Good for you! Studies/doctors say that we should get at least four 30 minute sessions of cardiovascular exercise per week. Apparently this amount of exercise is said to reduce instance of heightened cholesterol and cancer. I aim to exercise five times per week (30 minutes of cardiovascular workouts) just to keep my weight in check, and minimize DVT/leg clots) from sitting at a desk for sixteen to eighteen hours per day. I also like to sweat out toxins and find that I sweat less when it gets warmer, my head is clearer and I am more productive as a result of exercising more. Additionally I believe that my regimen presents exercise as being able to be done even by the busiest people and provides a positive role model for my children.

Then why pay for the gym membership?  :D  If I had paid for it I would go.  I doubt anybody is really paying attention to you.  I do the best at walking.  I had lost like 25 pounds but some stuff happened last summer and I have gained back a little about 12.  Just gave up.  Walking is what does the best for me.  And if you go to a park where there is a walking trail and maybe take some music there are people around so you are not just by yourself but if you have earbuds in then people leave you alone if you don't feel like socializing.

A friend of mine has a gym membership and she was worried when she started that people would be watching her. She found out quickly that nobody pays attention to each other as far as watching her.

I don't like to workout in front of others either. That's why I have my own equipment at home. I am guilty of not using it often as I should.

Great! As a retired senior citizen, I make a point to stay in shape and watch my weight.

We have a large yard and I am very active outside.

Keep it up!

If you are shy about working out with others, pick a time when it is not so busy and go then, when I had a membership  in the city, I would like about 6a.m. and there would only be a few  people then, I got to know them and they were very nice.  Once I worked out I could then  take my shower and get ready for work, stop and get me a coffee and a sasuage bisquit, be at work by  8:30 and  already be busy when the  store would open.
