I will not be doing this because over the years, there have been stories on the news about kid's finding things, such as needles in their candies. Things are not the same as they were years ago when we were trick or treating.
-
I live on a rural road in the country where the speed limit past my house is 45. No one trick or treats on my road. Some people put Halloween decorations in their yard on my road which seems like a waste of time if they are trying to let people know they are participating in Halloween.
-
I will but only will get 10-12 kids buy 3 bags just in case like to see the little ones.
-
I always have my favorite candy on hand - Reese's Cups - just in case we do get any trick-or-treaters. Never do but I am prepared! Living up a one lane dead end country hollow road, we don't get much vehicle traffic much less foot traffic.
-
I will be out of town and can't pass out any treats
-
I'll be taking my grandkids around
-
Probably not passing out candy this year. Large assorted bags of candy are kind of pricey! We set out a large bowl in the front yard last year while we were out enjoying the Halloween parade downtown. :pumpkin: :pumpkin: :pumpkin:

No, there have been rumors online about kids finding needles in candy. And rumors from gossiping people. But as for an actual police report and a real news story where this has happened - NO. Never seen it. Kind of like last year when they were saying people were passing out candy laced with drugs. FYI - no druggie is going to hand out their stash to kids in candy. Just sayin'
And NO I don't participate in Halloween.

No kidding. $20 for a bag of candy? That is ridiculous! I buy candy for the family but that is it.

I will be at church on Halloween night, but we don't call it halloween, its Hallelujah night, we don't worship a night that celebrates wearing costumes or the devil.
-
I will be passing out candy this year.... it will be on a Tuesday, so we generally get less kids during the week.
I'm going to set a bowl of candy out on the porch with some signs... I'm figuring on just a handful of kids.
Candy has gotten expensive, I got a bag of assorted chocolate bars/M&M at Costco for $16.99 with 150 pieces. Seems two years ago the same package was a lot cheaper.
Costco had another bag of assorted chocolate pieces, mini version like 5lb for $15.99... but the chocolate "bars" were so small, like a large dice... like snickers & milky ways brands. When did chocolate minis get so small... pricey & small
I have dusk to dawn lights on my house that automatically stay on, so I figure I'll just leave a bowl of candy out there for late candy seeking stragglers instead of turning them off.
-
Don't live in an area where kids come to trick or treat
-
We always buy a bag of candy that we enjoy. There are still a few small kids on our street so if they come I'll have something to hand out. But they haven't come the last couple of years. I believe most of them go to school or church carnivals but I will be prepared just in case. Once it gets dark my light goes off. I do miss the days of lots of trick or treaters but I'm not sure I'd let my child go if he were still young. Such a shame, it was always such a fun holiday for kids.
-
I will try it this year because I now live in a neighborhood so we'll see - for the last several years lived in a rural area and we never got anyone trick or treating. So again we'll see :cat:
-
No, sadly, I will be working late that night.
-
Sorry not this year, there is a lot of rain this weekend...
-
no
-
I hand out candy in late afternoon/early evening, when it's still light out. Once the sun is down, I leave candy in a container and leave it outside. When it gets dark, it's usually teenagers and I'd rather not deal with them.

Hello! :D :)
No things are not the same as they were years ago, nonetheless trick a treating is still a fun pastime for children. However I have never celebrated Halloween since it is my birthday. I always wonder how it is like and how much fun the children really have. I hope whoever trick a treat do it safely and have a frantastic time. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

Even though we don't get to many trick or treaters I'll be passing out candy this year
-
I always pass out Halloween Candy. I make these treat bags filled with 8pieces (4non-chocolate/4chocolate). I can't do those grab a handful of candy from the bowl because I always feel not every kid is going to get the same amount. I mean even if I do it, I've grabbed between 3-4pieces each turn. It's easier for me to make bags this way I know each kid gets the same amount.
-
No candy passing out for us. We live to far out and no one ever comes any more.
-
No one tricks or treats on my road.
-
I do not celebrate Holloween.
I think if folks understood the history of the holiday, they might be more circumspect about it.
It is rooted in paganism and the occult, and as a Christian, I do not acknowledge it.

-
yes that way I can get updates on where my kids are at
-
Not this year. I have to work. Last year I took my daughter trick or treating and we really had nice weather for it. This year it's going to be cold - she isn't dressing up at school any longer so she's starting to outgrow the occasion.
-
Candies here are expensive I will do the noneats treats still not a trick, I am going to rent some scary thrill movies. :cat:
-
No I think I will be out on the town tomorrow night instead!
-
How about this "haunted house" this eve of Halloween? That's inspiration to hand out some candies to the little ghouls.
:cat: :pumpkin: :cat: :pumpkin: :cat:

No I won't be passing out candy
-
No. I haven't pass out candy for several years now! When I ask the reason for Halloween nobody knows or cares about the answer, I ask them to do a trick before I'd give a treat & they just stand there looking at me with a stupid look, worst of all some kids have the nerve to show up at my door without a Halloween custom on!
-
Nope, I will be at work Halloween night. We do not get many trick or treaters on my street anyhow.
-
Totally handing out candy for Halloween. We set up a fire pit in our front yard and have three to four neighbors over for handing out candy to the kids. We also have a table with three slow cookers (filled with chili), a cooler filled with bottles of wine and another cooler filled with beer for the parents. We generally finish handing out candy by nine in the evening and try to get to bed by eleven unless Halloween falls on the weekend. We have been drifting more towards the Dia de los Muertos theme-love the concept and heritage (and I love skulls)! Last year we had nice weather in Colorado which is a rarity in October. I think that the temperatures are supposed to be down in the low fifties tomorrow but at least we are not expecting snow! Happy Halloween to one and all!
-
No I will not be home
-
Live on a dead end street, so we usually just get maybe 4 or 5 kids (neighbors only).
-
Will be passing out candy. Not may kids on the block anymore but there are always a ton that the parents drop them off in a car and wait for them. Guess they like the candy that our neighborhood passes out
-
We never get trick or treaters here. Kind of a bummer because I enjoy it! I DO get some candy for "just in case "
-
I won't be passing out candy this year. Each year I get fewer trick or treaters, and last year I only had 8.It's getting so it's just not worth my time anymore.
-
Trick or treating was more fun as the kid than it is as the person answering the door. It is actually kind of a scary thing to open your door and not know who is really out there.
-
Nope.
-
We haven't passed out Halloween candy in years. Our neighborhood kids have grown up just like our own children and hardly any of them go trick-or-treating anymore. But I have to agree with others on this subject: trick-or-treating was a lot more safe and fun back when I was a kid than it is now. :pumpkin:
-
I always do it! For me it's a treat seeing the kids dress up in costumes.
-
I would be glad to pass out candy, but we don't really get any kids. Our house is a bit far from the road, I think. I still always pick up at least one bag of candy, just in case. I'm sure it won't go to waste. ;)
I'll give most of it to my grandkids, I'm sure. Although, I might grab at least one piece for myself. :)
-
I will be at work during the town's "Trunk or Treat" time.
The town blocks off most of Main Street, businesses decorate their vehicles and park them in the closed off section of the street. The kiddos basically just walk in a very long long line from trunk to trunk to collect treats.
This activity has drastically cut down on the number of kids who go door to door for treats.
-
We live in a retirement community so there aren't any children that come to our house. I kinda miss it :(
-
I have a bowl of candy for whoever stops by...usually its just family members and a few neighbors.
-
Yes, I passed out candy this year.
-
I don't pass out any candy because no one trick or treats in my neighborhood. It's not labeled as a senior neighborhood or adult community however everyone living here do not have young children.
-
I will not be giving out candy this Halloween. I will be getting candy.
-
I didn't think I would be passing out candy tonight, but I changed my mind at the lasr minute.I didn't get many trick or treaters. Most of them were in the first hour, then I spent the second hour mostly waiting for kids to show up.
-
I think it can still be kept safe for kids if parents institute a number of security steps like going with their children when they are very young, have the kids go in groups when a little older, and check all candy before kids are allowed to eat it.
-
Well Today is November 1st .. the day after Halloween. I wasn't going to give out candy but at the last minute I grabbed 3 bags while I was out shopping. I got home after dark so the kids were already out. I sent the hubby out into the driveway with the candy while I started dinner. He was back in 20 mins. All 3 bags were gone.
It would cost me a small fortune to buy enough for all the kids that we get. Every year I keep saying this is the last year.
-
no we never get any trick or treaters in our neighborhood..i will be going with daughter to take the granddaughters
-
We didn't pass out candy this year. Kids hardly come by our neighborhood anymore.
-
We barely got trick or treaters last night.
-
A friend and I passed out candy last evening at the Fraternal Order of Eagles that we belong to. We were outside freezing our bootys off but it was worth it to see the costumes on the little ones and also the teens. We didn't have near the amount of kids this year. That part is sad.
-
Trick or Treating has really changed over the years.
We had ONE child ring our door bell last night.
I believe it is due to our town's new Trunk Or Treat activity that is held downtown 4pm-5:30pm. Main Street is closed off for a three block segment. Businesses and groups decorate their car or van trunk and the kids walk in a huge line from trunk to trunk in safety to collect candy.
By the time it gets dark when the kids used to go out door to to door, they have been given so much candy they don't need to go out again.
-
Nah, I'd rather save my money and donate it to a charity I really care about. I'm already helping out at a homeless shelter on Thanksgiving with the cooking and cleaning, and also give to an animal rights charity every year. Passing out candy to rich kids would be a waste of my time, but no shade to those who do it. It's just not my thing.
-
I had a bowl on the porch filled with chocolate candies... no one stole the bowl & there was even some candy left when I brought it back in at 10pm.
I have cameras on my house so it looks like there were just 4 different groups of people that stopped by. Only one small child, with 3 adults... was the first, she came early. The last group was some teenage boys from down the street, came about 9pm... they took handfuls. They had pretty elaborate costumes.
Successful Halloween
-
Yes, I will but I never get a lot of kids.
-
This will be the third year I have not handed out candy. There have been less and less kids in my neighborhood trick or treating. I handed out candy for about 40 years and I'm over it. I don't like opening my door for anyone after dark now that I live alone and am older.
-
sadley where im at theres no trick or treating or i would
-
No, I like that they have activities for the neighborhood children at the community center, seems safer in these times we are living in.
-
We didn't pass out candy this year. We hardly ever get trick or treaters since my neighborhood is so dangerous
-
I usually do but this year I didn't
-
I never pass out candy on Halloween. I personally think it is too dangerous in this world to allow your child to go trick or treating. There are some sick people out there and you can't tell what type of person it is just by looking at them. Have your Halloween at home.
-
Yes, we did.
-
I did not directly pass out candy during Halloween. Where I reside, door-to-door trick-or-treating is prohibited. As an alternative, we have a Haunted House set-up for children at my place of employment. I "donated" candy to that event. :)
-
We didn't and never do. Where we live there are no trick or treaters because we live in the country.
-
kids didn't even pass in our area this year.. buuh... it feels as if every year there less and less people wanting to celebrate it... I think it's fun! But obviously you also have to be very careful as there's lots of weirdos around.
-
Nope I well not and did not don't get any kids where I am at.
-
people seem to be getting away from going door to door.
a Halloween party is fun and safe.
when people get a bit older, high school and college age, they generally hang out with friends.
-
No not this year
