Title: Information about Vitamin C
Post by: sherryinutah on November 13, 2016, 10:19:46 am
Vitamin C is an important nutrient that's water soluble so it's needs to be replaced on a regular basis.  It's a nutrient that helps us maintain our immune system and we are approaching flu season.  Some people might say we're already dealing with flu season.

According to the "How To Herb" book, vitamin C is naturally manufactured within the bodies of certain animals; however, human beings, apes and guinea pigs must get vitamin C from the things they consume.

In order to absorb and assimilate vitamin C we also need other nutrients.  We also need calcium, magnesium and bioflavonoids.  This information can be found in the book called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing".

Personally, I buy an Ester-C with bioflavonoids supplement.

Understanding nutrients and what my body needs to maintain good physical health is important to me.

Where are you getting your vitamin C?

tablets-two a day for us diabetics

I agree that as a diabetic, it is more difficult to get my Vit. C through foods since fruits tend to have the highest levels of this vitamin, but they are also fairly high in sugars as well. I just take 1 tablet per day, but add a 2nd during the winter esp. if people I'm around (coworkers, friends, etc.) have a cold / flu.

I had an orange the other day but I probably don't do enough to get my Vitamin C other than the occasional orange or orange juice glass.

Probably not getting enough because I am only getting whatever is in my multi-vitamin.  Nice reminder. I would like to drink orange juice or eat an orange every day but rarely do I do either.  Thanks for the reminder - I need to buy some vitamin C supplement.

I take vit C daily, or almost daily.  I don't know when I eat fruit or veggies that they have enough C.

I take a supplement to make sure, along with several others.

Very healthy for my age (almost 74).

I'm probably one of those that doesn't get enough vitamin intake.  I've been awful bout taking care of myself with eating proper fruits and vegetables.  On a good day I start with a banana and yogurt ... but then I've been just letting anything bad for me go straight to my lips.  And boy am I feeling it.  .. pants are tighter and even my hips are a little sore.  I keep getting subtle reminders and I do good for one meal... than bam I fall of the health wagon.  However my husband is currently getting over a sinus infection and flu - so I'm using zinc a bit but I know that's not enough.

I'm getting mine from orange juice, lemon, lime, tangerine. I'm not sure if zinc has it but I take one (50 mg) every other day; to help with my immune health. :notworthy:
