I had several for my daughter years ago.  If you are patient and they are gently handled, they can become quite docile.  As for care, one of the most important things is their diet.  You can google sites that specialize in information on them.  You have to be careful about what they eat.  They are a small animal that once sick can have a difficult time recovering.  They are also very social little animals that like to have company.  Usually two females can get along together.

One of our guineas used to lay on my chest when I was on my back on the floor or couch and slowly inch himself up until he was underneath my chin and sit there and purr occasionally.  To be truthful, we had about 4 and never had a bite.  They can be nice little pets.  Be sure and look up the information.  If you are on Pinterest, there is also information about diet and living areas for them.

I had one for a short time. We actually found him in the house we rent. To this day we have no idea how he got there because our tenants did not have one and they are the ones who actually found him.

My oldest daughter has two of them & loves them. She bought them a hiding spot at the pet store because they get scared with new people around. Weekly bath time is a must (my daughter uses regular shampoo on them) small dab on hand then work into the animals fur. Very easy animals to take care of & funny to watch play around.

I've never had a guinea pig. I've always wanted one though! I think they're such precious creatures and soooo cute! :)

You are not suppose to give them a regular bath are you?  Maybe that was chinchillas.  I remember something we almost got that had to have a special bath with a powder or something.  I never gave mine a bath.  They are like cats.  They clean themselves.

I had one many years ago. They are good pets when you give them the proper care and diet.

My children had the three month infatuation with a Guinea Pig that we adopted. Seems most children want creatures but lose interest in them and stop taking care of them. We had Nigel the Rock Star Guinea pig and he was a cute little guy. We dropped a few hundred dollars on cages and feed for him, in addition to the cost of purchasing him. I made it clear, from the beginning, that I had no time to take care of him and the kids/my wife promised to take care of him. He started getting less and less attention and I began to feel bad for him. I noticed that the family would sometimes forget to give him water. I came home after a two day business trip and he was squealing away and I noticed that he did not have any water. I decided to drop an e-mail to every one that I knew and found a family that wanted a new Guinea pig to replace one that had just passed away from old age. I gave Nigel to them that very same night.

Never had one. However I did have the chance to play with some because our neighbors had some. They seem to make very nice friendly pets.
