I agree it is creepy. With all the press out there on the subject I think I will pass.
-
I don't have a webcam so it is really easy for me to decline those type of surveys lol I'm on an older desktop PC. Besides, I would feel weird to have someone "watching" me. I live alone so it would be double creepy
-
I don't have a webcam, but I might try it if I did
-
Nope. I'm too paranoid. And wouldn't I have to do my hair and makeup?
-
No, I don't own a webcam. I'm not sure if i would feel comfortable doing so.
-
I also refuse to take part in any survey that requires access to my webcam. I think that is a little creepy that someone is watching me.
-
I never do them either, don't think I would be comfortable.
-
No, I never do don't see the need. I keep mine covered.
-
I agree with you, I have stayed away from those also; even though they say you can uninstall when survey is over I just do not trust.
-
No. I do not need to be videoed to take a survey.
Southernhorizons - I would not give up my privacy for 50 cents that you very likely get to the end of the survey and it says oh you don't qualify anyway. And you really don't know who is doing the survey.
-
I'm with you on this one. I rarely give my consent to use the webcam. It feels weird.
-
Never. I would not allow anything remote access to my devices
