My Niece/Godchild is turning 16. My Sister is totally consumed with her job, so I offered to throw the party.
Anyone have any ideas? Don't want to do the Princess theme...something more modern like a 'Goddess Party'
??? :dontknow:

What about a costume party or some kind of theme party. A favorite movie theme.

Goddess/Toga Party is pretty cool. I'm just thinking about how naked some of these 16 yr olds would try to get. But the Halloween part probably would yield the same result

Wow...now I'm really nervous, never thought about the naked thing? Maybe some kind of retro 80's party??? Any ideas for music to burn on CDs or food? Games? I have a 22 yr. old SON, never did the girl type stuff. I HAVE to be a cool Aunt. Ha!

The 70's and 80's would be a good choice! Maybe run a few ideas with her and see what her reaction would be.

my friend held a marty gras party, it was quite interesting

Honestly I know the show is OVERRATED and snobbish but you could possibly get some good ideas off of MTV my super sweet 16 party.
My oldest daughter loves the show and some of the party themes and ideas are pretty neat and could be really simple if one put their mind to it.
GOOD LUCK!! Shes really lucky to have you as an Aunt!!

I forgot all about that show. Thank You...hopefully she'll feel lucky that I'm her Aunt and not cursed with the trauma of a 'lame' party for the rest of her life. :sad1:

my daughter is only 14 and already thinking about her sweet 16. she loves that show called super sweet 16 too. the only thing is those kids are RICH! some of the ideas they get off there def have to be scaled down to fit a normal budget HA HA
she has already had a mardi gras theme for her 14th bday party.
what does your niece like to do? i know of a girl who is involved in drama in high school. she is in all the plays at school. for her 16th bday they did it like an awards show. even her invites looked like a ticket to a moview award night. everyone dressed like they were going on the red carpet, which they did with a red carpet runer like the ones they use at wedding. it was great
